I waited all my life to come
Running through the field when I see you
In the end, when you're young, you follow
Shadows even though they fade
Baby, you're...
In the end, there was a red light shining
Shining all your love to come
Sometimes I lay in the darkness
Just to see if I can hear the spark
But I never went away, babe
Show me how you do it
I've been looking all night
Go away and back
Show me that you want it
I'm alone in life
All this reading in no light
Once I was alone in a lonesome time
You were livin' in my place
When I took the train up to see you
Everything that I couldn't change
But I never went away, babe
Show me how you do it
I've been looking all night
Go away and back
Show me that you notice
In a long time
All this living in no life
I don't want to live to make you
Show me how you do it
I've been looking all night
I went away and back
Show me that you noticed
In a long time
I ain't giving in
I know my way around it
I've been doing all right
I don't need it back
Running through the field when I see you
In the end, when you're young, you follow
Shadows even though they fade
Baby, you're...
In the end, there was a red light shining
Shining all your love to come
Sometimes I lay in the darkness
Just to see if I can hear the spark
But I never went away, babe

They played at Newport Folk Festival last week . Awesome set glad to see them live
Been to two of these these guys’ gigs in the past year and a bit. Most recent ‘Trinity Summer Series’ in Dublin (Ireland) last week.
Mighty performances! So enjoyed.
Great set at Glastonbury this year too.
I don't know much about the artist's struggles but I do know he's seen some shit.
Such a great sounding band...
I will give this track time... It just doesn't seem quite up to the high esteem that I held for them from their previous album.

Indeed, for a heart stopping moment at the beginning it did sound like him. Thought Bill had either lost his mind or was playing a little joke on his loyal listeners.
OMG, I almost pressed PSD thinking this was Brian Adams...

I owe ya five bucks.
I did mention before that I got tickets...?
Perhaps my least favorite song on this album, still it works much better in the context of the album than as a single entity. The album is pretty sensational, and growing on me with more listens (isn't that the way it's supposed to be?). Takes a while for the wall of sound to fully develop and envelop.
Perhaps because this song follows Jackson Browne, but it sounds as dated and boring to me as nearly any Jackson Browne song.

I am likewise underwhelmed.
It's a good enough tune - nice production, but it seems somewhat "generic" and less engaging than their other stuff. To me, it vaguely sounds like a cross between Bryan Adams and Bruce Hornsby (and not in a good way).

I wish I didn't understand this song so much. The fact that there was ink involved gives this a 10.
