Laugh in the face of death under masthead
Hold your breath through late breaking disasters
Next to news of the trite
The codes and the feelings that meant to be global
Like coke in the nose of the nobles
Keeps it alight
And the wrath and the riots
And the races on fire
And the music for tanks with no red lights in sight
Got you cryin'
Cryin'
Oh, whyin'
Oh, my my my
Gold is another word for culture
Leads to fattening
Of the vultures
Till this bird can barely fly
And Mary and David smoke dung in the trenches
While Zion's behaviour never gets mentioned
The writing's on your wall
Blood on the cradle
And the ashes you wade through
Got you callin' God's name in vain
Leaved the damned to damn it all
Got you cryin'
Cryin'
Oh, whyin'
Oh, my my my
Broken nose, coloured glasses
Can't see for the thorns
And you just can't stand no more
What a clumsy kind of low
Time to take the wheel and the road
From the masters
Take this car, drive it straight into the wall
Build it back up from the floor
And stop our cryin'
Oh, cryin'
Oh, whyin'
Oh, my my my
Our cryin'
Our cryin'
Our cryin'
Still you try, try, try
Hold your breath through late breaking disasters
Next to news of the trite

Thought this was OK Go, which isn’t necessarily a good thing.

I am on the fence. I like the bass and the beat, but the falsetto is upsetting
Like their style, fan of TVOTR since 2010

Oh god for a minute I thought it was Walter Becker.
These guys also should stick to composing.

I don't get these guys; I don't hate 'em, but I just don't understand what inpsires all the adulation. Misses me entirely.

I don't know what this is about, but I'm curious. Very interesting sounds. Reminds me of Sly and the Family Stone in some spots.

Tell me the parents of one of those band members didn't listen to Isao Tomita

I kind of like it and, as I noted previously, I'd rather hear this any time (though not daily) than their insipid Love Dog number!

Totally with you on that.
I was surprised by how disconcerting their performances were on SNL. I could barely even recognize what songs they were playing, and I usually find them enjoyable (if not particularly stellar) on RP, even with frequent play. Sounded like they were over the place, musically speaking - not cohesive at all.
I caught their performance on Saturday Night Live. They weren't very impressive.

This album made many many people's Best of 2008 list and it does absolutely nothing for me. Especially the drum production - so thin and flaccid. I don't get it.
Historically almost no musical group is impressive on SNL. I tend to blame the sound stage and equipment, not the band. Even bands I love end up sounding like dog fights heard on a telephone underwater.

Something about the voice in this one reminds me of Ween...

sounding like scissor sisters, or is it vice versa?
fantastic
Much more of this and I may have to turn off the radio and go to the TV! This is not that good!

To me these guys sound quite similar to an Irish band "The Republic of Loose".
Check them out if you feel so inclined ;-)

Definitely more conventional and accessible, but that is not a bad thing. The album is outstanding.

Too much TV On The Radio on RP these days....IMHO
Not in the mood today, but this song ain´t that bad. A 5 for now. That other tune that´s been played here on RP is unbearable.
Prince + David Bowie = This (but not equal to the sum of the parts)

This is good.
Better this than Love Dog, to be sure.
Gawd this is obnoxious!
This sucks

I sincerely hope you're right, because the vocals on this sound way out of tune and the singers sound pissed as farts. Another sub-4 rating from the Nottingham jury, which is getting worried at nearly 10 such tracks on the trot. Either we're in a bad mood, or RP is in one of its dull patches :(
This particular track is not quite as good a representation of what these guys have to offer. The album is excellent!

Sounds like Flight of the Conchords. And that's too bad for TV on the Radio, for the boys from Flight of the Conchords sing this way for comedic purposes.

not so sweet
More like a David Bowie mixed with Peter Gabriel and a touch of Fine Young Cannibals.
Sly & the Family Stone it ain't. 4 for me.

this is rock soul. dant see anything bad in it. just opposite..

Good CD title. Would like to hear more of their stuff but this tune was just awful...at first blush.
I've liked most of their other songs, but this one is blech. It kind of reminds me of Prince, and that's NOT a good thing.

I'm still at the melon baller stage.
I fell for this band when I heard the (ass-kicking) inimitable song New Health Rock. They are definitely steering away from that sound towards something a bit more R&B influenced.
i must really like these guys.
each time i hear a song on RP i have to go look to see who it is playing, and it's usually this outfit! guess i have to go get some.
