Stars fall out of the sky, my love
One by one as years go by.
One by one all the ghosts of the night
Whisper my name and fly away.
I don't wait for their return
I don't wait for their return
Across the miles, a goal return
Reaching for into the night.
In the dust of this highway song
I whisper your name and fly away.
I will wait for your return
I will wait for your return.
I will wait for your return
I will wait for your return.
One by one as years go by.
One by one all the ghosts of the night
Whisper my name and fly away.
I don't wait for their return
I don't wait for their return
Across the miles, a goal return
Reaching for into the night.
In the dust of this highway song
I whisper your name and fly away.
I will wait for your return
I will wait for your return.
I will wait for your return
I will wait for your return.

That guy singing background vocals isn't half-bad. He may have a future in music.

Is there a Repeat button here?
Alison Krauss followed by Patty Griffin! RP might have found the last remaining ounce of love flowing in my veins.....

Their harmonies draw me like sirens to the rocks.
Two of my favorite singers. I've had the good fortune to hear each live. Kinda wish they were living happily ever after and making more music together.
She could sing the labels off of cereal boxes and I would sit in rapture.

"Don't Let Me Die in Florida" has a jump to it. Having said that, I agree that the mood is different from a lot of her earlier stuff. I also agree that there is some deeply beautiful stuff on the CD.

Beautiful. :o)~ Connecticut.
Patty Cool..
Nice harmonies. Makes me long for the highway. The road into Savannah...all them trees hangin' o'er the streets...
Lovely.
I'm a big fan of Patty's, but I don't care for the songs she and Plant do together. Reminds me a lot of the stuff he did with Allison Krauss, who I also like but didn't like on her own but not with Plant.

Restrained and beautiful.

Patty played San Francisco recently and to my regret played very few of her really good older songs, focusing more on those that appear much weaker, albeit newer and probably intended to induce purchases. She also played, to my taste, way too many gospel-type songs. I suppose one pays to see and hear a performance and must take what is offered. However, with such a remarkable array of her own compositions to work with, I simple don't find her singing Jimmy Durante as an encore to be what I came for. Que lastima

Through the grapevine: They broke up.
I know, I know, it's painful. Plant has now revealed the relationship came to an end, telling Britain’s Radar magazine he experienced a shift both “culturally and slightly spiritually” and ploughed his heartbreak into his new music. He adds of a recent trip back to his native U.K. with Griffin, “She didn’t share my penchant for cider and the Black Country (English area) character I became after four pints of Thatchers (cider). My feelings are very much ones of sadness and regret.”
They make a nice couple.

Yep, my guess from hearing him now is he would be hard pressed to do that now to the same effect.

This IS the same guy who gut-howled Communication Breakdown and Immigrant Song, right?

The album is a tribute to her dad who passed away. There are no upbeat songs on it. It is, however, a beautiful and moving piece of work.

I like a lot of the Patty Griffin songs that RP plays. But this one is just tooooo sleepy. I hope there's some more upbeat stuff on this new album.

Yep, I'll second that. Maybe the 'elegaic' quality of the songs on this CD is down to the influence of her hubby, some guy who used to play in some obscure rock band ages ago... ;-)
Edit: Bill's just said that the album is a tribute to her father, who died recently, which would explain its downbeat nature. Thanks for the info, Bill - I'll listen to songs from the album from a new perspective now and perhaps appreciate them more.

Sounds like Civil Wars. Not bad.

Expected more from this.
The blending of vocals with the fingerpicking of the guitar is beautiful. Solid 10.
Another great song from Patty's excellent new album.
Patty Griffin = 8
Robert Plant = 4
I give this a 6.
