The tried know how to please and get nothing in return
The innocent move around ever so slightly to stay within score
The guilty know how to speak and listen with deaf ears
The happy know to set themselves free
The inspired see what they need to see
And we just watch them
We just watch them fall
And we just watch them
We just watch them fall
Reminds me of Portishead
I Agree!
I really like this, what a beautiful voice - right up there with Donna Summers and Loreena McKennit.
Google says it's Leona Gray. I almost agree with another comment about it sounding thin, but after listening for longer, I think I like it.
Now have 7 All Indian Radio albums.
It sounds like she is singing from the netherworld. Way too detached.
It's almost as if they deliberately produced this recording to sound that way.
Sheesh. What a thin, reedy whine.
First time I've heard this, and one wonders what you were playing it through to make that comment. Not a heavy voice, certainly, but a sweet tone, neither thin nor reedy.
Sheesh. What a thin, reedy whine.
hahahhahahahahahahah
Thank you for you for your Coke Studio posting. Very interesting! It's nice to find positive things in the comments. If you are interested in traditional music of other cultures try these:

Bari Barsi, Josh, Coke Studio Pakistan, Season 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aa3sYXfcDYc
Put that between your ears and roll it around for a while, that's all I ask!
Try Coke Studio on Youtube. There's an Indian and a Pakistani version. There might be an Afghan one too. Pakistan version is best - you get plenty of Indian musicians on it, you don't get many Pakistani musicians on the Indian side.

Nor me. Great on first listen, for me. Thanks RP.
Explain, please!
Poacher likes the cover art and gives the song a 10 based on that alone. Hope that clears things up.

All India Radio...?
Does that include Kashmir?

Herr Poacher is referring to the cover of the album.
Seems like Terry Gilliam has expanded his artistic horizons.

Another one added to the purchase queue.
"It doesn't matter what I say
So long as I sing with inflection
That makes you feel that I'll convey
Some inner truth of vast reflection"

(The Rips is what your cats have when they start madly running through the house at top speed for no apparent reason)
That's a good term - I'll remember that. I always used to think of those periods as my cat's mad half-hour. I always wondered if she'd been scoring catnip off a neighbour when she went apeshit like that.
The cat comments have me chuckling.
Has a bit of a Grey Eye Glances / October Project / Mandalay meld to it.
Could be the love song for the last Underworld movie (not that I saw it). Just sounds like it would fit.

That's awesome. We call our cats Rocket Pigs when they do that - one of them looks a bit like a tiny, furry pig. Rocket Pig One got very excited just now while this song was playing, but it was just because he saw a possum in the yard.
Hi wolfy!
Do you think the DJ had Air India follow Porucpine Tree on purpose?
Nah, Bill just bumbles along........
I'm joking of course! Best segues in the biz.
agreed
hehe
My cats used to get the rips™ whenever I played The Police really loud. I think it was Sting's bass that got them going.

Hahaha! My cats used to freak out when I played Soundgarden's "Birth Ritual" (Singles soundtrack)— something about those high notes I guess, strikes the wrong chord with them. Me, I like it!
I love "Birth Ritual," probably one of my top 20 Soundgarden songs. . .

And cheaper to buy on bandcamp as download than other places.
Doing that right now.

My cats (and me) are cowering in the corner, covering our ears.

My cat left the house and never came back.

The guiltyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy know how to speak and listen with deaf ears
The happyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy know to set themselves free
The inspireeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed see what they need to see
You must be a member of the guilty. . .
Nope.
This voice is off the charts.
The guilty know how to speak and listen with deaf ears
The happy know to set themselves free
The inspired see what they need to see

How is it?
RP has done it again - cost me some cash! Nice stuff.
I'll second that - she's got quite some range on that voice, hasn't she? Smooth and moving. 7 from the bewitched Nottingham jury.
hilarious cover art ;)
oh and great song (btw, what's the rest of the cd like?)
se magnific!
8 9
London Grammar?
god, not again...
