i disagree because i enjoy seeing the opinions. i think what i don't appreciate is trying to sway an opinion. we all know that if i feel one way and you feel another, i'm not going to make you change your mind about a song. but i'll listen to the "why" if there is one. i think it's interesting to see all the opinions and how they differ. 
now, if you don't want to read the opinions, then don't.

i enjoy the comments here because in many cases people talk about experiences they have when they have heard a specific song for the first time, or where they were when it dropped and what it means to them or how their opinion has changed about it after some time...that kind of thing is great about the comment section to each song on RP.

The original series gradually spiraled into the depths of cheesiness. 

And any movie with Mimi Rogers and Heather Graham in tight spacesuits can't be a total loss.

Interesting...

...this is used as the music lead-in to the "slightly downer" intro monologues of CBC program "Q".  (There is also a tune for "upper" monologue... a Radiohead intro looped, Planet Telex - and a "very downer" dirge tune, usually for death of a good person or a good idea)

Some of the monologues are pretty neatly drawn... some, kind of stupid.  But I always try to hear them.

I think the monologues - and the program - may be suffering from saccharine creep.... and so might Moby

Yes, but he also did some end title music or tracks for the Jason Bourne movies. That was not quite at this level or that of his cuts off Play or Songs, and some of that stuff, jeez, is more than 15 years old already.

I'm with you, I had no idea he had anything new out. Seems like he was everywhere for a while, including a FANTASTIC James Bond theme, then he faded away. And if you can believe it, that Bond theme came out sixteen years ago... <sigh of getting older>

Great story! 

I like his sound, but the cuts I've liked most have sampled great African-American voices and songs that may very well have their own great stopping power. Who gets the credit in those cases—the sampled works or Moby for arranging electronica around them?

I miss Moby. He can be a bit pretentious, I can see why he shuts some people down, but a lot of his sound has the smooth, mellow or passionate and evocative groove I really dig. Lush rainy NYC 1 a.m. lounge music that gets to my emotive centers.

i'm in full agreement. i never used to be a fan until around 1997. now i couldn't tell you what cd of his i like the best. some is just so ambient and perfect...it's great for background, and for driving.
