He walked down a busy street
Staring solely at his feet
Clutching pictures of past lovers at his side
Stood at the table where she sat
And removed his hat
In respect of her presence
Presents her with the pictures and says
"These are just ghosts that broke my heart before I met you.
These are just ghosts that broke my heart before I met you"
Opened up his little heart
Unlocked the lock that kept it dark
And read a written warning
Saying 'I'm still mourning
Over ghosts
Over ghosts
Over ghosts
Over ghosts that broke my heart before I met you'
Lover, please do not
Fall to your knees
It's not
Like I believe in
Everlasting love
So he went crazy at nineteen
Said he'd lost all his self esteem
And couldn't understand why he was crying
He would stare at empty chairs
Think of the ghosts that once sat there
The ghosts that broke his heart.
oh the ghosts that broke my heart
The ghosts that broke his heart
oh the ghosts that broke my heart
the ghosts the ghosts the ghosts the ghosts the ghosts the ghosts
The ghosts that broke my heart before I met you
Lover, please do not
Fall to your knees
It's not
Like I believe in
Everlasting love
He says 'I'm so lost,
Not at all well'
ooooooooooohhh x2
After it was done when there was nothing left to be
Turned out I'd been following him and he'd been following me
After it was done after it was over
We were just two lovers crying on each other's shoulder
Lover, please do not
Fall to your knees
It's not
Like I believe in
Everlasting love
Lover, please do not
Fall to your knees
It's not
Like I ever believed in
Everlasting love

She's playing at the Prospect Park Bandshell, Brooklyn this Thursday. Four blocks from my apartment, and it's free. Not thrilled with the music but it's probably a good way to spend an early summer evening.

Yep, I got that mondegreen too, and it made me wonder if you can get a little bit too close to goats :o)
Mind you, the last goat I got physically close to peed all over my leg whilst I was stroking it, and goat pee is rank, believe me. I keep them at arm's length these days.
Not to one-up you, but I once bought a car which had previously been stolen and then recovered from a farmer's paddock with one window left open next to the barn. In short, a billy goat had been inside the car while randy and left his persona all over. Nothing could remove the smell, although an Ozonator got rid of it, so long as it wasn't raining. Had to sell the car on a dry day.

Beautiful voice. Annoying song.

Everytime I hear this song I think of Joni. There is no higher compliment! lower insult.
Fixed.
Her voice reminds me *so* much of Regina Spector...

Yeah, well, you know goats - they can be cruel.

It all fell apart when I got to the page, but I was thinking, "What? 'The goats, the goats, the goats that broke my heart,' you must be kidding."

well, it would be either a 3 or 9 for me. Not fair to average those so will abstain. Just not sure what to make of it yet. Interesting though.
absolutely love this
Well, I like it! :-)

I think it is cool, Cynaera... a little neurotic— but clever lyrics, a nice melody, and very well produced... slick music... I'm really impressed, and I like it a lot...
I hope you are having a very relaxed and comfortable day today... keep a spring in your step...
Oh, romeo... thank you. It was a bad day then - it's now, now, and a different set of weird events. I still can't listen to this without getting stressed, but I'm sure it's only because I need SLOWER lately. This song is for the quick-witted, ADD generation. I'll get the lyrics and be able to make a somewhat intelligent post regarding the song. Meanwhile, well, hugging you.

It's like Joanna Newsome on coke.

Exactly. And brave...
Hearing this drove me back here to see what others impressions of this song might be...
I'm glad to see I am not "out there" with my jumbled reaction.
Some words to describe it: neurotic, angst ridden, nervous, quirky for the sake of being quirky, repetitive, needy.... but still there I was tapping my foot for some strange reason.

lovely song..nice to hear it on the radio.
I can't listen to this after a day of stress and angst. Too many words, too fast. I like her voice, though. I'll need a few more listens, in different circumstances.

That's a neat Mondegreen.......Bill thinks so, too!
PS Mondegreen is named after the song where "they laid him on the green" was commonly heard as Lady Mondegreen.
I prefer "There's a bathroom on the right" myself....

That's certainly distinctive. There's a fine line between quirky and irritating, a line which wavers according to mood. Unfortunately my mood's a bit intolerant the now so this is the wrong side of the line, though maybe it'll be interesting when I'm in a more positive humour. 3 from the Nottingham jury and a mute.

"Shine" is a great track. On this one her lazy vocals and enunciation detracts.
too fast to sound honest...like a joke song. next!
wow! love this. off to google the lyrics so that I can torture Z's ears with my singing it in the shower.
all over the map, but she very much has an early judy collins vibe. me likey
