First I heard this song was as a bluegrass bombshell delivered by Clarence White, Bill Keith, Peter Rowan, etal, delivered as Muleskinner. Brilliant.
This is a nice treatment.

What awesome strings!
I first heard this on a podcast from KCRW called Morning Becomes Eclectic. Black Prairie was in the studio playing and did some great songs. I immediately got the album, and the entire tracklist is good to excellent.
yes, i like it.
I really like this! It's like Western hybrid of Elysian Fields and Mazzy Star.

You should rate bad songs, that way we can improve the playlist. This is a community and your input helps. The scale is 1 through 10, it's that way for a reason.
BTW, for those who don't check very closely, 5 = Decent, and 4 = Acceptable. If you are rating songs here and cannot bring yourself to rate a song here "acceptable" even, then you have been seriously infected with a case of the Lake Wobegon Effect, and a reality check may be in order.
Heh,and there are some here (I won't mention any names) who only rate songs a '10'.

I have since bumped it up to 7, but I suspect it'll go even higher, the more I hear it. It reminds me a little of Mazzy Star, in a good way. Very spooky and ethereal. And as for the way I rate songs, if it's really bad, I don't even bother rating it, usually. *shrugs*

This whole rating system somehow works, I guess. Here's a listener who praises the song and says, "pretty good song..." but rates it as a 5. Others won't give anything less than a 10, unless it's something they despise and then they slap it with an 8. But overall the average rating seems to arrive where it ought to be. Personally I tend to ignore the suggestions of Bill and I go back to my school days. If it's a 6, it fails. If it's a 7 it's OK, it passes. *8 is good, 9 is excellent, 10 is outta this world perfection. That's what make the 1 a great designation. You send it to the trash heap.
Meaning the entire system is subjective.

Kind of reminds me a little of the SciFi space western show Firefly.

Pretty good song, actually. I like the violins and the spooky vocals. Very moody. 5, for now....

I like this - the recording is very atmospheric and clear, as if you're in the room with them. A bit like Mazzy Star with richer and fuller instrumentation. Nice voice.

So that's where they got the "rolley eyeballs" emoticons.
BTW, I'm liking the music quite a lot.
