16th of June, nine 0 five, doorbell rings.
Man at the door says if I want to stay alive a bit longer.
There's [three] things I need you to know. Three.
Coming from a long line of travelling sales people on my mother's side.
I wasn't gonna buy just anyone's cockatoo.
So why would I invite a complete stranger into my home.
Would you?
These days are better than that.
These days are better than that.
Every day I die again, and again I'm reborn.
Every day I have to find the courage.
To walk out into the street.
With arms out.
Got a love you can't defeat.
Neither down or out.
There's nothing you have that I need.
I can breathe.
Breathe now.
16th of June, Chinese stocks are going up.
And I'm coming down with some new Asian virus.
Ju Ju man, Ju Ju man.
Doc say you're fine, or dying. Please.
Nine 0 nine, St John divine, on the line, my pulse is fine.
But I'm running down the road like loose electricity.
While the band in my head plays a striptease.
The roar that lies on the other side of silence.
The forest fire that is fear so deny it.
Walk out into the street.
Sing your heart out.
The people we meet.
We not be drowned out.
There's nothing you have that I need.
I can breathe.
Breathe now.
We are people borne of sound.
The songs are in our eyes.
Gonna wear them like a crown.
Walk out, into the sunburst street.
Sing your heart out, sing my heart out.
I've found grace inside a sound.
I found grace it's all that I found.
And I can breathe.
Breathe now

From the new U2 album... "The Forgettable Sh*t"
AHAH!!!
AHAH!!!
This is definitely not their best stuff. Could be one of the worst I have heard from U2.
It's definitely below avg for RP. Maybe it's time to remove it from the playlist. Doesn't make the RP cut.

I'll usually give U2 stuff a listen since I enjoyed their first to albums very much. This has some good stuff in it, but it's sounds very disjointed and arbitrary to me, like a patchwork quilt made in the dark.
This isn't that great. Kind of like every other U2 song ever.
Shades of the White Stripes.
noise! haha
dammit! already a 1, can't lower it.
still rockin'!

U2 is U2, not the worst indeed. Back with daniel Lanois, it sounds like a great R n R of U2 ? Don't you think ?. Put your boots in, and what else ? keep on and make your stuff.
daniel Lanois is as not as a great producer, he writes some pretty songs in french american canadian. Yeah. go to fetch on deezer.com and tel me after "Louise". Gkk from Lyons.

just what i was thinking. bono has gone from creating sublime music, (with his mates of course), to basically just becoming a great promoter/marketer/entrepeneur/diplomat, and sad to say, the music definitely takes a back seat now.
They'll be on Letterman five nights in a row I hear. I have no problem with self-promotion at all, but I'm always a little surprised at the lengths some artists go to stay in the limelight.

Seems the band's career is on cruise control. Time to take the wheel again boys!

Hrmm..... I'm a pretty decent U2 fan, and even I think this is getting a bit too far into the deep end.
Mabye the album will grow on me...?
edit: I gotta say that the cello is pretty bitchin', though.

I agree, but they've done it enough to know what drives them and what they think their fans want.
There was a time when U2 was the best at reinventing themselves.
But this sounds like just a retreading of the same hooks from their last two albums.
Hmmm....needs another listen.

Kinda the same. But will listen to the whole CD before a final judgement.

That's hilarious.
Could be worse. It could be Viva la Vida.
Just kidding...I really can't decide which is worse.

I have to say that I am not impressed.

As a fellow U2 fan, I'm sad to have to say I agree. Maybe I'll like it more when I can listen to while not having to work,
I am U2 fan, but so far I find myself uniformly assigning 6's to pretty much everything I've heard off this album. I will buy it when it comes out for sure, but nothing's really come right out and grabbed me so far.

Well, the lyrics are kind of cool at least.
Is he channeling Tom Petty?
Sorry, but this is down-right painful.
Nothing new on the horizon should be called the album. Pretty decent track, but nothing new to my ears...

No doubt this page will soon be full of the useful extreme love/hate comments reserved for a handful of super-successful bands. So just to buck the trend and in an attempt to send this thread off on a different trajectory, I think this is... OK...
It's a tad different from older stuff. Not a true 180° but out on its own. Then again, Zoo-stuff was an avenue of their's I didn't follow them down.
I certainly listened to it. Don't hate it. Guess it'll have to stew a bit.

Well, this is the 2nd song I've heard now from this album, and I gotta say, I'm a bit disappointed so far. Maybe it needs several listens to get it??
Welcome back, boys!
I think this is the worst U2 song I've ever heard. I do like the band, but not this song.
New U2? Not bad.
Sounds good to me.........
Well THIS got my attention.
AHAH!!!
Oh c'mon. Granted this song is far from the best on the new album, but on the whole, this album is a *vast* improvement over How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb.
Bill sometimes has a knack for picking some of the worst songs from otherwise great albums...
