We're gonna walk together arm in arm
with peace in our hearts. (repeat)

Gonna walk together arm in arm
so our sisters and brothers won't come to any harm.
We know we got peace in our hearts.

Gonna walk with every color and tribe
with peace in our hearts. (repeat)

Gonna walk with every color and tribe
cause we’re stronger together
when we’re on the same side.

We know we got peace in our hearts.

We're gonna stand for the earth and the children too
with peace in our hearts. (repeat)

Gonna stand for the earth and the children too
‘cause it will take everyone
to make this dream come true.
We know we got peace in our hearts.

We’re gonna stare into the face of the hateful mind
with peace in our hearts. (repeat)

We’re gonna stare into the face of the hateful mind.
All we gotta do is let our love light shine.
We know we got peace in our hearts.

We're gonna walk together arm in arm
with peace in our hearts. (repeat)

Gonna walk together arm in arm
so our sisters and brothers
won't come to any harm.
We know we got peace in our hearts.

Peace in one's heart doesn't mean to be easily fooled or to be reluctant to defend oneself. Peace in your heart means you know that you're right, and what's right.

I get what you’re saying but there’s a problem I’ve observed which is that, with a few malicious exceptions, everyone believes they know they’re right, and what’s right, even them that’s wrong, which, if you think about it, is all of us, at least about something, or some things, or parts of some things. Ain’t nobody all right all of the time, and those that think they are pose potentially the greatest threat. So that’d be a false sense of peace in my opinion.

There’s no solution to that as far as I know, but being aware of that, and keeping an open mind, at least maintains the possibility of discovery of more or greater truth.

Peace

I don't see the word fighting in her song
We've got bees in our hearts.

trump endorses taking disinfectant for COVID...
Tonight's setlist definitely has the Bill G imprint -- stellar selection and impeccable segues, subtle themes embedded, emerging gradually, quietly, subconsciously but very consciously orchestrated by the Master of the Segue. Thank you RP. Please don't tell me AI can ever supplant BG.

I disagree with the first sentence. There are definitely people who are callous and employ violence whenever it seems likely to suit their ends, routine or otherwise.

The rest is spot on, though.
Lyrics: pretty good old-fashioned folk
Musical execution: average non-professional sit-in-a-circle and sing along
Voice: phoned it in
My rating: 1 This grates on my ears so much!

They cry "Peas, Peas" while they cut green beans, cream corn, & then toss a salad!
Thanks RP.

Everyone doesn't have to agree. If he's angry, let him express it. Free world brother.
Who is playing that great guitar?

"If you wish to have peace, prepare for war."

Reflect on why this is so for every living thing.
Saw her opening for Richard Thompson at the Fillmore in San Francisco pre-pandemic. Fantastic entertainer and wonderful music.
I want to thank my friend Cynthia for taking me to an Eliza Gilkyson show in Sacramento 31 years ago. Altazor opened. Wonderful show. Thank you, Cynthia. Glad to see RP playing Eliza's stuff.

This was an anti-war slogan I heard in high school in 1971 or so. Still true today. And EG did not use that phrase.

Well said Fred
When you can't think of any lyrics, just keep repeating the same line over and over and over ....

Might be useful to remember that Gandhi considered himself a "fighter" and worked to create "non-violent weapons." Determination to not allow evil to spread is critical. A violent response to that evil will certainly have some significant problems, however.
you see...the song title itself makes for a happy day
nice peace piece

thanks, Sis
Lyrics good. Execution awful.

Maybe when we feel the need to over rule another’s perspective with our own, we might first put ourselves in the other’s shoes.. search our experience for and try to offer up some common ground to start? Having said that, Trump was and is a man of triggering extremes, particularly when it comes to truth and his lack thereof. Challenging times. Luckily, we have music to help allay our anxieties along the way.

That was my creed, but no longer.  I cannot stand by while people support this disgusting orange pig's asshole; this includes four of my brothers.  I will not stand idly by while this orange piece of shit and his idiot rubes destroy my country.  No more peaceful hippy; you want a fight, you got it!

It's not at all overwhelmingly clear to me that the OP was actually advocating real violence rather than (perhaps) more active resistance? Certainly triggered an interestingly harsh response.
11 plays in the last month. It's a good tune for our times. Keep spreading the word, Bill.

And this is actually your name and you really want to be associated with this dreadful era in American history? I feel something like pity. How many associates of Obama were convicted  on child pornography charges? Give me a number!
Eliza and her enormously talented kid brother Tony would make a killer duo, kind of like The White Stripes reimagined. All they would need is a rhythm section ...
Please everyone, give peas a chance, and visualise whirled peas.
It's a tricky problem, being a pacifist in a world of swirling hatred (see various comments below). I'm reminded of 'Fight Test' by The Flaming Lips, though accept that their lyrics referred to matters a little less existential than those discussed here. Maybe we just have to hope that the march of education will solve the world's problems one by one and that these setbacks will vanish in time.
Peace in one's heart doesn't mean to be easily fooled or to be reluctant to defend oneself. Peace in your heart means you know that you're right, and what's right.

Great to hear from the new one from wonderful Eliza Gilkyson. Thank you, Bill and Rebecca! Great choice.
Honors the worthy sentiments in this song by refraining from partisan bickering in this comment section.

Thank you and good day.
Based on how things are going in this country, I'm assuming this song is ironic?

I call BS. No peaceful hippy goes rabid moron that easily.

There was never any peace in your heart. Ask your brothers.

Love in my heart for Eliza.

Impressively deep family musical roots. Brother Tony gets major props for his work with Lone Justice and X.
Great message, but music doesn't hold up for me, unfortunately.
wild anyway silence screamer

Wow! Sentiments for all Sentients. May all beings be able to take this to heart.
I think it's written for all of us.
