stupid on the steinway
so sick upon a steinway
the sailors drown
see them talk and see them drown
and see them drink and fall around
upon the floor
sister of mine, home again
sister of mine, home again
lonely in a crowded room
the radio plays out of tune
so silently
the radio upon the floor
is stupid it plays aznavour
so out of key
sister of mine
home again
sister of mine
home again
broken on a ship of fools
even dreams must fall to rules
so stupidly
words are all just useless sound
just like cards they fall around
and we will be
sister of mine
home again
sister of mine
home again
buy a car and watch it rust
sister see them fall to dust
they fall around
in another crowded room
paint me like the shirt i'm in
honestly
sister of mine
home again
sister of mine
home again
sister of mine
sister of mine
sister of mine
sister of mine

Saw them down at Ole MIss in early 80s.  Great show.  Singer poured a beer over herself.  We loved it!!!
I always mistake this for David Bowie
I remember when this came out and how transfixed I was by the mood of it. Probably haven't heard it in 30 years. It's as cool sounding today as it was then. Thanks for putting this on, Bill.
Sounds like he’s singing off-key

They still have a ton of energy - went to see them twice and will go again...when we can actually go to a concert! The sax is always a great mood setter

LOVE this one - have so many cool memories from this time. It was SO cutting edge then, and totally holds up now!
Kindy drony and prodding. Like the Furs, but this? Not so much!
Love Brain On Furs too. https://www.facebook.com/BrainOnFurs/
This is awful.
Great song from their only consistently great album. The rest are hit and miss. Pretty in Pink? Please.
Puts me in mind of Bowie.

Man, I was a lot cooler back then.

I gotta have more flanger!

What's "their best song", and what are your criteria?
He likes his sister of mine. not their best song.
Rest in peace, Mr. Aznavour (1924-2018). May the radio on the floor continue to play you out of key or otherwise.
Man, that flanger is so overboard, but I cannot say I dislike it at all. It's actually perfect.
I just came to comment on how great The Furs sounded at a recent show I went to. They were tight, energetic, and really dedicated to putting on the best show possible. Having seen a handful of British, post-punk or new wave from the 80s recently I have to say each one of them was solidly professional and thoroughly enjoyable live.

Indeed, very Bowie-esque. I'm sure that's a word now…

Same here, John. The 'Furs were one of our faves.

Old Waldorf, 1980, such a cool band.

A hidden gem of a track...thanks for showing it to us, Bill
"Buy a car and watch it rust."...wish I woulda wrote that.

I like it. Very Roxy.
Fabulous.
Love the Furs!
Love it - brings back great memories
WTG Bill & Rebecca!
Their first album is still one of their most innovative, edgy, best IMHO, with perhaps Forever Now being their peak.
Jeremy Irons on vocals?
The dissonant sax was always a Furs signature to me.  I've probably complained before about how it got scrubbed out of the 1986 cover of "Pretty in Pink."  Including this track, Steve Lillywhite produced some delightfully gritty stuff during the early 80s.
Zoë Keating (also played on RP) collaborated on a cover version of this song (blog).
Summer 1980.  Evanston.  North Quads.  90 degrees, no A/C.  This blasting from the windows.  Whoa.  Flashback!  {#Yes}

{#Clap} ... which is not a bad thing
What a solid song, Bravo!

Always liked this one.
Qué temazo ! It doesn't seems to be from the 80...
I have not heard this song since 1988!  Takes me back
So cool (at least to me) That Tim Butler, bassist for the Furs, lives in the next town, 18 miles from me. Who woulda thought he would settle in Kentucky.
Was sure for a moment it was Bowie.
Sounds like Bowie!
I love this song,
I used to listen to it as teenager  :)
YES!
great

Me too.  Always such a great groove in their songs.
I've always liked this.
Oh man, I just missed it!  LOVE this song!  It's always been my favorite of theirs.  {#Hearteyes}

Excellent suggestions - I second that!

Just dawned on me what "We Care A Lot!" sounds like...
Mmmm . . . all of a sudden it's 1982 again.

Man, I was a lot cooler back then.
Awesome tune!  What an incredible debut album from a very powerful and influential band.  MORE Furs please - I second the request for president gas, among many others.
need good blast of President Gas too...surprised it's not listed.
One of the best songs from their first album. It goes on a bit, but the first two records have much worse tracks than this.

Still works for me—serene, warped, detached.

I don't know whether I like this or hate it.  The beat is mesmerizing, but the minor key is creepy and a little bit depressing. I think I prefer the PsychFur's more up-tempo music.  I'll give this a 7, but probably no more than that... *shrug*
More Psychedelic Furs!
Please play this again soon.
