I'm gonna need somebodies hand
I'm gonna need someone to hold me down
I'm gonna need someone to care
I'm gonna writhe and shake my body
I'll start pulling out my hair
I'm going to cover myself
with the ashes of you
and nobody's gonna give a damn
Son of a bitch
Give me a drink
One more night
This can't be me
Son of a bitch
If I can't get clean
I'm gonna drink my life away
Now for seventeen years
I've been throwing them back
Seventeen more will bury me
Can somebody please just tie me down
Or somebody give me a goddamn drink
Son of a bitch
Give me a drink
One more night
This can't be me
Son of a bitch
If I can't get clean
I'm gonna drink my life away
My heart was aching
hands are shaking
bugs a crawling all over me.
Producer: Hey nobodies written a song about a son of a bitch, whata ya think?
Artist: Lame.
Producer: I'll get the contract.
Wife in the next room says, "Sounds cool, what's that?." I say "you need to see this."
Love it. Just fires you up.
Seriously though, try matching that clapping -- I don't think clapping is often a backbeat, it's usually on the beat...
Friends don't let friends clap on 1 & 3
Can't play that on FM! Glad we can hear it here.
Our local college music station has this as their 5-o'clock-on-Friday anthem. It's where I first heard it. They seem to have a lot more leeway in what they put on the air, and it's a better station for that.
As someone who has become sober, I find the happy and bouncy nature of the song disturbing.
He is asking for help.
I' m now 3+ years sober, and I still love this tune as much as the first time I heard it. Maybe you're in the wrong aa group. In my home group we laugh more at stuff like this, and our former drinking behaviours, than we do despairing about our former lives.

thanks Nate!
now, Somebody give me a goddamn drink!
And your point being?
cheers,
just saw a better comment down the line. But it is a
truly catchy song (while detoxing?) and some of us have been pretty
close to there...
Interestingly enough I think it is a very very good band. One of my greatest finds last year. They make my day anytime
Although I can't complain. There are many worse earworms.
SONNOVABITCH!!!.....
As do my kids... Luckily they think the chorus is "Sun on the beach."
Same thing happened at the Bourbon and Beyond Fest in Louisville last September as well. It was fantastic!
suprisingly more results than I expected...
Yeah, it wears pretty thin after a few times played.
Yeah, it got played over and over because he kept yelling "Son of a bitch" and that is 'roll your eyes' quality ....

My wife has a music minor and played symbols in the Big Red Marching Machine at Illinois State University (I played tuba)... she has some rhythm! She always claps the backbeat! I was taught to play tuba... I have no natural ability, and therefore, no rhythm.

I see this comment often but I've yet to see it quantified. What is too much play time?
By my quick calculation, I estimate that RP plays about 10,200 songs per thirty days. This song has been played THREE times over the last THIRTY days.
Is THREE times over THIRTY days out of 10,200 played songs too much play time?
Depends on the song. In this song's case, once is too much for 30 YEARS.
Their whole career is a cover.
How so?

I this a cover?
I went to wikipedia to find an answer to this. It is not a cover.
Then I saw this:
In late May 2016, "S.O.B." was featured on Lipton's iced tea commercials.
which is fricken hilarious cause reasons.
I this a cover?

Great call

I've heard it multiple times in the same day on one local radio station. Cool station but they do the "heavy rotation" thing which is just annoying.

Well said. It's fun to listen to and I'm sure also fun to play, but doesn't add much to what's already gone before.
Its entertainment , just like any other piece of artwork past and future.
Whether you listen to it, look at it, sit on it, taste it, smell it, touch it, or use it, something has always been done , the future holds no surprises sometimes.
Did Mumford & Sons pop up?
But it's a recreation, and thus not original at all.
The song is a museum-piece and the Nightsweats are curators.

Agreed that this one is getting a little too much airtime for my taste. Liked at first but fading quickly.
I love this song, but drove my mom nutty me sing it. LOL
I can see that.
A couple of my friends with young children say (with remorse) how since this is actually a radio-friendly song....their kids gleefully sing along with the chorus as they're driving in the car or even at home when it's not being played on the radio...and they hope to God they don't start singing it in public.

Yah. You nailed that one Hal.
I thought it sounded a little like BRUCE. Had to check...
Would like to hear some other tracks like I Need Never Get Old...

The narrator should get some help, but the song is a blast!
Maybe not, but he does pretty well on some of his other stuff. And,,,, I am far from a hipster.
