Lost myself in every way
I see your love in all you do
I see myself in you
the story goes on and on
Here in the woods, now my friends
See you there hang a ribbon on a branch
Feel my feet on the soil
Free of trouble free from it all
Feel the air under your feet
(?)...all of me
First steps you take, best thing you make
never alone always awake
key to a bridge, open the door
so many more before
Here in the woods, now my friends
See you there hang a ribbon on a branch
feel my feet on the soil
free of trouble free from it all
(He's a prickly guy)
This song may have the longest, most varied, and utterly useless waste of time comments about similarities to other artists/songs of any track on RP. Can we just get a new separate comments section for "sounds like X to me" so I can easily filter out the nonsense?
Humans are basically pattern recognition machines. It's built in to us. I find it fascinating to see how our disparate brains try to fit new information into our known consciousness, including, especially, Popeye.
Maybe, but it's also a good one for us old listeners that are happy, coherent, and living a life that embarrasses our grown children.
Exactly.....As I say to my friends " It's not our fault we still feel funky. "
Funny about that, I'm actually hearing a bit of the Ukrainian song "Monakh" by DakhaBrakha coming through in the falsetto singing at the end.
Nice! Album purchase imminent. Thanks again RP.
RP is a danger to my music budget.
Elevator music for the somnolent.
I'd be happy to be trapped in an elevator if it was playing Younger Brother! I'm picturing an elevator that plays Younger Brother while taking me to a rave or some kind of really cool party . Yep, I'd hang out in that elevator. Hey, the elevator might be where the "recreational activities" are happening. I guess you can take that a couple of different ways.. OK, that was a great daydream, back to work now...
Similarities between Porcupine Tree and this group.
Check your ears....one has crunchy guitars & the other is synth driven. You are confused with production techniques.
Similarities between Porcupine Tree and this group.
maybe a little Perfect Circle as well !
yeah, progressive rock beat
YES! That's what I was thinking...after the intro which sounds like it's Low-Fi...and then a really nice chill groove till the Popeye part...and then groove again till the end. It's an 8 from me.
PS - between you and WonderLizard, whenever I see your comments I think it's mine for second. LizK could be my nickname's nickname!
+1 to 9 today, this one sounds great both loud and soft. LLRP!!
I know, I have wink-perceptive ears :)
Cool tune
That's weird.
I perceived a nod.
Porcupine Tree vs Younger Brother. And it's Porcupine Tree in an amazing 1st round TKO!
I don't see the "vs" here. I see PT and Younger Brother floating down this beautiful sonic river, briefly drawing closer together, nodding knowingly at each other, then floating their separate ways.

Oh, but they are so very appropriate, eh?
Wait, yer right, I see that now!
I am hearing communication with planet Ork (ala Mork)
Since this comment, I have heard Popeye every single time, and it somehow makes the song MORE powerful and moving. I picture a music video with Popeye just... free from it all.
8+ here !
Thank you Radio Paradise

My score card reads Younger Brother with the TKO. To each his own but that's why we all love RP....
The intro sounds a bit like That's The Way. Just noticed it was played 2 songs earlier today, you might be on to something.

Just don't think about Neil Young's Old Man as you listen to the intro ;)
You forgot the partridge in the pear tree.
It's not a melody; it's a Dm9 chord played with an arpeggio. Both songs' chord progressions vary dramatically after that first chord. If anything, it's more of a "nod" than an act of "stealing".
Arpeggio:
A broken chord is a chord broken into a sequence of notes. A broken chord may repeat some of the notes from the chord and span one or more octaves.
An arpeggio (Italian: ) is a type of broken chord, in which the notes that compose a chord are played or sung in a rising or descending order. An arpeggio may also span more than one octave.

Never read the lyrics!
But like it all the same.
I can hear the resemblance to PT or Steven Wilson.
But like it all the same.
True, they fall to the left, not the right. You'll have to bring it up with Storm Thorgerson; oh, wait, he died.
Neil Young's 'Old Man'
thanks, I was thinking NY stood for New York
. . . or Porcupine Tree.
...and that would be?
Neil Young's 'Old Man'
...and that would be?
That'll be because it was designed by Storm Thorgerson
I thought it looked familiar.
Ergo: They both get rated a 2 or lower. This is unlistenable.
at least it's not that Peter Frampton thing
I was thinking more Yes or Alan Parsons Project.
"Oh, Pink Floyd brought out a new album?"
I like Younger Brother. 9.
I thought you were kidding, and now I have coffee on my keyboard.
Nice song too.
Guess I should just buy the album.
I'm thinking the same.
"I really like that. Damn, not Younger Brother again."
Same thing I thought with Poe and Elbow. Bill & Rebecca steer me in the right direction.

I like Younger Brother. 9.
That happens to me almost every time I play RP!! A voyage unexpected...
Trulykenyan,
Cannot ex-pats adopt Kenya as a new home? Or are you marketing black market items with nicknames? Curious.
Great music BTW. Would sound terrific in just about any corner of Kenya (that is not too close to Somalia).
Are you a little bit idiot or are you trying to be ironic? What's the problem with Kenya or with Trulykenyan's comment?
Younger Brother is an automatic 9+
And every time I listen to it I hear something new. Amazing stuff.
Guess I should just buy the album.

Just as good! Reminds me of a little known Canadian act called King Cob Stealy
What a great song!
I was thinking more Yes or Alan Parsons Project.

Love it too listen to TRAIN on the Vaccine Cd
I think lots of people channel Floyd, but these guys actually got Storm for the album cover. Why are there so few references to vaccine in the net?
Give in Genesis, starring this b-singer. I'm forgetting names of uninteresting people, always. Ashes on my head-
