This song makes me think of the Heaven's Gate cult. I find it hard to get past that. Those crazies thought they were going to be rescued be a spaceship as well.

Like others have posted (including me 5 years ago!) my rating on this one changes a lot. To hell with it though, I'm going to +1 again, back up to 8, so this will play in 'My Favorites' - and then I can play "Name that tune" with friends/family and give out super bonus points if they come up with "Kesha"

I also LOVE this 'space ship' influenced play list this kicks off (Spaceship, then Space Oddity, then Space Child) - great work as always, William and crew!

Thanks for playing this again, it's been a while. A friend of mine passed away and I consider this her theme song. She was a space travel advocate who fully intended to retire on the moon. She had a very interesting life.

I was floored when I saw this was Kesha, who I had always written off. I definitely gave a lot of her other stuff a listen, but agree with you. This song, however, is a wonderful 9 for me. The hopefulness and optimism is a soothing balm whenever this comes on.

In a thousand years they'll still be playing this on AM radio (maybe still bleeping the word "damn"), and the kids will get it.

It's a children's song, to warn the kids about us adults, telling them to get out there, into outer space, to save themselves; lots of room out there, in outer space.

I wish there was a filter to take out the in-breath. Ditto the following 'The Bee Good Tanyas' and Muse would similarly benefit! High treble mixes and breathy singers seem alas to be all the rage. The rest might not be my normal cup of tea, by hey, expanding one's horizons is the point of listening to RP

Well, that's why I am a fan of RP! I get to explore things I might not hear otherwise. Do I like it all? Hell no. Some of the afternoon jaunts into (Whatever that stuff is) can sometimes lead to a PSD, or two. Or three. I get to four sometimes and have to sign off for something else. I happens. But to me, that's the point here, there's something for everyone's tastes I reckon.

As far as this goes, Well I didn't PSD. In fact, IMO, its not bad. I liked it a lot better than many other songs I hear here. Unexpected? Well yeah! I was surprised it was this artist, and surprised by its style, and surprised to hear banjo and mando, and...... Surprised.

I would listen to it again. Would I hunt it down and buy it? Probably not.

But thank you for turning me on to it Bill! That's why I listen to RP.

Now that she is no longer just a cog in the pop machine (and no longer Ke$ha) we may actually be surprised by what she is capable of. Judging by her Grammy performance, there is definitely some talent there. Thanks for giving her some airtime, I wouldn't have heard this one otherwise!

The first 3 average rating I have ever seen in more than 10 years of listening to RP! But I have to support Bill on this one and increase that rating with a 6! I have heard of Kesha, and know she is big in certain circles, but this is the first song of hers I have ever heard. As Bill just said, this falls into the category of "something you don't expect to hear on Radio Paradise". But I find it in general a cheerful little ditty.

This is why I come to RP. This song represents "variety". It is well done. It is bouncy. It almost has a bluegrass feel. It enlarges my borders. Not a bad thing. I first found RP as a result of a search for "eclectic internet music" (or something along those lines - it was so long ago). Same as it ever was.
