I'm gonna make my own way
I'm gonna head downtown
Walk around, settle down,
Find me a proper drink
Don't need a helmet
To get me through life
I walk across the water
Blame it on foolish pride

Lifting me up
Tearing me down
All you give me is indecision
The classic run-around
Bringing me higher
Keeping me whole
Now I feel like I'm living
Living in a Dust Bowl

Diamonds and pearls
You're that kind of girl
You size me up, to break me down
While you're sipping on your crown royal
I'll give you shelter
Babe, it's your call
It's hard to find truth within
When you're living in your own zone

Lifting me up
Tearing me down
All you give me is indecision
The classic run-around
Bringing me higher
Keeping me whole
Now I feel like I'm living
Living in a Dust Bowl

Pride and deception
The same kind of pain
And all that's left for me to lose
Is meant for you to gain
Playing it close
Stealing your time
But who cares anyway?
I''ve gone the extra mile

Lifting me up
Tearing me down
All you give me is indecision
The classic run-around
Bringing me higher
Keeping me whole
Now I feel like I'm living
Living in a Dust Bowl
Living in a Dust Bowl

It's the BLUES. man!  There are rules to playing this genre.  And I find no clichés in this tune except -- possibly -- the fact that he's not happy with his girl.
I'm bumping this from 8 > 9--could be because of tequila consumed, or just because it is f**king awesome....  Either way, well deserved!
Somebody put this song on a movie soundtrack!
Joe rules...
awesome talented guy. Great guitarist and yes he can sing. We need more new talent up and coming. Great to see Joe playing with Eric (on utube) I miss the 60-70s when music was exciting and new releases were an event.
On RP, this, was the first song & time I have heard of this Dude.
Ooooo  Baby! Big fat 9 from All Canadians.

I could sing the same song to any typical male.
Bonamassa is always so flash. No doubt, he's a master, but for white boys playing the blues, he'll never be in the same league as the late great Peter Green.
Really like Beth Hart singing for him...Joe does Rock!

LOL I had a similar reaction to the Autobiography, although more like he became boring after stopping drugs (heck, he even married a 'regular' lady from Ohio) - really between the guitar, drugs and a longtime devotion to his mate's girl, and not knowing how to drive, and selling millions or records, yeah...boring life hehehe LLRP!!

No.  Clapton is god.  But Joe is certainly a star in his own right.  My only criticism is that he tends to be a little technical, i.e. not a lot of emotion or true feeling in this work.  I think the phrase "just because you can doesn't mean you should" applies to JB.  I love his stuff, but I also understand why some people don't think he's the greatest of the great.

I really enjoy this song and so many on this site, but I would request that Bill & Rebecca do a little better job mixing up when they play the tunes during the day. I usually listen to RP during work & on the way home and a song like this that gets played three times a month all too often it seems shows up during the workday hours such that I hear it every time.

It makes me think that I'm missing out on music that only gets played during times that I'm not listening to this site. Now the obvious solution to that is to listen to RP the entire day, but I need to sleep sometime ;-) Plus this might help alleviate some of the "GD, this song plays every day on this station, sucko barfo" complaints.

I just want to hear more, different, and more different music here on Radio Paradise.
This is fanstastic. Minimilist with lots of space between the notes- unlike much of what he does.
Very much enjoy the bass on this.

Saw Joe B at Red Rocks 8/23/17.  Been there for his show four years running.

It was an awesome performance, the best I've seen.

i love the way how rp plays that song regurlarly
Thanks to RP on this artist.  Bought the CD after hearing this song.  Now 5 years later — I'm a true JB fan.  Just saw him on the last tour.  Fan-freakn'-tastic.
Can hardly get in,  if on The Turning Away Blamed it on foolish pride.

Meh...I don't share many of the RP community's opinion on this guy. Average blues rock to me.

Thank you for acknowledging that. I know many folks here will poo-poo John because of his leanings towards pop songwriting, but I am of the opinion that he has branched out recently to other genres. And more than that, I appreciate when people who dislike his music at least recognize his talent. Naysayers - watch the video of him trading solos with B.B. King and Derek Trucks, and you will see.
There's no one playing blues guitar like this guy. Every guitar player out there .......bow to the Master.

AHHAHAH John Mayer. Joe Bonamassa would blow him off the stage with one note. But hey, the teenage girls love Mayer.

Cool follow-up to Robin Trower's "Bridge of Sighs".  I was just thinking, as I listened to that previous song, how there seemed to be similarities with Joe Bonamassa's sound.  I was thinking about queuing up Trower and Bonamassa on one of those other music web sites, when Bill saved me trouble.  {#Music}
THE MAN! Joe is God!
Joe B ROCKS!  Would be great to hear a few more of his kick-ass pieces man, they broadcast his concert at Royal Albert Hall last night on PBS and he is straight out phenomenal

This is really good - likin' the vibe. I've only read about his virtuoso guitar playing on guitar forums etc (which gets old pretty fast for me of its just continual guitar wanking). Good to know that he can sing and write tasty songs too.
Love me some Joe B.

Somebody tell Joe that there's no shame in bringing some talented song writers on board or doing some memorable covers. This guy is just too good to have such a large catalogue of good but not great songs.

This is the Standout song ! hence the title track.
Joe Bonamassa's style - vocals and instrumentals, are simply exquisite ...

I am doing our annual concert pilgrimage to Nashville in May with my "homies" to see Joe live ... can't wait.

PBS has been running the Beacon Theatre gig from last Fall as a fundraiser recently. The interviews with Joe are as incredible as his music - and he's one very dedicated musician. Any body that plays 200 gigs a year the way he does will become supremely proficient ...

Love to hear him play ... thx, Radio Paradise, for this Joe B. track to remind me, once again of just how good he is.
This guy's Big In England.
