Bill, thank you for your observation on the 8yo girl doing a more than credible John Bonham cover of Good Times Bad Times. I have studied it in depth with my rhythm section partner. The triplets alone with the kick pedal she can barely reach are worthy of awe from such a young girl. If her joy in nailing it doesn't make you smile call 911.

Sure, this was not like their early, trippier stuff, but it still sounded pretty good when it came out, cranked on my AudioVox 8-Track with Jensens in the rear deck of my '70 Cutlass 'S' Hardtop Coupe -- especially while tokin' a J, tossin' a Frizz and chuggin' beers in the park the rest of that summer and fall... I miss hearing "Carouselambra;" it was the hardest rocking song on this album, and where they spent 10 minutes absolutely JAMMING in exquisitely edgy, wildly unpredictable style...

That whistle before the bridge is perfect for the tempo/calypso chantge. And noted that Guns and Roses totally ripped off the effect for Paradise City, and that is ok, because it works.

I recall buying the record in 1979 because it was LZ, not being enthused after playing it, then the drummer died, and that was it.

What a tie in! Robert Plant has an incredible version of "One More Cup of Coffee" on his 2002 album Dreamland. He also covered Season of the Witch with his band Priory of Brion in the late 90's.

I love Led Zeppelin! A highlight of my youth and still the best! This delightful song is them at their most melodic and carefree sounding on their last studio album.

This song takes me back so vividly to 1979? and Wintergreen Ski Resort in Spring Green, Wisconsin. It was a no-frills little place kind of overlooking the Wisconsin River. They would blast this song while you rode up the chair lift. Happy memory.

It amuses me that people have such strong opinion about this song. It's fun: a guy pissed because his date is standing him up, great guitar rift, guy realizes all his musing on bad faith is because he screwed up. A fantastic slice of life with the realization that your conclusion is WRONG.
This must be from their Lost Cheesy Lounge Lizard Period.
Always loved hearing songs that shook your expectations and stereotypes for a band, and this one shattered the ones I had in regards to Led Zeppelin. Personally still absolutely love it, especially the uptempo bridge with the latin percussion added in.

Interesting read, the comments here. I am going to judge this one by its impact in a live concert. It would bring down the house, methinks. The drumming and rhythm change-ups alone do it for me.

How an English rock and roll band managed to incorporate classic Spanish/calypso into a great rock song without diluting anything out is remarkable. Lyrics, melody, rhythm, all of it just hums with a perfect energy. Can't help but dance a little inside.

I don't see why CD's can't be supplied in the big fanfold jobs we used to relish. Photos, lyrics and so on. A major part of the experience for me, now sadly missing.

Not my fave Zep song and a little too overplayed. Really never dug the tropical/Latin break, either.
Just love this, really takes me back. Their next album was to be a return to heavy hitting rawk. Sigh ... if only it had happened...

I think it's important to avoid sweeping generalisations, so I will simply say that this is the worst song ever in the history of music.
much bile in the comments, but the song stays well above a 7 on the total ratings. Seen some less "hated" tunes with lower ratings.
edit: (as seen in the song following this tonight Gorillaz — Demon Days which only gets a 6.5 or so. I rate both at a solid 8)

Shows that Zep could handle just about anything they tried. Also shows their blues band heart. The bossa nova spin-off is incredible.

Love this song, and this album. So much better overall than the prior album Presence. This was showing a whole new direction for the band and it was fresh and different. They could not record the same old rock or they would have been typecasted, and this whole album shows the LZ sound direction for the 1980s, and it was far better than anything out there. LZ evolves, and they are better for it. Then Bonzo had to go and die and ruin everything.
I'm always up for the mighty Zep.
