Oh the bitter winds are coming in,
And I'm already missing the summer.
Stockholm's cold but I've been told
I was born to endure this kind of weather.
When it's you I find like a ghost in my mind,
I am defeated and I gladly wear the crown.
I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June
And you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too.
No, I'm not asking much of you
Just sing little darling, sing with me.
So much I know, that things just don't grow
If you don't bless them with your patience.
And I've been there before, I held up the door
For every stranger with a promise.
But I'm holding back,
That's the strength that I lack,
Every morning keeps returning at my window.
And it brings me to you,
And I won't just pass through,
But I'm not asking for a storm.
I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June
And you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too.
You know I'm not asking much of you,
Just sing little darling, sing with me.
And yes, I might have lied to you,
You wouldn't benefit from knowing the truth.
I was frightened, but I held fast,
I need you now at long last.
I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June
And you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too.
No, I'm not asking much of you,
Just sing little darling, sing with me.

Filmed in Joshua Tree where Gram's body was taken to...
Its was one I had as an insta add from LRC. It's still quite lovely winter song. I enjoyed the comments,, mostly,, seems a hard song to hate, to me.
Still in love...
Oh, thank God! I tuned in just the second song after this hour's piece of Bob Marley boredom. And caught this nice piece of Scandinavian Country, besides.

Oh wait, I just realized they're Swedish.
That explains it.
This song is breaking so many "how to write a good song" rules.
That bridge is so bad-
Write the lyrics kids,... fill it out.
Damn

Given that all musicians are influenced by those before them, the more interesting question is, who are they influenced by? In this case, it's obviously Emmylou Harris. This show excellent taste.
I'm almost certain that sonic researchers could take her voice and develop a device for stripping paint.
It's already doing a fair job on my ears.

One of my favorite songs of 2012. The whole album is good.
Love it. Thanks RP.

In the running for Song of the Year!
I still don't enjoy their cover of "When I Grow Up" as much as the original but I must say that they have pretty wonderful voices. Of course I suspect that Karen Dreijer Andersson and Olof Dreijer have a lot to do with helping them since their record was produced on Rabid Records which is owned by The Knife.
Very enjoyable. Has a sadness about it, sentimental, bitter sweet.
Abba does country. Quite nice but not for buying.
I hear many songs in this vein...strong vocally, but so weak musically. Not that the playing is bad, but rather unimaginative.
Pretty song, fine singing, cool message.
Here's to Graham & Johnny & June - their music lives forever.
And here's to Emmylou- still here to make new music for us.

This song echoes a cut on the Emmylou Harris album "Luxury Liner" which has the lyrics "..if you'll be my tall dark stranger / I'll be your San Antonio Rose". These women obviously cut their teeth on Ms. Harris.

Really like this, reminds me of Alela Diane. Will purchase ;-)
I am in love.
Swedish? Sweeeeeeet. Nice foot tapping sing along melody.
At first I thought this was She & Him. I like it!

Not hard at all to fall in love with these Swedes and their music...
Yipiee-Ya-Yay!!!
I'm still upset that this was sitting in my "To Be Uploaded Pile" waiting for a open slot in my 10 load limit.
Way too slow over there in the LRC.
Another blow in my upload averages.

Absotively and posilutely. I grew up with classic country on the kitchen radio in the 50s, and this has that wonderful tone and feeling. An amazing album (be sure to get it through the RP Amazon link).
These ladies really nail that classic sound with their own ghostly Swedish spin...their cover of Fever Ray's "When I Grow Up" is even better.

Hot damn - got me to log in. Love this! Great lyrics and great feel. Cover art is kinda nice, too - in a trendy, retro way. The whole thing reminds me of Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood. And that's pretty awesome in my book - as is any Emmylou reference.

God I love this song. I've been a musician for 40 years and it just explains so much ... why you tolerate that a**hole guitar player (he's the only one that can do Robin Trower right) or that utterly self absorbed female singer (she looks fantastic on stage and you live to play drums for her).
Both true stories.

It has an innocence that is bittersweet. Having 3 of the 4 no longer with us gives it a sense of sadness.
Really nice. The lap steel is a very nice complement to their harmonies.

First time I've heard this band, although a good friend has been recommending this CD to me for a while. Very nice.
Great song!! Love the reverb sound as well as the name-dropping!!
I'd be happy to hear more that. It has a kind of crystalline clarity.
I like it
My daughter first recommended First Aid Kit to me (it's usually the other way around) . Purchased the CD and I am very happy I did. Very nice.
Nice voice, pleasant music, I'll give it a 7! Kinda sounds like Emmylou Harris, too.
Love it.
