Come as you are, sweetheart, come as you are
You know you've got nothing to prove
I'll put you to bed you can let it all go
You've been playing too rough lately
You burn too bright
You live too fast
This can't go on too long
You're a tragedy starting to happen
Just as you are, perfect, just as you are
I'll give you the time you deserve
Don't make those promises, don't tell me again
That dust is gonna settle your nerves
You burn too bright
You live too fast
This can't go on too long
You're a tragedy starting to happen
You burn too bright
You live too fast
This can't go on too long

i believe back in the day i got the first elbow song accepted to RP from this album. Any Day Now. still love that. and this track, too.
Early Elbow is nice to hear! I like much of their newer music, but I got hooked on Elbow specifically because of their early stuff. (Great album, btw)
More early Elbow, please!!

When it is NOT just musical review fluff, 'layered vocals' means having many different singing parts at the same time.
The singers could be singing the same lyrics in the same beat (meter), but on different notes, like a barbershop quartet; or they could be singing things that may or may not match lyrically and metrically, like the Dixie Chicks or the Indigo Girls; or it could be some other complex choral music, like Handel's Messiah.
With the invention of mutli-track recording, it is easy to have the same person sing all the parts in a single song; that's also 'layered vocals'.
The review of their debut album on iTunes praises the "layered vocals". What are layered vocals or is that just music review fluff?

Recognizable. Often brilliant.
I am so glad I found Radio Paradise. I can only imagine how much great music like this that I have missed and probably would have never heard. Great Song!

Ah...so glad to hear Elbow on RP. I absolutely love their "Seldom seen kid" album. A real masterpiece. And I know there is more which I haven't had a chance to explore yet....
