Tout près du ciel j'ai ma maison
Viens viens sur la montagne
Là-haut il fait si bon
Pourquoi ces pleurs dans tes yeux
Viens avec moi viens
Laisse ici ton amour malheureux
Tes yeux tendres me font voir
Qu'à toi seul je tiens
Ne sois pas triste il n'est pas trop tard
Viens avec moi viens
Si tu veux bien prends ma main
Laisse moi je connais le chemin
Viens viens sur la montagne
Là-haut il fait si bon
Devotchka, this is how it ends. How appropriate since Russia is on a killing spree.
Whoa there, patriot. What are we doing in the Ukraine? They're not a NATO member so why are we there? At this point there's no use in pointing fingers. At any rate, it's safe to say neither of us would be shooting up the countryside if we just stayed in our lane.
These folks are a lot fun. Love the instrumentation, especially the accordion. Funny, they don’t sound like they come from Denver but then American music can be a mix of everything from everywhere.
Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack too.
Not sure that's a good or bad thing.
Saw them in Dublin, Ireland (the original) in 2007. Terrific.
Nick Urata guzzled from a bottle of red wine all the way through.
They were given a great Irish welcome.
Excellent!!!!!
I can confirm, lyrics are not what they're singing
Plus it's really hard to hear the lyrics through the music so I could not even make a full transcription
C'est exact, les paroles sont différentes de celles figurant sur RP; et pas faciles à comprendre...
LOVE RP anyway
I assume you mean Wien's displacement law of 1893, not Wien's distribution law of 1896 (which was promptly superseded by Planck's law). Either way, I have absolutely no idea what you mean.
Yep, confirmed. Your French is not that bad :)

Just On y voit pas instead On n'y voit pas! All is good from grammatical point of view, but if I was the girl I just accept if the singer is 10 years old :)
I don't think I've ever seen Wien's Law applied to music. Not a bad tune; I like the description "dark cabaret" for this band.
Yea for us. I missed out on the drawing to see them at the Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton. :( Oh well, next time.
Agreed - catchy and intriguing. I wish I could hear the words properly to try my rusty French on them. Unfortunately, your comment has created an image in my mind of the bastard offspring of Leonard Cohen and Gogol Bordello which will take some throwing off...
...roger that!
It's not something I would want to listen to a lot. Don't mind the "lead squeeze-box" too much, but the heavy Slavic baseline starts to wear quickly, at least for me.
When it's on, I find myself turning RP down without realizing it.
I have no idea if the French lyrics or English translation are worth a damn:

Please keep trying.
I think that's part of the lyrics
HA HA HA...this song was worth it for this comment.
Agreed. The accordion is this song is nice.
Or Gotan Project
Actually, I love it just the way it is. 9
Every time I hear this song I pause to listen and then remember I really like it as soon as the accordian kicks in. I always enjoy it when accordians or banjos, lutes, mandolins, horns, theremins, etc., appear in music. Artists combining non-traditionial sounds in their music often produces great results. DeVotchKa sure has something going. . .
Non-traditional? All those insruments have at least a hundred years of tradition on the electric guitar. (Except for the theremin)
Anyway, I like when traditional instruments are used! This one is most enjoyable..
Odd, I've listened about 8 hours a day for weeks and this is the 1st time I've noticed it...
Excuse my french...

Among the many, many reasons RP is vital...
I often think of people dancing like this when I listen to this song, not all the time but often.

Thanks for that! Awesome visual!
Both are from Denver, probably did some double-billed shows back in the day.

If it can't be chart toppin', make it chair boppin'!
note: I turned it up and figured it out. Cool song I think
Actually, I don't dislike it, but some of the chord changes seem out of place and surprising—worse, weird and not overly enjoyable—given the (apparent) ethnic-geo-political-whatever background of this music. Oh, but call me close-minded, dwelling in the rut of banal characterization.
My beloved caught them live without me. :pout:
This is going to be intresting...
Got to have a dance nana..
Lenny sings in French you know. My homie and I learned it in Montreal, where we both grew up.
The careful observer will notice that the bottom of the accordion has a very cleverly positioned glory hole with vacuum attachment. Smile you naughty boy! Smile!
"Guess what?!
I've got a fever, and the only prescription... is more Accordion!"

in Russian music the accordion is as common as the guitar is in American.

You know these folks are from Denver!
