lyrics:
You're living like a stranger
All wrapped up in the outside eye
You're living life in danger
Never reaching for what's there inside
Chorus:
Once over the world there's nothing left to hide
Nothing but the truth already sees
In other words when the glitter falls, shine'll be wearing thin
If not for the beauty within
The flower blooms in springtime
The dirt's reward for all it gives
You want more than you're given
But you're given most of what there is
When it all becomes a wonder
When the eye becomes a window for deceit
Still until it all goes under
Beauty is what beauty has to be

Okay, based on the songs listed above, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the reason for the common theme is a Jungian musical archtype and not any kind of intent on the part of the songwriters involved...
My tired brain read that as "Musket-fest," and I thought, wow, they really like their guns in PA. The old-school kind.
Yeah, I need some more coffee.
Yep, it was supposed to be 'Dawn of the Buffalo' but everyone said 'Donna' and it stuck....
True story told to me by a roady at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle year ago... They're a really fun band! Great jam music...
Thanks for the added info!
I like this band; must get some of its music.

I have heard that the same chord progression as Pachelbel's canon is commonly used in pop music.
The Canon is everywhere.
I am not kidding.

I first "herd" them in FL about 9 years ago. They are from NY (I think near Buffalo). I don't know where the name Donna comes from. The only female in the group is Tara Nevins - lead singer on most of their songs. They call their fans "The Herd".
How could it be that you must leave to live in a world without me
And how could it be that I must say goodbye and fade in your memory
How could it be that you must leave to live in a world without me
And how could it be that I must say goodbye and fade in your memory
And how can I stand to let you leave
There must be a way home from here
There must be something we share
There must be a way home from here
