I'm gonna head downtown
Walk around, settle down,
Find me a proper drink
Don't need a helmet
To get me through life
I walk across the water
Blame it on foolish pride
Lifting me up
Tearing me down
All you give me is indecision
The classic run-around
Bringing me higher
Keeping me whole
Now I feel like I'm living
Living in a Dust Bowl
Diamonds and pearls
You're that kind of girl
You size me up, to break me down
While you're sipping on your crown royal
I'll give you shelter
Babe, it's your call
It's hard to find truth within
When you're living in your own zone
Lifting me up
Tearing me down
All you give me is indecision
The classic run-around
Bringing me higher
Keeping me whole
Now I feel like I'm living
Living in a Dust Bowl
Pride and deception
The same kind of pain
And all that's left for me to lose
Is meant for you to gain
Playing it close
Stealing your time
But who cares anyway?
I''ve gone the extra mile
Lifting me up
Tearing me down
All you give me is indecision
The classic run-around
Bringing me higher
Keeping me whole
Now I feel like I'm living
Living in a Dust Bowl

You know a lot of people find 12 step programs can really help with trauma.
🤣🤣🤣
John Mayer is better.

all cliches
It's the BLUES. man! There are rules to playing this genre. And I find no clichés in this tune except -- possibly -- the fact that he's not happy with his girl.
awesome talented guy. Great guitarist and yes he can sing. We need more new talent up and coming. Great to see Joe playing with Eric (on utube) I miss the 60-70s when music was exciting and new releases were an event.
Ooooo Baby! Big fat 9 from All Canadians.
No. Clapton is god.
He really isn't. Once upon a time a nasty little racist, now an anti-vaxxer nutjob. Give me the beautiful inventiveness of Jeff Beck any day.
I always wonder how male artists who "tell it like it is" with women manage to have a relationship with same.
I could sing the same song to any typical male.
Clapton was God (always capitalized!) to me until I read his biography. Great musician, boring guy. I can't believe how that affected my view of his music. I find that in many biographies people live up to their interesting image (Kieth Richards, Ron Wood, Steve Jobs etc.), but not always (Clint Eastwood).
LOL I had a similar reaction to the Autobiography, although more like he became boring after stopping drugs (heck, he even married a 'regular' lady from Ohio) - really between the guitar, drugs and a longtime devotion to his mate's girl, and not knowing how to drive, and selling millions or records, yeah...boring life hehehe LLRP!!
No. Clapton is god. But Joe is certainly a star in his own right. My only criticism is that he tends to be a little technical, i.e. not a lot of emotion or true feeling in this work. I think the phrase "just because you can doesn't mean you should" applies to JB. I love his stuff, but I also understand why some people don't think he's the greatest of the great.

I enjoy this song but yeah, the clichés .... arrgh. Joe could use a strong-willed editor.
Clichés? What do you mean?

It makes me think that I'm missing out on music that only gets played during times that I'm not listening to this site. Now the obvious solution to that is to listen to RP the entire day, but I need to sleep sometime ;-) Plus this might help alleviate some of the "GD, this song plays every day on this station, sucko barfo" complaints.
I just want to hear more, different, and more different music here on Radio Paradise.
Saw Joe B at Red Rocks 8/23/17. Been there for his show four years running.
It was an awesome performance, the best I've seen.
that's a not uncommon reaction for RPsters, and what's even better is not being bombarded with Cialis this, Viagra that, Humaria me, Eliquis us and Lyrica them. LONG LIVE RP!

The same amount of people don't think Clapton is God.
They're asking me if they'd surprise me too.

Red Rocks ROCKS!!!!! The best concert venue in the US...can imagine how awesome JB would have sounded there!
And Joe is back at Red Rocks July 19, 2016. Yay. See you there!
He is on tour like perpetually, make sure you see him sometime, tight band, the guy can play!
Like him or not (I generally choose the latter), John Mayer is an outstandingly talented guitarist, and his range is not just limited to blues guitar. I prefer Bonamassa's music and playing.
Thank you for acknowledging that. I know many folks here will poo-poo John because of his leanings towards pop songwriting, but I am of the opinion that he has branched out recently to other genres. And more than that, I appreciate when people who dislike his music at least recognize his talent. Naysayers - watch the video of him trading solos with B.B. King and Derek Trucks, and you will see.

BTW: Southern California does have four seasons (though not on a 12 month cycle necessarily):
1. Drought.
2. Fire.
3. Mudslide.

I caught the 2nd night of Joe's recent concert in Vancouver. Front row center seats for the show. Joe is the real deal.
I saw Joe at Red Rocks last year with the same quality of seat. The man can play the guitar and puts on a great show.
If if happens, and it looks as though it may, it could be an ironic reversal of fortune if those affected begin migrating East (or at least elsewhere):

Lately, it seems as though there is either not enough water (California) or way too much water (Texas).

Nope. John Mayer wouldn't know blues guitar if it hit him in the face. Mayer is a popular guitarist but to mention Mayer in the same sentence as Joe is disrespecting Bonamassa's superior talent.
PS A big thank you goes out to Bill for NOT playing John Mayer.

Oh Please - Joe is the winner hands down

And tomorrow he's one of the lesser known artists at Pinkpop festival here in the Netherlands, in the shadows (in terms of popularity) of the Rolling Stones and John Mayer. Hopefully they'll broadcast some of his performance.
AHHAHAH John Mayer. Joe Bonamassa would blow him off the stage with one note. But hey, the teenage girls love Mayer.

I'm big in Japan!
Do I love RP? Yesssssss.
that well known guitar hero?
!$%)&#%!! I missed it. Story of my life. Well, maybe he's coming here soon. Yeah. Maybe.
Thank you radio paradise for turning me on to yet another artist...
Damn, I missed that!

Thank you for playing Joe!!! If you haven't seen him LIVE I highly recommend. It will be a show you won't soon forget.
He's coming to the Wang in May. Probably a mighty fine place to see him do his low funk.
You must have some groovy elevators where you live....
So glad we have a expert on wanking here..hope your wrist is ok after listening to this.

Now there is a name I haven't heard in a long, long time.
He's as hot as Steve Vai when he first soloed on the national scene; in the vinyl era- what? - 1984?.

What is a dust bowl anyway?
The Dust Bowl refers to a part of American history. Read about it here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dust_bowl. Or for a particularly inspiring, albeit fictionalized version, try John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath.
but a nobody in Mauretania!
I hear Milli Vanilli (if I try)!
Dislike the song! What is a dust bowl anyway?
Turn up the volume!
...and I'm hearing a little Alvin Lee.
This is the Standout song ! hence the title track.
I am doing our annual concert pilgrimage to Nashville in May with my "homies" to see Joe live ... can't wait.
PBS has been running the Beacon Theatre gig from last Fall as a fundraiser recently. The interviews with Joe are as incredible as his music - and he's one very dedicated musician. Any body that plays 200 gigs a year the way he does will become supremely proficient ...
Love to hear him play ... thx, Radio Paradise, for this Joe B. track to remind me, once again of just how good he is.

How can I upvote parts of a comment and downvote other parts. Oh, never mind. 🤣
