Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
[Chorus]
Go tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler,
The gambler,
The back biter
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down
Well my goodness gracious let me tell you the news
My head's been wet with the midnight dew
I've been down on bended knee talkin' to the man from Galilee
He spoke to me in the voice so sweet
I thought I heard the shuffle of the angel's feet
He called my name and my heart stood still
When he said, "John go do My will!"
[Chorus]
You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Well you may throw your rock and hide your hand
Workin' in the dark against your fellow man
But as sure as God made black and white
What's down in the dark will be brought to the light
You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
[Chorus]
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut you down
William must have read your post and decided to drum the point home. Just segued from Led Zep "When the Levee Breaks" to this.
Lord whatta lotta thumpin'!
Of course, if you have synesthesia, you already knew that.
Wait, seriously?!? That short guitar riff that gets played repeatedly is clearly from "Cat Scratch Fever."
You can hear Ted at the beginning of the song. Just a few riffs. Before Mr. Cash starts singing and then after every sentence of the first few lyrics and periodically throughout the song!
As yet nobody found Ted Nugent in this song? (Neither did I, but he's mentioned on the website, along with the others)
BTW, you can download all the stuff from this guy for free, just google the name (of course he's thankful for donations, especially in corona times).

I think you need to get out more. This is FUN.
No argument that it's FUN - Yet appreciate the irony at play here - often when I do go out, the earlier quoted baby-eating nonsense is what my Qanon-obsessed neighbor usually spews over the cinderblock wall.
That said, he's been delightfully quiet lately now his orange Waifu and half the entourage got one foot in the slammer.
So if you think I like this song for all the wrong reasons, peace be with you.
Hello folks! I know I'm a bit late on this one but if a listener didn't tell me about radioparadise and that they're playing my mashup I probably wouldn't know about all of this. So first of thanx for the play! I know it's pretty difficult to produce mashups that everybody likes, especially when there are so many famous tunes in it like in this case. So here's the full sample list in case you didn't recognise all the elements used: Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down (vocals) Led Zeppelin - When The Levee Breaks (drums) Beastie Boys - Sabotage (bass) Ted Nugent - Cat Scratch Fever (guitar) The Beatles - Come Together (lead guitar) Alright people thanx for the comments too! wandersahn wrote:
Well, not all of them... but I am a musician for 15 years now and it helps to put out some good mashup cause if you know about harmonice & chords it's much easier to make the seperate elements fit like a glove ;-) plaid wrote: WOW thanx! hobbitt wrote: Haha, mashup artist hear that quite often noyou wrote: Well thanx Tom for uploading, appreciate it! You're right Mark Vidler is brilliant. Now what's that LRC you're talking about? jenakle wrote: You're making me proud! ;-) Cheers everybody! SchmolliBlast the shit out of them loudspeakers.
Good point. I was listening to this rather quietly. I just followed your advice and you are correct. Blasting is much better. : )
huge thanx again RP for the massive support! this mix of mine is on the playlist for such a long time and i appreciate every single play!
thanx to all the people who commented on this one, no matter if positive or negative! and cheers to ambrebalte & acolt for their kind words ;-)
HOLY CRAP I MISSED THIS 12 YEARS AGO SCHMOLLI THANKED ME BY NAME AGASESDRAEGASEFGAEDCVAOIJDAEWDFJ;
I really shouldn't like this as much as I do.
Yes you should! Everyone should like this!
Hah! This should have been the themesong when the orange butthole got kicked out.
(Blehrblehrb-b-b-biden-ohbermer-hullery-baby-eaters!! - Whatever, get over it.)
I think you need to get out more. This is FUN.
"Just LOOOOVE IT!"
Du hast uns den Abend versüßt.

Why are you doing this to my ears, RP? Why? Can I get my cheque back?
Go back to sleep, zippy!
Hello folks! TL;DR Cheers everybody! Schmolli
Given the Kleptones have been (have they?) silent for so long, this is welcome to hear on RP.

Tough to find Nugent, yes. But I hear the first three guitar chords of Cat Scratch Fever.
Absolutely!

Throw in some DJ Z-Trip one of the first Mash up artists
The Rev. Atrocious Theodocious
yes +1 for that!
Moar Beastie Boys
keep running into that myself, ghost tracks on RP that can't be bought easily*
*like even when you want to do the right thing there is no source to purchase from
It's older than Johnny Cash--it's a traditional song that a lot of artists have covered and sampled.

Moby sampled the version by Bill Landford And The Landfordaires for "Play."

Amen, sista.
This is an 8 for me, just because I'm loving the interesting mash-up. At first I thought it was just a cool new artist, and then wow all these songs came through (Cash, Beatles, Led Zep, heck I'm even hearing the Beastie Boys samples in this!)
And I agree with a previous poster...this does seem to be the best mash-up track I've heard yet.
IT IS SO MUCH AWESOME PACKED INTO ONE MP3 THAT YOUR HEAD CAN'T CONTAIN IT ALL!!
Silly people.
Didn't/don't know Cash.
Didn't/don/t know Southern religion...
Just more smug "City Boys"...
Bricks and concrete ain' the same world as small towns, hard-scrabble, mill and mining people...
It's a big world... Music bridges a lot, but can't get over blind willful ignorance.
Hurt could be the best cover in the history of music! Much better than the original!

On a related note, I once heard a singer move seamlessly from the Rocky Road to Dublin into Ring of Fire....
Yep, this is a delightfully irreverent 'cover' of the Cash song, which takes the gentle piss out of Cash's po-faced piety.
This is truly incredible!! This mixes drums from Zeppelin, guitar from Ted Nugent, lyrics from Johnny Cash, a sgue from the Beatles...
I got really into Mash-ups after hearing this song and a few others around. It's incredible how songs from such different genres can be combined into something totally new.
Like this (Billy Joel vs Jay-Z) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgB-Ld0mnjU
who knew Billy Joel was such a bad-ass rapper?
"Ain't gonna let nobody lordy turn me round," fits too, incidentally
The argument that using a sample is stealing, is similar to arguing that a song was stolen from Neil Young because it has a G --> Dm chord change in it...
I guess Warhol was just a hack afterall...
(posting tired & cranky... forgive me )
Well, you would have to buy the Monet, not steal it, unless you want to be charged with grand larceny. Anyhow, it's been done already.
Well, the better analogy would be that you would take the image of a Monet, modify it with either clip art (could be imaginative) or your own art (far better), and create something new. No one would argue--some would, but I wouldn't--that what you had created was your own work of art. Beardon, Rauschenberg, Arp and other collagists did this as a matter of course without too much worry.
PM me a link to what you come up with.
Yep. Give it a try. God will probably cut you down.
Complaining about using samples is so 1992!
DJ needs to share some of whatever it is he's smoking. Maybe then this will appeal.
Its appealing to me just fine! Love that Johnny Cash!!
(but I ain't sharin')

Interesting. After the surprise (at first), followed by deep anger and resentment that it was not going to be LZ, it grew on me.
Ooh, how naughty of him.
I'd really like to meet you, because I think this is a spectacularly creative mash. We'd have lots to talk about.
I say right on, and turn it up!
I think you need to get out more. This is FUN.
Of course it's fun - and think whatever you want. This mashup still kicks butt for all the right reasons!
