yup
Being on this song was a challenge right from the start. He took risks by choosing a very different singing technique from "Sledgehammer" or early Genesis material, and he sounds as brilliant and emotional as always, without stealing Angélique's show. It doesn't prove, but just confirms what kind of genius he has.

I dunno what race has got to do with it. I mean some voices sound great together and others don't. According to my ears this is an example of the latter and I tried to image the song without PG and it seemed better, but who knows until that particular edit is done and listened to?

Don't be daft. If Angelique wanted him for the song, then he belongs. If she didn't want him for the song, he wouldn't be in it.

I can't recall any precedent for him to be in Chinese or Tu van music (personally, I can't wait till he does though, belong or not). But, African music! He's been involved in African music for decades, which IMHO, places him squarely in the "belong" category.

The most energetic, engaging, generous and positive performer I've ever had the pleasure to witness. She gathered as many audience members that would fit on the stage for a dance party, complete with drum circle. I left that performance with a huge smile and happy heart.

For your hearing pleasure you'll need to record this script. Once you've completed your personal commercial, you can play it as often as you like - hours of fun. But wait! If you order now... I hope this helps get you started. (The oringinal version was much longer, but I decided to edit, out of consideration for the larger community).

I agree bizon. PG left Genesis because he saw the band headed in the "pop" direction and wanted to go off his tangent.
This song is utter crap. Much worse than that, it's seriously overplayed.
beautiful composition...yellin z perfectly tribal. tune z direct to my inner ear.

This is true - Find a copy of "The Best of Music & Rhythm" from 25 years ago and your see that he's had a particular interest in African beats long before others.
Beautiful song.

So how come nobody is asking "Why is Angélique Kidjo slumming with this loser?" You don't think there's maybe just the off chance that they're making this music...because they like it?
I think Mr. Gabriel has earned the right to collaborate with anybody he pleases, and follow his musical tastes wherever they go. He doesn't need our approval (or money) so I'll cut him some slack. In this case I'm glad the two of them brought us along.
Peter Gabriel or not, I wish this song would fall out of RP's heavy rotation list.

PG's involved, so it has to be meticulously produced.
She sounded a bit too screamy for me, though. And I'm a big PG fan.
Sorry.
Angelique Kidjo is amazing in concert. Such positive energy!
The beauty of the music is that it's hypnotic!
nice. I have no idea what she is saying, but it sounds fine.
not a bad song, but the fact that i'm hearing it too often these days unfortunately knocked it down a little bit
not bad except PG is a little annoying in this one.
Just got tickets to see her, March 22.
Can't wait!
pretty.

So cry, brother, cry. Happy New Year!!!!!!
I saw her live at Oracle Open World in San Francisco, and she put on quite a show. She got people dancing on the floor, and unlike most acts she actually went on the floor and sang and danced with the audience. She was on for about 7-8 songs, working alongside Billy Joel, Lenny Kravitz, Mick Fleetwood and Stevie Nicks and the Smithereens- compared to those American standards she really stood out as unique.
HE SINGS, SHE YELLS.
Angelique is LOVE. Definitely needs way more airplay than she gets.

It's truely amazing how PG has the ability to transcend cultures and languages with his music.

Outstandingly beautiful.
Honestly, I don't feel like Gabriel really needs to help out here. Kidjo can certainly make grand music without him. But if having him on there opens up her music to a wider audience, I won't complain. She's good, she deserves more airplay.
Wildly interesting!
