There's a fire starting in my heart
Reaching a fever pitch and it's bringin' me out the dark
Finally I can see you crystal clear
Go ahead and sell me out and I'll lay your shit bare

See how I'll leave with every piece of you
Don't underestimate the things that I will do
There's a fire starting in my heart
Reaching a fever pitch and it's bringin' me out the dark

The scars of your love remind me of us
They keep me thinkin' that we almost had it all
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless
I can't help feeling

We could have had it all
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
Rolling in the deep
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
You had my heart inside of your hand
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
And you played it to the beat
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

Baby, I have no story to be told
But I've heard one on you and I'm gonna make your head burn
Think of me in the depths of your despair
Make a home down there as mine sure won't be shared

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
The scars of your love remind me of us
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
I can't help feeling

We could have had it all
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
Rolling in the deep
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
You had my heart inside of your hand
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
And you played it to the beat
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

Could have had it all
Rolling in the deep
You had my heart inside of your hand
But you played it with a beating

Throw your soul through every open door (Wohh ho ho oh)
Count your blessings to find what you look for (Wohh oh oh oh)
Turn my sorrow into treasured gold (Wohh ho ho oh)
You'll pay me back in kind and reap just what you sow

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
We could have had it all
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
We could have had it all
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
It all, it all, it all
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

We could have had it all
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
Rolling in the deep
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
You had my heart inside of your hand
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
And you played it to the beat
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

Could have had it all
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
Rolling in the deep
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
You had my heart inside of your hand
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
But you played it, you played it, you played it
You played it to the beat

Its a broad church my friend - open to everyone
beautiful and one of a kind voice
I remember my daughter when she was around 6 belting this song out. She's now 18 and about to come over from down under to do 3 months as a counsellor at Camp America. Still getting used to the fact that she's an adult and going out into the world. Goin miss her
This is her peak. The last few records have been lesser efforts. Hell of a peak though.

- Excellent lyrics that strike a little too close to home. I won't say I wish I never met her, but damn, I got my shit laid bare.
Great song, arrangement and performance.
Weasels rip my vocal cords.

To me, this is a song waiting for the hook. Its all about getting "can we get to that "We Could Have Had it Alllllaalll" yet? No.. a little more... now? No? A little more... ok now "We Could Have  Had it ALLLLLAAAaalllll"
I think she's awesome and I love to sing along with her when I am alone in my car. Probably a hot wet mess though.
To me this song is a melody waiting for the hook. Can we get to the hook yet? No? A bit more, and then, yes the big hook: "We could have had it aaaalllll". Then back to waiting for the hook to come back.
'Rolling In The Deep' was another song we used to cover in my last (female fronted) band.
I always mis-heard "Now I wish you, never had webbed feet"
(i hope i haven't ruined it for you by saying that!!)
Surely did not expect to hear this one here. Not that it's a bad song but we had this one so much all around over 'n' over that I already probably can sing and play it by now not being a musician. Cheers to Adele!
Terrible song. Blah.

Eew. That would be a waste, and denigration of her talent.
I do love this song. But there's a great cover by Linkin Park, with Chester Bennington doing an incredible job. Here's a link -       https://youtu.be/dHtwZ07N1ic

Fabulous that’s all

love or loathe her - she cannot be ignored as a cultural icon - trust me!
I have 2 daughters - if I'm allowed to play Howlin' Wolf ...
sometimes there are hits and then there are BIG HITS
Has she come close to this since? Or peaked early (at 21)? Great song, great voice
I've never heard Adele on RP.  I use to hear Amy Winehouse and wondered why no Adele.  Good to hear.

That is one hell of a voice that she's got. No wonder she's become so popular, or so I hear - I never listen to FM stations because they're uniformly sh1te, so I've not had chance to get fed up with this song. 8 from the aurally stunned Nottingham jury.

I came here to comment on the power of Adele's voice and singing. Thanks for voicing my thoughts so well, fredriley.
Got burnt out by the publicity and hype. Now that it's gone, this is really enjoyable!

Then move on to whatever enlightening music station plays your own brand of highbrow tunes - the 7.7 rating by almost 1000 listeners should be a clear indication that your  fellowship of like-minded listeners is actually quite small . . . so good luck finding that station.
Can't stand Adele, incredibly annoying crap. So sorry to see her junk polluting RP.
Not one of the more offensive manufactured offerings from a large corporate steamroller. The voice is a bit hard on the ears - in particular when she provides that trap-door opening to any word beginning with a vowel.
My guess is this album will find it's way into music collections featuring Dido, Phil Collins, Coldplay and Tasmin Archer.
Nope.

