Oddly, I appreciate listening to this today, more than when I was living through its hey-day in the 80s.   I'm  taking a moment to reflect on  how the BBC banned their debut hit, how they turn cold war lyrics into an iconic 80s dancehall hook... 

It's one of those tunes that I'd rate high in review, but low for re-listen.
I'm glad to be reminded of it today, but it would never end up on a personal playlist.

This song resonated perfectly during the Cold War years. It was like a little bombshell, so succinct and angry, and sexy in its way. And you could dance to it. And with Pleasure Dome Frankie brought out gay culture in a way that not even Freddie of Queen ever did (did you know he was gay?). Hope no one's offended, but they sold a lot of records. Someone liked them, and it still sounds good.
