Voodoo Child played on a 'rubber band'. Hmmm, just because you can doesn't mean you should!! This sucks!!!
Sorry young lady, but somethings need to be left alone!!!
An interesting cover which I like but if you listen to her output on YouTube you begin to realise it's all a bit 'samey'. A shame, because on first hearing you're inclined to think you have stumbled across a genuine find.
MORE! MORE! MORE! FROM LUNA, PLEASE AND THANK YOU!
This made Jimmy put down his blunt and smile!!!!
One of the most interesting covers made
You can find her website here.
Really cool version btw - wonder what Jimi would have said.

Are you on drugs? We don't have to trust the MSM since there is video and audio of the actual terrible things coming out of tRumps mouth.  Stop watching Faux News which shelters you from all the terrible things he says and does.
like they say in that movie:

this is some pretty trippy stuff.
Curious and appealing. K-Hendrix :o)

I like the gayageum instrument which brings a quirky dimension to the tune. A woman to look out for. Thanks again to RP for yet another new artist I'd not have heard otherwise. 7 from the Nottingham jury, likely to grow.
I shouldn't like this, as I revere the original so much ... but it's pretty awesome.
incredible. Thank you. A wonderful interpretation of a classic.
Delightful.

Hard to tune are they?
I feel like I can see Jimi sitting on a couch smokin some weed, lightly stoned as he listens to this. Eyes kinda closed, whispering, "That's groovy baby" while thinking of what it would sound like if he electrified a gayageum.
No puedo creer el nivel de ciertos idiotas. Avobe all the one who say the sushi thing. Fo me it is an espectular cover from a multicultural sense of art. That is music.
personally I would´t hear a mariachi version . And certanly for sure I wouldn't  like it either .  Pero esta versión de Luna es sesnacional. Gracias RP
Very talented.
Its nice, but not outstanding.
Strange but fascinating

Wow, first time hearing this!
An easy 8 for originality, and man, it does remind me of Hendrix.

I don't always like covers, there's a few I wish were never made, but I DIG this!
She rocks this Gayageum style, that's for sure.  This actually is a really good cover, and considering how experimental Hendrix was it's right in line with that.
I'm ruined for life: My Seven Bizzos... (2LC /As Nasty As They Wanna Be)
I just do not have the ear for enjoying the gayageum...just doesn't produce a sound that I have pleasant.  It kind of makes me feel unsettled...like a wicked sense of disharmony...

More like grooving to this remake
Knowing how the ultra-patriarchal Korean music business (and society at large) works, I wonder how much this is her own thing and how much she's just a pretty face for a corporate (or at least male) music machine.

Obviously, I'm not saying that a woman can't make music on her own. I'm saying that Korean society, and the Korean music industry, wouldn't allow her to get far without male, corporate backing.

No matter who's behind it, this rocks.

By the way, the Vietnamese version of this instrument is called the dan tranh. During the War years, there was quite a niche of South Vietnamese folks doing American rock covers on the dan tranh.
Jimi is rolling in his grave...
Wow, that was a surprisingly original cover. Really quite cool
great cover!

Luna lee plays R&B and Rock classics on a traditional Korean instrument known as the gayageum, a 12-string zither-like instrument related to the Chinese guzheng, Japanese koto, and Vietnamese đàn tranh. A quiet instrument with a beautiful sound, the gayageum was originally designed to play traditional Korean music in a small room during intimate gatherings. But Luna plays it like a rockstar. She saw amazing potential and possibilities in the gayageum, even though she recognized that its quiet sound was not well-suited to music created for drums, bass, and guitar. So Luna got busy. First she re-developed her gayageum for a sound that better matched modern instruments – increasing the volume and pressure, developing the tone, and increasing the sustain. Then she studied guitar effects and amplifiers, experimenting to see how they fit her instrument. And finally, she started playing contemporary music on it. The results of her efforts are stunning. It is as exciting to watch Luna play her music as it is to hear her play. Her passion for the music is obvious. Whether she is playing a rock classic like “Voodoo Child” or an iconic R&B track like B.B. King’s, “The Thrill is Gone,” Luna’s body language expresses the same mix of tension and ecstasy you see when great guitarists/musicians lose themselves in the music.

