Yeah,
Grab a broken branch
With a sunburnt hand
In a washed up land

Soon,
We should rest a while
We're like a tired child
It's been a lot of miles.

I might fall down
And my back is bad
We might fall down
On a sleeping back.

So you should hold my hand
While everything blows away

And we'll run,
To a brand new sun.
We will run,
To a brand new sun.

Damn,
How did it get so bad?
With all the dreams we had
Now you seem so sad.

You should hold my hand
While everything blows away

And we'll run
To a brand new sun.
We will run
To a brand new sun

We will run
To a brand new sun.

Vocal tone of Jason Lytle mimics Neil Young. Excellent segue...Beautifully done. Like the tune...the little melodic runs throughout the chorus and bridge are ear candy.

I think Lytle is also pretty explicitly referencing this song lyrically:

Young:
Flyin' mother nature's silver seed
To a new home in the sun

Lytle:
We will run
To a brand new sun.

Both about the exhaustion of a place and a way of living, and a desire to escape to a new life.

Excellent. Bill, you really nailed this.

Neil Young -> Jason Lytle

EXCELLENT segue. Well done.

A hint of irony there? {#Think}
  Still loving this song... {#Dancingbanana}

how does it sound any different than Grandaddy? if you liked them, you should like this
Dull, dull, dull.
Grandaddy was a great band.  Made me think of sleepy southern California 70's music.
Rated a "one" for super ultra heavy rotation.  Knock it off!!!
Set the Controls....
Admiral Radley (Jason Lytle + Aaron Burtch from Grandaddy and Aaron Espinoza + Ariana Murray from Earlimart) will be touring the west coast (mostly California) in July.  Their album also (I think) will be released in July.

Would love to hear some Earlimart on RP!

I love RP - don't have to explain my reasons to anyone. {#Mrgreen}{#Sunny}

I do exactly the same thing! So far I've bought:

The Shins - Wincing the Night Away
Broken Bells
Ludovico Einaudi - Divenire
The Cinematic Orchestra - Ma Fleur
Xavier Rudd - Dark Shades of Blue
Great Lake Swimmers - Lost Channels

None of which I even heard of before tuning into Radio Paradise a few short months ago

Next on my list:

Death Cab for Cutie
Guster
Elbow

Thanks RP {#Good-vibes}
I like this song, but it drives me ape because it sounds EXACTLY like a pop song - one hit wonder? - from the early 70s that I cannot place.

I just realized that if you strum your acoustic guitar over the top of your cheezy synth, it doesn't sound like the '80's any more.

I actually like the song, but I'm getting quite a few chances to deconstruct it.

Please-make it stop! Oh good. It's over. {#Cry}
Happens every time i hear this, I'm kind of not into it—-but then by the chorus I'm really diggin it.

Wouldn't hold out much hope for the tape deck though. Or the Creedence.
I like the voice and fuzzy bassline well enough for a 7.
Is this really the Beach Boys on ecstasy? Come on now don't pull my leg !{#Dance}
listenable - but seemed formulaic. Like a general background sound.  Lyrics redeem?

Next joke...
(hear that ridiculous-childish synthie?)

Yes, we will hold your hand -
just go. Please go - quickly!
IDIOT!

This is just ok. A little lifeless in my opinion.

I usually end up giving a lot of things a 5 on first listen and then adjust accordingly.  This one I am still on the fence on.  Of course I am not is a great mood today so a lot of my ratings or thoughts about ratings tend on the low side.

A 1 for the cover and a 3 for the song. I make that a resounding 2.

Bland and uninspiring comes to mind.
Sounds exactly like a Grandaddy tune, synth sounds, guitars, voice, beat. I sort of like Grandaddy. I was hoping for something a little different.
hey, i have a brand new son, too!

This song has really grown on me. {#Music}
Like his voice. The chorus is very nice.
Love it...
Flaming Arthurs. Like it.
On a first listen, I'm givin it a 7, as in good enough to download.

a nice head-bobbin' and toe-tappin' tune {#Whistle}

Me too, and I hear a bit of the Flaming Lips.
I approve. Job well done!
I saw Jason Lytle open for Neko Case at the Warfield in San Francisco last Tuesday - he and his band were VERY good - most enjoyable. I only knew of him because of RP (naturally) but wasn't all that familiar with his oeuvre. It was one of the few cases where I wasn't like all "get off the stage and get on with the main act".

But, of course, I was thrilled to see one of my 2 favorite red-headed songstresses take the stage (the other being Patty Griffin) after Mr. Lytle. I'm planning on digging deeper into his music. There seems to be a there-there.

Wow.  Two days ago, I listened to a podcast of Jason Lytle when he visited the www.KINK.FM. Live Performance Lounge (in Portland, Oregon) and he's incredibly articulate and funny.  He performed this song acoustic, and I like his music.  (The weirdness-factor here is that for almost a year, I've been without a sound-card in my computer, so I've been aching for music but have not been able to listen.  So - a couple of days ago, my brother paid to get my computer fixed, and I now have sound! Of course, the first place I went was to RadioParadise.  The second place was KINK.FM, where I heard Jason Lytle for the first time...)  I guess it's really true that great minds share the same slipstream.

Thanks, B&R, for putting this on your playlist.  You folks are amazing.
Sounds like Joseph Arthur to me.  Like it a lot.
It's got a very '70's thing going on in there to me, a little ELO, some Al Stewart kinda... not bad.
Wow sounds just like Grandaddy! And that's a good thing. Their brand of futuristic/retro/science rock was unique. Check out "The Software Slump" or "Sumday" if any of you listeners dig this
