Give me a vision when I got none
and thunderbolts in each hand of my own
for I'm comin' back to level
Everything they taught us wrong

With a crave for for panacea
World is crawlin' on all fours
In a search of a new prayer
Gods are throwin' thunderbolts

So dub it like toyarisch would
Dub it like a best friend could
Dub it like a brother would
Onto Transmigration!

I need leads how to keep going
On the trail of ultimate from the streets to the subconscious
from subconscious to the God

Master tell me how come everything they taught us
Always seems to be so god damn wrong
In the meantime music from the tiny island
Takes over the world

Frequencies of love
Gather round, oh come on
Frequencies of love
Overcome, overthrow!

So dub it like tovarisch could
Say it like a brother would
Hold me like a mother would
Onto transmigration

This SO SUCKS. I never say this about anything on RP. But I have to draw a line somewhere - this is it for me!

I've seen them live. What a fun!)

Tiresome - the schtick really doesn't wear well.
I suppose I could troll this site and give this a 10
Hell's teeth.  PSD for me...

Straight to Jefferson Airplane.  Another result, RP.
I usually love the Bordello. But this is garbage.
And I thought Jimmy Buffet music sucked...
I'm coming to the conclusion that Gogol Bordello is the only punk band I like.  More than like, I LOVE them!  Especially live!
To me Gogol Bordello always sound like what would happen if Animal had a solo side project away from his regular gig with the Muppets.
Seeing how the rating reflects my opinion about this song, I'd hint Bill another of their songs.
I was a huge fan of Gogol Bordello back in 2005, saw them live at festivals a lot - quite the rowdy, rebelious lot, up beat, funny gypsy punkers, it was hilareous! Anyway, after that, they were kinda leaning on their early succes - that was how I felt. They threw in samba, even a rapping dude, didn't like it.
So try "Start wearing Purple" or "Dogs were Barkin" from their 2005 album "Underdog World Strike" for a better world / punk vibe, a lot of dancing or jumping around and lol. Would fit here too, on RP!!
It's the singing that ruins it for me. So OTT and ridiculous. Even the accent sounds fake.

Maybe in the right (circus?) setting, they'd be perfect, but just listening in a mixed playlist (out of a theatrical context), it just doesn't work.
In protest against the much too negative mood against this emathic band, I raised my rating to………  10!
Not my favorite of their songs, but they are soooo sooo good if you just give them a chance.  If you want a taste of the energy and spirit of this band, check out the NPR Tiny Desk Concert that they put on:

https://www.npr.org/2019/09/11/128111544/gogol-bordello-tiny-desk-concert

And if you ever have a chance to see them live, you must go!
Love this band; strange and quirky! Saw them on Green Day's BST festival bill.
it is  enough to jump off a bridge into a herd of cowbells.
I gave it 10. Just because to level the hate. It's not nearly as bad as the elitists here present.
I've heard much worse american/uk junk on RP but it was sugar coated, as always.
Sounds like some russian garbage.
This is fun!
This absolutely SUCKS - and that is so not like me to actually post - come on Bill?? What also sucks is there is no PSD via Sonos...
Mais quelle merde !

Most excellent comment. I liked them the first 2 times, and then got tired of the schtick.

Album cover design by Albanian goatherd?

I'll give them points for consistency.
People here seem to have such delicate ears!
They are a fun band. I love their gypsy punk vibe.

"American wedding! Where is the red herring? where is the vodka? "
Nah. If my toilet could sing while flushing, this might be its orchestration.
The beating of the fire buckets will continue until moral improves.

Oh-pah!

What about the music from the "You're Getting Old" episode when Stan transitions into permanent cynicism?
Just gets aggravating after awhile. Thunderbolts in my ears.
The singer sounds like a cross between David Byrne and Alex Jones.
When will this song finish?!
Lighten up and unclench your sphincter fellow listeners. This is pure fun with a wink and at least a 6 to me.
This is ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC.  It is this stuff that has me turn off RP... Come on Bill?!
Oiy!!! My dogs left the room.
worst song ever!

I suppose if the average is a 4.2 that qualifies it as "Acceptable" and therefore we will have to continue enduring this horrible arrangement of sound.
This is aweful
Oof dah!!!
Funny, I look back and I disliked this set on January 28th,,,,and I still dislike it today.

Rowdy!

Holy cow ... I thought that was never going to end.

Thank you Van for the much-needed palette cleanser.

{#No} stop it!
Pleeeereease make it stop!!!!
Rarely who from East Europe or Balkans likes "Gogol Bordello", it is so phony that only Madonna could promote it...

Another amazing band that rp introduced me to.
"Michael Jackson is the most premium dancer"
Maybe OK live on stage, but it hurts my ears now.
Is it over yet or what?
seriously,,,
A couple of groups in Québec and France sound similar.  At least in terms of vocal style.
awesome set,,,,,,
Saw these guys live and it was an amazing show, but translated to a non-live environment?

Doesn't work, the lead singers voice is quite honestly, terrible. However, his stage performance is totally electric - worth checking out live!

I'd accept a PASBTGATO (Play Another Song By These Guys After This One) button.

For those who can appreciate the mayhem, humor, and general fun of these guys, try the album "Gypsy Punks: Underground World Strike".  It's their best.
You're welcome.

Nice comment {#Lol}. That'll be Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, whose best ever performance was "Revenge of the Nerds" at a Star Wars premiere. It makes me weep with laughter.
Absolute tripe.

