Let the television burn babe
There's a riot in the street
They said the wolf was at the front door
He was lyin' at their feet
We felt a change, a change
But ain't it a shame
How it all turned out
It was a long time coming
It's a little late now
They're gonna stack up the dead
Til they block out the sun
These white boys with money make the whole world run
Let the wall hit your back
The blood hit your tongue
You and me baby we're the dangerous ones
You and me baby we're the dangerous ones
Hey there's a word for last winter
It's something worse than discontent
37 years old and staying out of trouble
Ain't to make my rent
So let it burn, let it burn, let the motherfucker burn
It's Election Day
They shut the water off last week
I guess it's gonna burn either way
They're shipping bodies back down with the cocaine and guns
These white boys with money make the whole world run
Let the wall hit your back
The blood hit your tongue
Cause you and me brother we're the dangerous ones
You and me brother we're the dangerous ones
You can curse
You can cry
You can scream yourself to sleep every night
You can open up your eyes
Take a look outside
Where every wall is gonna crumble
Every tower's gonna fall
Theatres gonna rumble
And siren's gonna call
So you better look alive alive
Read the black not the white
Forget the reds and blues
We're looking for a way out
Start looking for a way through
Well a shot's been fired but the war ain't won
These white boys with money better learn how to run
Let the wall hit your back
The blood hit your tongue
You and me baby we're the dangerous ones

So if I'm white and have money I need to learn how to run? Wow, thanks, party of peace, love & diversity.
That's not how things work in my America.

This song is so timely now (especially in the USA). I for one am delighted that RP has it in (relatively) heavy rotation.

6 times! I was wondering why I was hearing this again.. Ugh.. I mean I like the song enough, but.. this is a bit much. Some how it always seems to play when I'm listening.

Just to be clear, I mean this with sincerity and not so much snark! 6 Times in a month is NOT too much! Especially for an intelligent, timely (although written a couple of years ago) excellent song and voice. Followed by The Byrds! How many times have you heard that song and still love it? Relax. These folks are excellent programmers and really your comment just proves that! Peace out.

I thought this was Steve Earle*, but it's great to see a new-ish artist carrying the torch. Intense work, and timely.

That was lame.

Yes! I watched the video a couple of days ago and I actually cried (and I'm not normally a crier). The video made perfect us of the song.
There's a powerful video making the rounds right now. This song with revised lyrics features in it, changing one of the last lines to "those white boys with money better learn how to run". This song, revised like that, feels like first protest song of 2020.

Nice set of lyrics:
"Let the wall hit your back
The blood hit your tongue
You and me baby we're the dangerous ones"
The changes to the lyrics you hear on the live recording vs those shown add something too.
...and apparently he is speaking the truth, given the indictments and his plea.
Thanks Bill and Rebecca!

This song/artist is suddenly a big deal, since "Ugly Bobbie" Lefsetz wrote him up. Sounds exactly like Steve Earle. In other words, little if anything original to crow about. But then, this artist isn't really known for (legal) originality.
First comment. New artist to me.
Heard an attempt to edit out MF. Didn't quite work.
Going with a 6 rating to start.

That's not how things work in my America.
And which party is that? I'm reading the lyrics and not finding any mention of a political party. Rather, I'm hearing a man sing about 'how things work in my America.'
Political undercurrents, yes. A song from a political party, to you, and deserving sarcastic thanks, quite a stretch.
I've yet to see a Kasey Anderson 2020 bumper sticker.
