Your hands are cracking
The blood won't run
The ice will keep it all inside
All we got left is just to pray
The newest lines running on the face
That found their place to lay
And now I know that we can't stay here
We gotta move
So we can counter-stimulate

Marching into the syncopated call
It's orchestrated to play 'til we give up and just grow old
We'll continue our pursuit on through the snow
Weatherbeaten, we keep on keeping on
It's all we know

'Cause I can see the lighthouse
We can see the lighthouse

My skin's lacking
The pigmentation proving life is on the line
Change the dying to better play
These games that really do you in
When you're making up your own rules
With only pictures that curve
But we'll stand up tall
And live intimidating lives
The coast will clear up
The sun will beat down on our chests
And we'll win the rides who help our friends with more than two tight ends and cold feet will stimulate

Marching into the syncopated call
It's orchestrated to play 'til we give up and just grow old
We'll continue our pursuit on through the snow
Weatherbeaten, we keep on keeping on
It's all we know
Stimulate
Marching into the syncopated call
It's orchestrated to play 'til we give up and just grow old
We'll continue our pursuit on through the snow
Weatherbeaten, we keep on keeping on
It's all we know
Weatherbeaten, weatherbeaten, we keep on keeping on
It's all we know

'Cause I can see the lighthouse
We can see the lighthouse

I sure could use a new dose of these KC cats these days... I always dug how they capture an almost Shins-like sound on this (Sea Legs, especially)...
Distinctive and melodic. Not musical genius perhaps (feel free to say otherwise). But it is exactly makes them so much more a pleasure to hear than the overplayed “legends”.

Excellent! This all works. The true definition of Indie "Pop".

If in doubt, take a chance and buy this album. This is far from the best track - it's great throughout - but it unfortunately seems like they may have stalled in their output. They're still going, but I particularly like their 2008 release "Brain Thrust Mastery."

Yes, the entire CD is excellent.  I was hoping for more output from TRT.

So perhaps somebody should upload err recommend a song from the We Are Scientists band?
Lead singer reminds me of Cy Curnin from The Fixx.
This is a great song from a great album.

I really don't give a shit cause I'm from Jersey(exit 9)living in Kansas(on the border of Missouri).

The reason I mention this is....there is very little "new" music coming out of this part of the Country......and it appears they have some fans overseas.

Wow! Sounds middle England to me. But I suppose we have been paying homage to America for years so it's inevitable that British style electric folk comes back across the Atlantic at us. Good track!
missed these guys back then,
i looked them up to see where in England they're from
turns out KC, MO

Quite splendid album, to my ears.
So fredriley, did you finally buy the CD?

The whole CD still holds up extremely well a few years later.

If you haven't picked it up yet, the No Man's Land EP is well worth getting... and apparently, after a couple of years of silence, there's some new music due soon. From what I can tell in this (pretty crappy quality) youtube video, it sounds good! https://youtu.be/CYw5SzISiDY

When is the new Republic Tigers going to drop. It was supposed to be end of 2012. Hoping for an early 2013 release. Love the whole vibe of the tigers.

The problem is who is running the country. Big oil, gun lobby, pharma, banks, Wall St. It's no longer 'we the people' but 'We the influence peddlers'. Funny how the biggest of them pay the least to keep the country going. And now with superpacks it's out of control.

Byronape,

The USA is going through a rough patch.  It is still a great country.  Things will get better.

Most of us would much prefer to deal with the USA than many of the imperial powers that have left their mark throughout history.

There has to be something right about a country that produces music like this or a president that sings the blues.

As for calling my mother a Nazi, it was simply meant as a pop-culture reference to the "Soup Nazi" episode of Seinfeld.

In regards to the Americans as Nazi's, you are not far from the mark.  As an American, I can say with no doubt that this country has great things for the world (WW1, WW2 are prime examples), but we have also spend the last 50+ years sticking our fingers in the business of other countries when we had no business doing so.  Actions that would be called "terrorist" if taken against us are routinely done overseas and the vast majority of the American public are either willfully blind to it or buy into the hype of "spreading democracy."  Ten minutes with Noam Chomsky's Culture of Terrorism will make many things plain if any doubters are interested in doing a little of their own research.

