If the fire's out baby
How you gonna keep me warm
Supposing you left me
With the door wide open no one can leave

I know it's a lie I want it to be true
The rest of the ride is riding on you
Over goodbyes we'll buy some place for
Wishing you could

Keep me closer
I'm a lazy dancer
When you move I move with you
Wishing you could

Keep me closer
I'm a lazy dancer
When you move I move with you

If somebody's got soul
If somebody's got soul
If somebody's got soul
If somebody's got soul
You gotta make the move
Make the move
Make the move

I know it's a lie I want it to be true
The rest of the ride is riding on you
Over goodbyes we'll buy some place for
Wishing you could

Keep me closer
I'm a lazy dancer
When you move I move with you
Wishing you could

Keep me closer
I'm a lazy dancer
When you move I move with you
Wishing you could

Keep me closer
I'm a lazy dancer
When you move I move with you
Wishing you could

Keep me closer
I'm a lazy dancer

Great to hear some "old school RP" Metric appearing in the playlists again.

I've made one — a very brief one — in these parts in the latter part of this decade. Several times more expensive than can be justiied, to my surprise.

For the young 'uns...back in the day, when we were travelling, we were taught to make a collect call home with a "code" word when we had arrived at our destination. When Mom and Dad got the call, they told the operator they did not accept the call, and they knew we had arrived safely. We were happy because it didn't cost anything. AT&T was not.

I did this a lot as a kid too...and at some point instead of a live operator the collect caller said their "name" and it was recorded for the person to hear and decide "do I want to talk to this person enough to pay for the call?" well at that point we could just leave the number of the pay phone and presto, my parents would call back and we'd talk for free (big $.25 savings!)

And this topic reminds me of one of my fav ads from the late 90s..."it's Bobwehadababyitsaboy".  Enjoy!

Really digging this track, and also wondering if anyone else did what I did....after an initial rating of an 8 and enjoying the vibe, I had to lower my rating to a 7 only because the singing seemed a bit (not sure of a better word) juvenile.  Anyways, maybe after a few times listening I'll go back to the 8.

Long Live RP!!

Fantasies and Synthetica are both excellent CDs.

Somehow AT&T survived your criminal activities!

Impossibly cute track which is now completely under my skin. Lovely!
Very nice. Reminiscent of CHVRCHES.
               First, it takes some recognition.
Second, the move is a child object of know tyself.
Best song on the album, along with Sick Muse and Gimme Sympathy. Put those on rp!
What a pretty song.

Very sad, being one of 14 people left in the US without cell phones we sure could use them.{#Lol}

No age in the UK, as over here we reverse the charges. I never quite understood the derivation of 'collect call'...

You can still do this, as far as I know. If you can find a public phone box, that is - they're rarer than rocking horse droppings in these days of ubiquitous mobile phones :(

Does this mean that Metric are communists?

This whole album is beyond excellent. "If somebody's got soul, you gotta make a moooovveee". Really excellent.

What, is Emily Haines a Catholic? Has she gone all Sinead O'Connor? :o)

Sorry, I couldn't resist that. I get your point, though - this album is a grower, as for all its poppiness at times it really rocks. I'd not have come across Metric if not for RP, so once again major thanks to Bill & Becky. The follow-up album, Synthetica, is even better than this, and is played regularly in my car with the knob turned up to 11.

Love this band. Emily Haines has a range of singing styles, she is not all "breathy" all the time. Listen to their latest "Synthetica" - it's an awesome album

Metric has a great lead voice to work with but music that doesn't keep up with her talent.

Love her voice and the music is really good.
This is probably the best metric song in a excellent catalog.  The vocals are so intense, the lyrics are perfectly enigmatic but with overtones that are intimate and familiar.  I love it.
very nice...like the synth loop AND her voice...

Oh, I have to respond. that was my favorite School House Rock segment, even before  "3 is a Magic Number" and "Conjunction Junction"
(I was a little girl after all and  "Figure 8" had ice skating in it) but I loved every one of the early Math and English School House Rocks even the really funky Black Power ones like "I Got 6."

I didn't hear this in months and now I like it—-a lot! So there is something to the overplaying thing.

This album is a little more polished than their previous releases, but they are certainly building a strong catalog. If they come to your town go see them. They are a great live band.

I like this song, but I keep tensing up, waiting for her to miss a high note by a hair. {#Embarassed}
Hearing Metric on RP encouraged me to buy the CD on iTunes.  Now it is on my primary playlists.  Great stuff!

Preferably suffixed by application of warm tongue in self same ear?  Definitely works for me.

On a more appropriate note, what a good picture of her that is - you can see the passion for the song in her face.

Reminds me a little of Uma Thurman for some reason?!  (Appearance-wise that is.)

I did a mild double-take when I first heard this song, because I thought it was Dirty Martini, a band from Portland, Oregon that's done a couple of shows in our humble cow-town.  Still, I like this based on its own merits, too...{#Cheers}
got it - it's a good song

How can this song be tedious when it has so many appealing elements?  I'm not sure why the whole doesn't work for me.

I never heard of Metric until RP started playing some of their tunes recently.  They are quite good and easy to listen too.

This album is available as MP3 for $5.99 at Amazon. . .very, very much worth it. Is that the going price for MP3 albums these days? Because that seems downright reasonable.

Sound track to late Oct. early Nov. '09 for me. Really like the whole CD.
One of my favorite CD's of 2009.
Quite liking this, but can't decide if that slightly thin, slightly winsome vocal is going to coalesce or just congeal!
