If I could make a wish
I think I'd pass
Can't think of anything I need
No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound
Nothing to eat, no books to read
Making love with you
Has left me peaceful warm and tired
What more could I ask
There's nothing left to be desired
Peace came upon me and it leaves me weak
So sleep, silent angel go to sleep
Sometimes all I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Yes to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Peace came upon me and it leaves me weak
So sleep, silent angel go to sleep
Sometimes all I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Yes to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Sometimes all I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Yes to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Yes to love you

this is one of my all time favorite songs. KD's version puts me to sleep. something is lost in that one for me. but this one, and the maverick's version - sweet.
I really like this song. I also really like K.D Lang's cover which I would have never heard if not for RP.

He's breathing the air, man!
Love everything about this song, just wonderful!
Lyrics for the ultimate lovesong?
Love that George Harrison-like early 1970's guitar sound. Brings back great childhood memories cruising in my Mom's boyfriends 1966 cherry-red GTO on El Cajon Blvd. in San Diego with his 8-track blaring

Yes,  the chord progression is essentially the same in the verses - not the choruses - (and the Hollies' song has a pre-chorus), but the melodies are not even close to being "identical".

Timeless. Thank you RP!
The ever-so-slightly colorized eyes on the album art are kinda creepy.
Pure cheese.
Delicious, irresistible, sing-along cheese.

Not really, though I always felt that Nash's best work was when he with The Hollies.

Apparently not.

What's not to love?

Beautiful music, and lyrics that unwrap a long ago, warmly remembered summer.

Close your eyes, inhale slowly, and just feel......

Used to think this was a 9; now realise it's a 10.

:-)
An all time classic.
Bus Stop ?  Love that song
Such a signature guitar.... echo of a distant time and memories...
I have always loved this song...it is corny but such a good melody
So hard not to sing along, sounded like just what I needed, headphones on and trying to work... my office mates would think me even madder than usual. I was biting my lip. Thanks for the play!

Hm. I love Lana but her song really sounds a lot like Creep... to me more so than Creep sounds like The Air That I Breathe... I mean it's not like those "same 4 chords" that make up 50% of all pop songs, these are quite distinct harmonies happening in the exact same sequence. "Inspired" would be a nice way to describe the similarity.
Takes me back to Ocean City MD 1970's. This song played at the boardwalk amusement park.
Me a girl and the beach at night.
Amazing.  The only Radiohead song worth a crap was a ripoff.  Weak.
Ah, nostalgia.

Supergrass to Lennon to The Hollies - very nice
Great pop song!!!!!! Love how the verses lead into the release of the chorus. Not to mention the guitar and strings.

    Gr8 song!!!
I love this so much.

Perhaps you should've just stuck to "I don't like this".

I would think that would likely be the other way 'round… Doctor Who jokes aside, of course.

Wikipedia: "Creep" shares a chord progression and melody with "The Air That I Breathe", a 1972 song recorded by the Hollies. The song's writers Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood sued and received cowriting credits and a percentage of the song's royalties.According to Hammond, "Radiohead agreed that they had actually taken it ... Because they were honest they weren't sued to the point of saying 'we want the whole thing'. So we ended up just getting a little piece of it."

Whoah...I recall hearing this the summer I was 12 years old, playing with my friends David and Roger, and all of us breaking into full-throated song with the chorus as it came on David's sister's radio that we could hear from her window...Heady times, indeed! (That clanging, mournful guitar, especially the intro, reminds me of Gordon Lightfoot's masterpiece 'Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald,' too...)

Such a radio hit and that high guitar solo, so identifiable... triggers some memories for sure.

The album pictured above (and this song) came out about five or six years after Nash left the band.  It would be cool to hear some of The Hollies tunes from his era here.

yoinks!     '74  jeez   (I kind of like it  ; )
oldie but goodie
Wow, first time i hear this on RP. Normally on German radio stations 1 time a day!!{#Cheesygrin}
Wow, all the good tunes this morning.  Rocking at my desk.
Such a great song and so many good covers such as k.d. lang, The Mavericks, Simply Red and Phil Everly.

Few music lovers are aware that it was written by Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood and originally recorded by Albert Hammond who also sang "It Never Rains In Southern California."
A perfect sampling of the mood of the time.
Yes, the Hollies did survive after Nash's departure.  Very differently, but still pretty good.

At least an 8 ...
 Interesting. My favorite Radiohead song.

The intros to both tunes start with an Asus2 to some variant of a G chord - though I think Gordo used a capo up two frets.  This tune was written a couple of years earlier.
This was just what i needed right now!

Thank you so much *walkinghomeinthwrainafterabigfightwithmylove*

The Hollies were done after Graham left.

No Graham songs from The Hollies here at RP.

Ho 'bout some "Carry Anne' or "Bus Stop" to remedy that problem?
