A month or so ago, I went over to my buddy Sean's place and found him staring at a YouTube video of a gal fooling around on a guitar. He had picked up his own guitar and had latched on to the groove. He said, "Hey, man, check this out!" I was like, "Wait -- I think I know that song! It's "Sugar for the Pill," by Slowdive...a Neil Halstead project..." He said, "Whoah. Slowdive? Neil who?" and the rabbit-hole opened..., A lot of weed was smoked, many beers were drunk, and Sean played guitar while I found the notes on his Yamaha keyboard as we explored and mapped the spacey sonic terrain. I then stumbled onto and recognized a similar progression I adore in "Wild Nothing" by Shadow, and that song blew Sean's mind, as well. and we grooved on that bliss a bit. We eventually came up with the start of an epic original I might have to call "Quantum Entangulation."  I dearly love how RP helps stimulate and enlighten me and my friends! Thanks!
This never, ever gets old...thanks Bill..
This goes well with my anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds.

This is so good I can't help staring at my shoes? I guess just a little Shoegazing.

Might I suggest you don't listen to it while driving...
This entire album is fantastic.
I feel like some tracks from the Disco Elysium soundtrack are a direct homage to Slowdive, and this album in particular.
Wish I could give this an 11
Lovely song.  Reminds me of China Crisis a bit, has the same comforting vibe.
I have appreciated all of slowdive's incarnations...

The more I hear this, the more I like it!!  Thanx RP!
I really like the tranquility of this song.   It kind of has a Durutti Column vibe
Good tune! I never heard of them before. Thanx RP!
10 from me.
A great song, from an amazing album, by an outstanding band.
Reclining into a state of aural paradise with this track😊
I'm unabashedly loving this song.   Maybe because I'm part weasel

A furry creature sits down in a restaurant.
"What kind of varmint are you?" asks the waitress.
"I'm a weasel," he replies.
"Well, what would like to order, Mr. Weasel?"
(wait for it). . . .
"Pop!" goes the weasel.

I could listen to this 20 times in a row...really loud!! Especially just for the breakdown alone😀

Ditto, just upped from an 8 to a 9...something about the rhythmic  flow just does it for me!
It's a 10 from me.
I would like this better if I could hear the vocals.
Drifting into paradise with this song,nice 10😊
"Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down."  - Julie Andrews, 1964
I'm staring at my shoes... they look good enough.
Love the Shoegaze!
 Everywhere where nothing is written, read that you're loved.
i rate this song with an 8

Direct 9 for me, too.
This is a great song, it's part of one of my Radio Paradise playlists. I've made several comprising of the most favorite songs RP has played over the years I've been listening. I work from home so having good background music is important.

Bill must really like this band if he said the name of it on-air. I guess it's good he did, 'else I'd have thought it was Neil Halstead but with a better band.

Well, it *is* Halstead with another band. Or rather his first one. They were amazing in concert.
oh no not Beck.  I survived Cohen and Nilsson, but this is getting close to disaster. Brilliant music, but...
So much better than Coldplay :)
My Favourite tune when driving far through the night.
My rating will stay at 7  but I do not Skip (yet)
Hard to articulate just how much I enjoy this piece. Posting as much will just have to suffice. Thank you, Bill and Rebecca!
awesome tune!! Thanks again RP!

I was thinking early OMD....
Yep Bill, that did work!  {#Clap}
@ Bluedot2018 in Manchester.... Get there if you can.... Good line up.... Cannot wait to enjoy myself there :)

Maybe a little Moody Blues as well?
Best cut from that new album
Romantic, dreamy, visual, flowing. A new candidate for ear worm.  And good drinking music. I believe I will pour meself a Scotch from a Xmas bottle on a snowy day.
I am obsessed with this tune!! Whole record is very good also.

Bit Stone Rosesy bass start off.  Initially sounds neat but some more listens would be great to tell the differences from Catherine Wheel.

Catherine Wheel = awesome
Slowdive = awesome

-> No problem there... :-)

The whole album is near perfect. 9.
You can hear Neil Halstead talking about how the song came about and was constructed here: https://songexploder.net/slowdive
Nice and dreamy.  I thought this group had disbanded - apparently they're back together.  Neil Halstead is a pretty talented guy.

Sugar for the pill - is this a birth control pill reference?

The tune is pretty chill, I like it, a 7 for now.  Thankfully, lyrics aren't my #1 priority when listening to music, otherwise this would be a 4 at best!
