Sunday AM, just perfect...
Thought this was yet-another-strings-cover of Where is My Mind.

This is so beautiful. Cello's are so soulful, meditative, melodic and deep.  Relax and enjoy what it does to your brain.
Awful

Nice cover. I'd say it doesn't add much, but it doesn't "take anything away", either.
another boring song by coldplay, losing weight without the lyrics... the arrangement is fine, at least.
NO
How could you not enjoy. Musicians playing their instruments masterfully in any genre is sound to behold.
When you sit and just listen to this song, taking in each note, it is very moving.
My favorite stringed instrument, this ensemble is entirely new to me today. Thank you Rebecca and Bill.

Big time soccer DAD here, and I agree.  Most orchestral arrangements of rock and roll have none of the Sturm und Drang that the rock versions were built upon.
I'm not sure if BillG has paired this one with the previous song (Sometime Around Midnight) before - it's another example of why I say that if the Music is Gold, then Bill G is a Goldsmith....could have sworn this track was an instrumental outro to the other song....and today I'm going 6 to 8 on this one...Long Live RP!!

I like this tune but the page reads more like a brochure or press release than a regular wiki entry:  "Low Strung's repertoire is exhilarating, challenging, nostalgic, diverse, and most importantly, fun"
Not a big Coldplay fan, tbh, but I do have a soft spot for strings, as the child of a cellist :) 7
I like Coldplay actually

I like strings too

This is bullshit for soccer moms

Coldplay = doggerel, in its secondary meaning: trite, shallow, etc. But worse than that, deliberately so. Cynically so. Oh Brian Eno, no no, what have you done.
Yes, all over the map of musical tastes on this one:

Utterly dreadful!! A weak melody by Coldplay not improved by playing it on strings and orchestrating it. Aaaargh this is the kind of thing that hits the top of the classical charts in the UK - ie not remotely classical but the kind of stuff you'd buy your elderly Auntie at Christmas.

Totally meaningless, emotionless...it´s simply less !

Styles and personal tastes aside, harmonious sounds have a pleasing effect on the embodied mind if you can tune in to the music.

I have to admin I only just recently started appreciating cello after not liking it for a long time.  And I do like this cover of a pop tune.  As to  using "classical" instruments to cover pop tunes, I think that's a great strategy to get young kids more interested in music early.  After all, Bach and Beethoven were "pop" in there day.

My concern is that I use the app in Google Chrome and the PSD button doesn't work while I am viewing the comments page.  I have to switch back to the player and then smack the button.  This can often mean that I have to take in a good few seconds of a tune such as this.  Not an ideal situation to find oneself in.

I have never actually heard the Coldplay version...in any context....I still hate this.

{#No} ..... please make it finish!!
The only thing worst than pop songs for strings is children's choirs trying and failing to sing pop.
It's a fine melody, but there's too much Coldplay left in it... I just can't appreciate this version on it's own. A cover needs to be really different/re-imagined for it to work. Like Joe Cocker or The Piano Guys. Or ever Deep Purple's Beatles covers, but I think I am unusual in liking those.

I must say I completely disagree with your first problem statement.

This song sucked from the first time I heard it from Coldplay. {#Drool}

I love this version..  Having heard the original a couple too many times, I found myself adding in the lyrics (either in my head or singing out loud) and when I got to the part where Coldplay sings "lights will guide you homes" followed by "and ignite your bones,"
my friend scowled at the igniting of your bones part.

I can only assume this is intended to mean something along the lines of "reignite someone's depressed spirits, or otherwise re-energize somebody who is "lost" in some way.

What say you RP community?  I am sure this Lyric has been discussed plenty, but thus far my web-search for its meaning has not satisfied my curiosity, so I post here, on a discussion thread for a version of the song without the lyrics, asking about the lyrics..  Genius!!  I guess that shows my level of respect for the opinions of RP listeners ;-)

Whilst I appreciate the incredible talent of the musicians and the incredible sound of these fine strings, the problem is...

... well, the problem is the original song was completely murdered by being overplayed and overplayed and overplayed.

Couple that with the fact that, well, Cold Play are just a *little* bit fond of themselves and perhaps a tad, how can I put this politely, oh sod it, "up their own arses" (to quote a quaint english saying)

Still, I can understand why people love this, just a pity about the melody. It's the musical equivalent of the titanic movie.
Instant PSD {#Boohoo}

This should be playing in the background of the chase/emergency/critical point of a romantic drama just before it resolves in a near-thing-but-positive fashion. It just seems applicable. This could also be because I haven't had enough coffee.
Excellent strings, so relaxing, thank you DJ. This is why we love Radio Paradise.

I applaud you Aud! A beautiful answer! Couldn't agree more. This version makes the song far more tolerable. The pretentious lyrics and vocal performance of Coldplay's original is stifling to a beautiful melody. Really like this.

seriously.  i left to go to the bathroom, came back to my desk, and it's still playing!  grrrrrrr
I wonder if I would have liked this, had I not already been exposed to the original (which I dislike intensely).  The arrangement isn't bad, but I can't get past that cloying melody.  I have to agree with a lot of the posts below...sometimes when one takes an annoying song, instrumentalizes it, the result is even more annoying Muzak.
Please play this song in hell for those who deserve extra punishment.
 Yep.

Started off thinking this is interesting, and by the end decided it was way too intense. 3

I believe this might be an improvement over the original....never liked the original, however, so my opinion is a bit damning with faint praise.

No NO NOOOOO! Am I at a funeral or a really depressing wedding?
I don't really need this instrumental cover, but it does serve to highlight what a powerful melody the original song had.

Part of me would love to be able to hate on Coldplay, but I find it pretty hard to do.
I love a good mournful string cover, but after an initial 7, I had to downgrade to a 6 because of this overplayed song's increasing association with any kind of elimination scene in every kind of reality show. Cue the slow motion hug montage!
I will pay money if you promise to NEVER PLAY THIS AGAIN. For god's sake.
Appalling. Why the high rating?
This song is haunting in its original form (which I really love), but this version is haunting (in a good way) as well.