This country has a long history of selling\giving weapons to regimes that are no better than the ones that they replaced, but just more friendly to American interests.  How many cases of violence against the civilian populace are carried out a week in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.  If only a fraction of the reported deaths of innocents are true, it's still too many.  How do you think other Americans would react if Mexico blew up a drug shipping facility in Texas because drug runners who killed Mexican citizens were holed up there?  Would it matter that it was happening to white people instead of "brown" people?  Or how about things that happen to non-English speakers?  We don't care about them, after all, they can't communicate like civilized people.

I really wish that the rest of the country would wake up and get their heads out of the sand.  Stop getting bought off with shitty tv and the newest electronic gizmo.  Turn off Faux News and MSNBC, turn off American Idol and Survivor.  Read a book.  Read international news.  See what is really happening around you for a chance.

Ugh...  I give up.

It's funny you should say that. I had my Irish accent beaten out of me by my Mam on the same grounds, that she didn't want me sounding like a "thick Mick" just off the boat, and now I have an boring non-regional accent, but have become quite a chameleon as I easily pick up accents depending on where I am and can sound like a native within a couple of months or less.

How sad. My grandmother was from the old country, Mayo, just a tad outside Westport. We were enthralled by her thick burr, how that rich western Ireland accent could make an ordinary English sentence dance and sing with vibrancy and wit. But not too closely, mind you. She'd chew a whole garlic clove every morning, and, man, she reeked. {#Lol}

When I was growing up in the SE Ohio farm country, my mother (who was then and still is a nazi when it comes to accents and word usage) would always correct me whenever I said something with the redneck drawl.  She always went on and on about how people judge you based on what you sound like when you speak and she wouldn't let one of her children "sound like an uneducated, back hills, dirt farmer."

The real irony of that is the fact that my father only has a high school education and frequently sounds like a back hills dirt farmer.

So now, when I talk, no one can tell where I come from.  I don't have much of an accent at all except when I'm really tired or after I spend more than 10 minutes talking to my dad.

Your mom is right.  People judge by how people talk.  Though, in my opinion, accent may not be as important as grammar, vocabulary, etc.  Smart people with multi-lingual experience get over accents very quickly.

But many people who live only in a unilingual environment are put off by accents.  I see it all the time here on the Barbarian Coast (knuckle-dragging, oh so populist British Columbia).   Just a slight deviation from local norms in terms of accents can send many good ol' BCers into an instant state of confusion.

You mom had the right idea.  Please don't call her a Nazi.  I grew up listening to Nazi occupation stories.  My Norwegian grandfather was a capo terrorist in the underground national resistance movement. Nazi occupiers arbitrarily executed family members in public to enforce discipline on the occupied population.  My mother suffered malnutrition.

Are Americans Nazis?  Americans bankroll military occupation and colonization.  America is the premier global terrorist organization in the world today.  Torture and concentration camps are acceptable 'methods'.  When it comes to killing children and grandparents, nobody does it better than the USA.  Many of the Jewish settlers of American origin sound like potty-mouthed Nazi propagandists.  It is the superior race BS all over again except this time it is the culture that is apparently superior.  See where that red flag 'nazi' can take us?

FWIW, both English Canadians and québécois have mistaken me for ....... American.  (I'm one proud, stubborn square-headed English Canadian albeit tri-lingual.) Once upon a time, an Argentine or two wondered if I was Chileno (bad guess) and some Chilenos wondered if I was Argentinian (better guess).

For the record....  I get all just fine with Germans. On a blind-date basis I would rather hang with Germans than most other Europeans.  And I like and trust Israelis.  How could I not?  Our personalities are too similar.......  Many Israelis are of Germanic-origin.

Hey Fred - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B0015X6QQI/ref=sr_1_1_olp?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1300462732&sr=1-1&condition=used You were looking at the wrong link. . . you can buy it for a few quid here.

I buy a LOT of used and new cds from Amazon (via a link off here so RP gets a cut). If you have an account then just add the cd to your shopping cart and it will remember for the next time you log in.

Speaking of concept albums, Pink Floyd successfully sued EMI for selling album singles on-line.  The judge made EMI pay for all expenses and immediately rejected an appeal.

I agree 100% on Golden Sand. It's a remarkable composition. It strikes me as being very daring in an age where the least common denominator rules the airwaves. I always love it when artists fly in the face of public opinion.
