I'm helplessly needless, and needless to say I owe you
I'm helplessly needless, and needless to say I owe you
Well I'd wait ten thousand picks for just one more chance
Just one more chance to see your face again
Well I'd pull, teeter away, at the earth with my teeth
The earth with my teeth to touch your face alive
You
Lie
Helplessly still
As your face falls apart
You
Lie
Helplessly still
As your face falls apart
With wax and wires and hair from the back of your head
With wax and wires and hair from the back of your head
Well I can make your face brand new
Well I can make your face brand new
You are warm
You are warm
Come take my hand and I'll take your hand
And I will bring you out
Come take the line and I'll take the line
And I will pull you out
In the sun.
I'm helplessly needless, and needless to say I owe you
Well I'd wait ten thousand picks for just one more chance
Just one more chance to see your face again
Well I'd pull, teeter away, at the earth with my teeth

So boring.
What odd lyrics. I'll pass on the new face Mr. Lomond.

Not bad musically.
Any opinions about the single-malt?

All free waltz now.
It's been mentioned a few times below, but it's worth another post.
This song was used in Danny MacAskill's first pro video of what he does on bicycles. Absolutely incredible this guy's abilities. Take a look:

this is beautiful, it just makes my ears do summersaults, new favourite song for today - starts off as Golden Brown by the stranglers, to my ears. However similarity stops when lyrics kick in

Likeable!
Go PDX!
Surprises me every time; still rather new to me but I recognize and respect something incredible going on here, even if I'm not quite sure what it is! I love and worship this blessing called Radio Paradise — THAT's for sure!
I instantly recognized it as being from the video. That guy is an amazing rider; it may be a 4 minute video but I've watched it a dozen times. I believe he's riding for Red Bull. (Hey, who isn't?)

As for the broad generalizations of different genres of music, I would like to add this: As much as I try to avoid those generalizations, and urge others to do so as well, the sheer volume of music available to a listener today would be overwhelming to try to take in all at once. Humans naturally apply generalizations and stereotypes like this to make large data sets manageable. Reducing the new music you're willing to try means that you'll probably miss some things you would like, but the trade-off of missing a whole lot of things you don't like might be worthwhile. That's choice for you. Hopefully the genres you are willing to listen to give you enough new and interesting music to meet your needs.
Personally, part of what I enjoy about Radio Paradise is that Bill is open-minded about genres. I can't even list all of the bands I "found" here that would not have crossed my path otherwise. But I can say that they have spanned many styles that I wouldn't have even considered before.
Keep listening, be willing to be surprised, and the next great thing could be just a track away.

Going to see these guys Friday 10/7 here in Portland, Oregon at Mississippi Studios. Thanks RP!

Not necessarily. There is an implied "of" in the sentence. "Modesty forbids my naming the photographer." Also, you made a grammar mistake when you were trying to correct his grammar, when you wrote "forbid" instead of "forbids." And I probably made a mistake just now.

"Indie" is short for independent. Independent means that you can create whatever music you want without the Clear Channel Filter or an A&R guy telling you that it isn't palatable for the common ear. Sure, this will create a TON of music and much of it is going to be bad. However, there are literally thousands of songs from indie groups that are stellar. Many of them are played right here on RP with high ratings. In today's music scene, Indie is more of a genre of music then actually anything put out independently. Saying that everything "indie" is going to suck is just as ignorant as saying that all country music sucks, or all rap music sucks.
Take Radiohead for example, a band that I see you've rated well. At one time, it could be said that they were puppets of the label, but their last several albums have been written, recorded, and produced independently. This, by definition, is "indie" music. Do you run when you hear a Radiohead song? No, you rate it well generally.
Either contribute to the general discussion on a song, say something funny, relate an anecdote from your life that the song brings to mind, or keep silent.
I must be mostly ignorant then because I think most rap music sucks.

Interesting that they gave themselves a Scottish name when they're from the US not the UK. There's a story there I'm sure.

That's why the comment needed saying though. I used to perk up my ears when I heard the name "Indie," but now the term no longer seems to apply to a band with an independent streak, but rather the opposite. "Indie" now seems to imply moody-yet-poppy coffee shop pap. It's like the "ie" at the end has applied some sort of diminutive to the term independent, separating it from "independent" by the nature of its poppiness. This guy's stuff sounds just like every other "indie" band's.
So yeah I've never heard RH described as an indie band. "Independent" sure (as it relates to how they release their music at least). And good luck telling people to keep silent. You'll usually get the opposite response.
This song (from back in the day when "indie" meant something else) sums it up better than I can. You can find it on youtube.

Nice tweeters half way through. I'm not so sure about the 'quirky' song but it's certainly very RP and might grow on me. An initial 5 from the Nottingham jury on account of being quite fond of Loch Lomond (the body of water North of Glasgow).

I actually really, really like this song and downloaded it shortly after hearing it here in RP many, many years ago.