Thank you for taking your time and explaining what's behind this marvelous interpretation.
Woah!!  Me likey!
Somewhat reminiscent of Yoshida Brothers, not so much in audio-scapes but in genre bending.  Love it.

Info for Luna looks corrected now to me.............this was outstanding.
I don't want to like this, I hate myself for liking it, but I like it. Maybe it's because the actual song is so good that a cover will have some baseline level of awesome, or that it is truly a different take on the music (if not a reinterpretation, an exploration with a way different instrument), but, ugh, I like it.
Imagine what she could do with a Stratocaster.
No, sorry.
Thought I was going to like this after the first few bars, but then it just became a novelty that added absolutely nothing to the original. Oh well.
Weird and wonderful.

Electric Ladyland:
Side 1, track 4: Voodoo Chile
Side 4, track 4: Voodoo Child (Slight Return) or  (Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) on UK edition)

Isn't it a wrong spelling of the name of the song?

Jimi Hendrix occasionally used different names and spellings for some of his songs. In his handwritten lyrics, he used "Voodoo Chile" for the longer song, while he used both "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" for the following one recorded with the Experience. In his handwritten album notes for Electric Ladyland sent to his record company, he listed the songs as "Voodoo Chile" and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)"; when the album was released in the US by Reprise Records on October 16, 1968, these spellings for the two songs were used. When the album was subsequently released by Track Records in the UK, the songs were listed as "Voodoo Chile" and "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)". In 1970, the "(Slight Return)" song was released as a single in the UK and it was simply titled "Voodoo Chile", without the further designation. Later album reissues usually follow the Reprise or Track album spellings, depending on the country of origin.

It's not only wrong information about the artist, it's also a wrong spelling of the song title. Voodoo Chile is the correct title.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luna_(singer)

"Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" was developed from "Voodoo Chile", recorded May 2, 1968, during a studio jam with Steve Winwood on organ and Jack Casady on bass. The next day, Hendrix returned to the studio with Redding and Mitchell for the filming of a short documentary by ABC television. Noel Redding explained, "We learned that song in the studio ... They had the cameras rolling on us as we played it". Hendrix added,

Someone was filming when we started doing [Voodoo Child]. We did that about three times because they wanted to film us in the studio, to make us—'Make it look like you're recording, boys'—one of them scenes, you know, so, 'OK, let's play this in E, a-one, a-two, a-three', and then we went into 'Voodoo Child'.

According to Hendrix biographer Steven Roby, eight takes of the song were recorded by Hendrix, Redding, and Mitchell, and the final one was chosen as the master, which appeared on Electric Ladyland.

"Chile" is a phonetic approximation of "child" without the "d". In the UK, "Voodoo Chile" was also used as the title of the 1970 single release of "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)", that has caused confusion regarding the two songs.

It's not only wrong information about the artist, it's also a wrong spelling of the song title. Voodoo Chile is the correct title.

Wow, that was cool. I'll bet the inventor of the Gayageum never imagined anything like this! I'm try to visualize a court in ancient Korea and the local ranking official asking for some music and then somebody cranking this out. Ha!

She's awesome.

Korean musician Luna Lee is an incredibly talented performer who skillfully covers such rock songs as “Space Oddity“, “Love Me Tender“, “Back in Black“, “Stairway to Heaven“, “Layla” and a great many more on a modified Gayageum, a traditional multi-stringed instrument with deep historical roots.

Bill, I commend you for playing Luna. I have been living in Korea for a long time so I hope you don't mind if I correct your pronunciation of Luna's instrument. It's guy-YAG-gum. If that's makes any sense. Totally traditional instrument. Probably a precursor to the guitar.
She does other popular rock songs, too

Again, interesting....but listen to David Torn get down with his bad self on his version of the song from Door X. His vox are a little sketch, but his playing truly channels the spirit if not the style of the master.