"Hey guys, let's sell this b.s. to the rubes, and make 'em believe that it's true gypsy music. We'll make millions. Millions!"
Bill is going quite worldly in the last 4, with a slightly Eastern European feel

Yoav — Yellowbrite Smile
Los Straitjackets — The Casbah
Notorious — Romanian Train Song
Gogol Bordello — Dub The Frequencies Of Love
Simply ghastly.   So much so it broke my concentration working with it's aural hideousness.  Have to switch off....
Great Balkan segue from Notorious! I'd love to see this bunch of bonkers Balkanites live - more fun than a barrelful of monkeys :o)
Surprised to hear Gogol Bordello on RP!  While I'm not a huge fan of them, their music is just a little too silly for me, I appreciate the diversity displayed here.
 boober wrote:

Best comment. He descends into a guttural snarl that holds no attraction for me. But their song about how there's no fun allowed in town: Now that's great.

I had a problem with a Joni Mitchell song from yesterday or maybe any day..what a gutsy play...no major complaints!..personal preference at a personnel time..I guess that its why I choose this station over my own catalog..very nice
Uncanny resemblance to that song from the South Park episode where everyone is ninjas.
 This? This is tame.
Last night I was at a concert which turned into a Ukulele fest - it was a lot weirder than this.
this is disgusting
5 for the cover + 1 for the song + 2 for the craziness. Yep, a solid 8.
This is just horrible. First song on Radio Paradise that I really didn't like.

this guy was great in "Everything Is Illuminated"!
Glad to see that Gogol made it on air in RP! Awesome Bill, we want more of them, they have excellent songs!!
Too bad that many listeners do not appreciate their style. Very good for us in Europe though, they have a very big fan base around here :)
Don't ever stop playing these guys. No matter what the haters say.
There is NO mistaking a Gogol Bordello song.
Great bonkers Balkanites! Worthy successors to the little-known but much-lamented (by the Nottingham jury, at least) 3 Mustaphas 3. This lot are more bananas than Fyffes, more nuts than Planters, more bonkers than a swingers club. Great craic in a Balkan stylee. 7 from the Nottingham jury.
This is not what you want to hear at 8:30 a.m. at the office —
i feel like I should be at a raucous kitchen party staring into the bottom of an empty vodka bottle instead {#Sick}
Please, please, please stop playing this horrible band. Please?
this song has a rating of 4 - there is a reason for that.  It sucks and its horrible.
Somebody drive an ice pick into my ears, please.

The very wonderful American Wedding.. how many other songs namecheck 'marinated herring' and 'Donald Trump'?

Have you ever been to American wedding?

Where is the vodka, where's marinated herring?
Where is the supply that gonna last three days?
Where is the band that like Fanfare.
Gonna keep it goin' 24 hours

Ta-tar-ranta-ta-ta
Super taran-ta taran-ta ran-ta ta

Instead it's one in the mornin'
and DJ is patchin' up the cords
Everybody's full of cake
Staring at the floor
Proper couples start to wonder
That it's time to do
People gotta get up early
Yep, they gotta go
People gotta get up early
And she'd gotta boyfriend
And this whole fucking thing
Is just a one huge disappointment

Ta-tar-ran-ta

Nothing gets these people going
not even Gypsy Kings
nobody talks about my Supertheory
of Supereverythings!
SO be you Donald Trump
Or be an anarchist
Make sure that your wedding
Doesn't end up like this

I understand the cultures of a different kind
But here word celebration just doesn't come to mind

I'm with you on this... they are the most awesome band live,,, saw them a year or so ago and loved it!

But what's interesting is that it was this track, which was on the cover mount CD of the UK's very wonderful Uncut magazine, that first alerted me to GB - funny how one person hears something and is drawn to it whilst others are totally turned off - but wouldn't it be dull if we all had the same taste?

Thank God for the PSD button.

I see the ratings, but I'd much rather hear this than anyone named Marley!
I have finally figured this out - like all public-facing servers, I'm sure the streaming devices at RP occasionally suffer from overload as more and more people log on to listen.

So Bill plays some Gogol Bordello, causing hundreds if not thousands of people to immediately switch to Soma or some other streaming music service.

Overload problem solved . . .
I don't mind the music as much as I mind the incredibly inane album art.
Blergh.

I love these guys!  For anyone who doesn't "get it", check out the documentary "Non-Stop" which is available on Netflix streaming.

A synopsis:  "Fusing the instrumental approach of Eastern European gypsy music with the energy and attitude of punk rock, Gogol Bordello is one of the most unusual success stories of pop music in the new millennium, and Eugene Hutz hardly has the background of a typical rock frontman. Born near Kiev in 1972, Hutz and his family fled the Ukraine after the disaster at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 1986, and they made their way through Eastern Europe as refugees before coming to America in 1990. After playing with local bands in Vermont, Hutz relocated to New York City in 1997. While working as a DJ at downtown clubs, he began meeting fellow expatriate musicians, and in 1999 Gogol Bordello was formed. Gogol Bordello's frantic live shows earned the band a loyal following both at home and on the road, and their third album, 2005's Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike became a major independent success. Filmmaker Margarita Jimeno followed the band on the road for several months, and the result was Gogol Bordello Non-Stop, a documentary which looks at the group's colorful history and rigorous schedule as well as offering a look at the high-energy live show that's made them famous. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi"
THIS AWFUL!!!!  Come on Bill!
_Terrible!
I know I "shouldn't" like this group, but I really do.  It's like how I feel with most Beck or White Stripes songs...strange stuff, but it just grabs you (well, me anyway).
