Yes, it is quite groovy, but I don't think there are 7 lions playing on this - no more than 4 or 5 lions at most.
I wish this was by Emancipator; I'd have a lot more respect for his body of work.
Uhh..
*edit - 3 months later up to an 8.
This is similar to the "look and feel" (sound wise) of Emancipator's work. But Emancipator's look and feel is very narrow -- there is not much variation in his body of work. If this were an Emancipator creation it would show him to have more range than he does.

One of the most perfect audio tunes I've ever heard. Genuinely amazing.
Yes. It works on so many levels.
I just posted exactly the same comment...three weeks later. Then I saw your post, so I deleted mine :)
And that album cover is amazing. It makes me want to see the movie.
"What? You say there is no movie?!?"
Perhaps that lack is only a temporary oversight; which the Universe will soon remedy.
"Hey, it could happen!"
I had to elevate myself to 10 for this today.
I used to "dial in" CBC (AM) radio on my airplane's ADF on early Sunday morning flights. I did this because they would play classical music before 6AM. These 'decompression' flights (as I called them) were over the mountain and valley forests north of Vancouver, BC. The included swooping down steep valleys and circling (in a steep gentle turn) over the forests... looking straight down in to the trees... bliss!
If this song was the soundtrack for the flights... wow.
is god a lion?
Nothing could improve moby
IDK? Moby is hit or miss for me! He has some great tunes, but, also some clunkers. Everybody has their own tastes.
Nothing could improve moby
Because he's already THE MOST AWESOME
As boring as Moby's pretentious soup. Hardly more elaborate.
mmmmmm...... pretentious soup........
It has a quality Moby would like I think.
Nothing could improve moby

lease keep it up!
The Arrival - Cloud Cult, Leaving Earth - Seven Lions; what's next? '39 - Queen?
it seems history repeats itself
Welcome back, Tonto's Expanding Head band!
I remember them! Actually I quite liked them.🐨

How about 5 angry Siamese cats?

Good to know! Thanks lizardking.
Wiki says you're WAY off, westslope...sorry....
"The name Seven Lions comes from a fantasy book called Latro in the Mist by Gene Wolfe, who he names as his favorite author. Seven Lions is a character in the book."
Although after reading about that book, which appears to be in the style of or based on, Greek Mythology, maybe the ornate architecture idea isn't too far off....Long Live RP!!

Gene Wolfe has written some amazing stuff. The Book of the New Sun is a gem, lost in the face of all of the self published garbage science fiction and fantasy out there on Amazon.

EDIT: Apparently that guess was wrong. See
Couple of other good tracks on the album, but this is the stand-out for sure. Love it.
There's 2 on tabourine (not very talented but they look good).
Lion groupies.

This is really pretty.
Kind of tear-inducing with its beauty when one is grieving the passing of one's mom, though.
I can see that. 8
Condolences.

Too bad about Montecito. The fire, now the slide. So many dead.
I looked at a google earth map of Montecito and noted that the municipality had spread right up the mountain sides. That was an ecologically risky thing to do and now people are dead.
Trust me westslope, I often imagine I'm back there, usually during our cool/wet/grey/depressing winters in Seattle. And a lot of the new money in Montecito (vs the old money the SB area is known for, you know, the super wealthy people NOBODY knows) probably meant moving up the hills. I lived in a house near Montecito, on a curvy street in the SB area called the "Riviera" where the higher up you go the nicer the houses are, and after the Northridge earthquake I quickly thought "please don't have a mansion land on us!"
Ironic that the song we're commenting on is called: Leaving Earth.
PEACE

Probably hangs out and drinks herbal tea with the Goldsmiths. I strongly suspect some kind of insidious conflict of interest driving the 11 plays in the last month. ;-)
No matter, I thoroughly enjoy this song every time it is played.
Funny, and while I normally consider SB to be paradise, it is about 750 Km from Santa Barbara to Paradise.
And unfortunate as it is, SB has been in the news a lot lately with fires and now mud slides. A little bit of paradise lost As I get updates from family and see images on the news, I can't help but think "what? NO! those are the roads I learned how to drive on!"
Please explain.
I think I get what Colorado John means by ".... it leaves me wanting it to flash an edge..."
I felt it too. Its like this really nice groove smoothly glides along and I'm more than happy to glide with it, as it's not too syrupy or slow. But when it ends... it feels a bit like that, just under the surface, waiting to knife upwards through the whole song, is a sharp but still silky smooth edgy little "something". Keys or guitar or maybe something else completely. Nothing jarring or fast, just... just a knife edge like a shark fin through calm water just for a moment. Porcupine Tree achieves this with grace and skill sometimes and is probably my favorite thing about that band.
OK. As in.... introduce some edgier tones as a contrast to the rest of the piece.
Yes, Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson do that very well. With good sound equipment, you can distinguish each individual note in PT/SW's edgier moments.
And here I thought this was some unfamiliar drug culture jargon .... which if you pay attention to Colorado John's post is not entirely off base.
Thanks bluematrix for the explanation.

Was awesome sounding indeed.
Well, Jeff Montalvo likes Opeth and Storm Corrosion, a one-time collaboration between Opeth's frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt and Steven Wilson, formerly of Porcupine Tree.
I like Storm Corrosion and some of Opeth's material. I see the connection and Jeff's interest in this kind of Prog metal. Though I would not have reached for metal to describe the Storm Corrosion album. Some of Opeth's material is not in the death metal vein that might have popularized the band.
P.S. Got to know Storm Corrosion. Like some King Crimson except the song writing is better. Love it. Play it almost as often as Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson, Opeth, Camel.

Leaving Earth? Well, leaving work at least... almost quitting time on a Friday here!!
Ooh, play "So Long, and Thanks For All The Fish"

Ooh, play "So Long, and Thanks For All The Fish"
At the very least "Journey of the Sorcerer" would quite apropos.
I am liking this a lot. What is the rest of the CD like?
Reminds me of All India Radio
Surely you know about the hyperspace bypass?
Ooh, play "So Long, and Thanks For All The Fish"
played right after PT, Last Chance To Evacuate Planet Earth Before It Is Recycled?
Is there something I need to know.?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
