out of the floor
quietly stare
a poisoned mouse
still who alive
is asking what have i done that you wouldn't have
what have i done that you wouldn't have
stare through window
window is cracked
weight of the world
twists through your back
alone you will stand
stars take the skies
hide me good
and we'll survive
what have i done that you wouldn't have
what have i done that you wouldn't have
money's a burden
the fools in the flood
money will turn to same old blood
I cannot speak for you
you can sing just as well
the streets of heaven are lined in gold
see you in hell
so what have I done
what have I done
Helvetica!!! Aiee Carumba, flashed back to an illustrating job using Letraset press type and mechanical pencils with light blue lead to mark our lines, aaaaahhh jeez that was like 39 years ago... used a pressing tool to put each letter down and an electric eraser to remove any mistakes, crazy fun art department back then, each with our own little radios playing crappy stations, ha ha ...
Great song by the way : )
shame on you for appropriating his name just to get attention
Agreed, quite lovely. Reminds me a bit of Fairport Convention.
rdo, you completely miss the meaning of the poem... it is much too subtle for a literal and blunt human like you...
it is an anti-war poem that is a parody of all the pro-war truisms, platitudes, and clichés... not only does cummings mix babble in with the statement to make it all absurd, but also consider why the dude rapidly drinks a glass of water after the statement— why would the dude be nervous about what he said?
Everybody in my mushrooming multitude of homeless camps loves this song... hope life is grand for you right this minute, rdo... time flies when we're having fun...
Thank you Lazarus for those great poems. Loved especially "she being Brand" with its excellent use of line breaks.
Everybody in my galactic presidential campaign believes this ee cumings song is soooo good for the external auditory meatus... we love sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll... hope life is grand for you right this minute, kcar...
Hope they didn't pay a lot for the album cover design.
Probably got it done for a beer or two. Designing album covers is not the lucrative career it was once thought to be.

Excellent contribution! Thank you Lazarus
(cummings was a hack BTW and many better poets would never write such shit, I am responding to Lazarus's poem below, which I am not bumping on purpose...FYI he frequently deletes his posts when I respond to them)

I do declare Lazarus, I am surprised you have time for poetry, what with all the dancing and such they you are always doing.
Hope you are having a marvelous time right this minute, GawgaBoy...
we be dancing... love this poetic song... here's a poem by e.e. cummings—
next to of course god
by e.e. cummings
“next to of course god america i
love you land of the pilgrims’ and so forth oh
say can you see by the dawn’s early my
country ’tis of centuries come and go
and are no more what of it we should worry
in every language even deafanddumb
thy sons acclaim your glorious name by gorry
by jingo by gee by gosh by gum
why talk of beauty what could be more beaut-
iful than these heroic happy dead
who rushed like lions to the roaring slaughter
they did not stop to think they died instead
then shall the voice of liberty be mute?”
He spoke. And drank rapidly a glass of water
(and yes, Whip is also interesting...)
This song is very very groovy... reminds me of this poem—

Not a criticism, just an observation. I'm giving it a 7.
