Ohhhh - I love this singers vocals. Rich…
I heard this and immediately thought of the vocalist(s) for Sesame Street's "The I - in the Sky" song.
Why on Earth does he periodically screech at the end of a line?

Ah BillG, me thinks this is not a random segue from Shawn Colvin's "Shotgun down the avalance"?
It certainly has the same guitar picking melody... are you checking to see who else notices it?

The definition of a "6 - Pretty Good" should include a link to this song.
There's actually a pretty good reason why he won't pass this way again ....
Used to see Ian Moore at Steamboat(?) in Austin ages ago. Amazing talent, and ahead of his time.
Fun fact: he played 'Randy' in Billy Bob Thornton's 'Sling Blade'.

Now I can't get the "I in the Sky" song from Sesame Street out of my head....
I never heard this song before, the universe saved it for me tonight when I needed it most. I keep thinking relocation is the change I need, but I love my town. Perhaps my 12 hours of community service at Meals 4 Wheels will lead me to some kind of revelation. I'm just looking foward to greeting the old folks who rely on it ♥

Went to see Ian Moore just because I heard his music on RP. A good show.

It sounds similar to those songs and many others (e.g.: Seger's "Turn The Page") largely because it strings together chords from a traditional "folk' scale (Dm - C - G - F, in this case).
Same melody and cadence as Tina Dico - Sacre Coeur

Nice tune. And it was used in the soundtrack of great PC game "Alan Wake" before.

You say that like it's a bad thing.
A nice, poignant song, but the "oom-chikka" does rather remind me of Mungo Jerry's In the Summertime :o)

pls play Caroline by Ian, it's still pending in the submissions que - super sweet song..
overall, this is a nice song.... but that break in his voice is just too gimicky and over emphasized. It really holds the song back

What! A few months without RP? I need a daily fix :-)
Haven't been on here in a few months. Just tuned in a couple songs ago and this song reminded me why I need to listen here more often. NICE sounds... Cheers!

Fantastic musician.
i knew it was about the Civil War
Thought it was Dave Grohl singing...
He won't piss this way again?
That falling voice!
Nice melody... 7 -1 for the "falling" voice = 6

well Ian, I hope you do pass this way again, you've got a cool sound man!
Nice.
Common theme, but well done.

Kind of dropped off of the radar for me after "Modernday Folklore" (1995). I went to some funked up beer garden in Houston to see him after his song "Muddy Jesus" hit the airwaves. Unfortunately I left before his scheduled appearance--bored and nothing to do but watch a thunderstorm rolling in. My loss, the storm ran through and I heard later that his band played really well. Nice to hear from him again--not the sound I would have expected at all but I like it.