Cannot understand the hype about her - not one song of her I can endure, her music to my ears sounds just crap! {#Stop}

I can detect more harmonies and rhythm in a new jazz song than here!

It's a pity. This is a great example of a good pop song.
I don't like nothing of this girl except this excellent song

The woman can sing.

It's been a while since we had a popular song with female vocals that didn't sound like some whispery, tentative, 82 pound emo flake recorded it.

She sounds like she can slam a shot, take a punch, screw all night, and look pretty good the next morning.    hehehehe   (ok I'm being silly, but I do like this song)

I agree, and I love her voice.  I hope she stays around for awhile
doing this kind of music.

She has a great voice and sings with gusto.  Nevertheless, I am sick of hearing this yet again.

I saw it, too. Great montage. It set the tone for a rough and tumble series.

Not looking forward to winter, but I do look forward to the return of HNIC and Don Cherry's suits.
Wow! With the kids gone, I had to wait until 6:08 p.m. EDT to hear this one today. Normally I would have heard it three times by 10 a.m.
Amazing number and for those people that are pissed with it let me hand on a wee bit of IT knowledge... on your sound system all manufactures provide an ''OFF'' button. Simplicity itself. Thanks for playing it Bill.

I like her voice but I can't figure out whether I like this song. I don't much like the chorus.

Why would you listen to normal radio? I love that the gems that are played there (few though they may be) aren't shunted by Bill just because of it. I would never hear them otherwise.

Me too. Every time this comes on I want to change my rating to a 1, but stop myself when i realise that's just 'cos I've heard it sooo many times. So I leave it at "Acceptable"...

Criticizing RP for playing music that's overplayed on the pop charts is like criticizing them for not playing popular music.
RP clearly follows their own format - not what the pop charts indicate. So if you only listen to RP, I'd say this song fits in well.
Problem is that if RP isn't your only source of music, this song is insidious.
Some of us can't avoid occasional exposure to mainstream radio (I have 3 kids). Even they will jump stations when this comes on only to find it playing on the other pop station.
This will go down as the most overplayed songs of the decade...maybe the millenium.
Shame because it wasn't too bad 20,000 plays ago.

A bit anguished
Ridiculously overplayed everywhere!  RP should remove from playlist for next 2 years.

don't listen to mainstream radio, so I wouldn't know.  Mainstream overplays, but they don't always play bad stuff. glad to hear that hey are actually playing something like this.
Too much talent!!!!!!!!!!!
Do we really have to hear this song AGAIN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Even the local A.M. radio station in my pitscratch town plays this song at least once a day.  Funny thing, though - every time I hear it, I still catch myself thinking, "Day-am, this woman can SING!"  (I still think "Sampson and Delilah" by Shirley Manson would go really well after this...)

Yessssssssss!
thisssssssss!

This is one of those songs I am happy to hear start, and even happier to hear end.
This could have been arranged much more conservatively and still have a wicked kick.

For example... save the all-out belting of the chorus for the ending. and not repeat it ad nauseum.

Some good tunes but nothing else on the record that comes as close as this is to being a true pop classic.

How could anyone hate this song? It has a pure, vintage sound with some great vocals.

I think the song is great, the voice is superb... let it play... or you'd rather have some Gaga?

This woman is amazing and definitely deserves some time on RP. Both her albums thus far are surprisingly varied and well rounded, not to mention unexpectedly mature for her age. Check out Cold Shoulder off of her first album "19" for another of my favorites.

I'm bummed she had to cancel her Berkeley Greek Theater show, but hopefully she'll reschedule. From what I've heard of her live performances, she'd be every bit as good in person.

- Oshyan
still like it, even though it is being played everywhere. Think it was even on beginning of game 1 Stanley Cup Finals.
I love the little squeaks in her voice, in between the belting.

They play this song a bit on the local Orlando pop station, too. She crosses over nicely.
Straight  from the soul ... wow, what a voice, takes me back to the 60's sound, Real Soul singing.
Beautiful song and I love the way she belts it out!

As to your sobriquet, the Penny Arcade boys weighed in on the subject thusly:

I honestly thought that this was KT Tunstall at first, as the voice and backing, particularly the backbeat, are so similar to KT's work, but on careful listening it's clear that Adele has a subtly different voice. I prefer KT, but this Adele's plainly got a fine pair of lungs and can belt it out. 8 from the Nottingham jury.

I will admit, I like quite a lot of her stuff, just like I like a lot of Madonna's (nothing wrong with well-crafted dance pop).

Katy Perry is decent too. Maybe I'm just too busy admiring other assets though to really care much about the music though...
