See these eyes so green
I can stare for a thousand years
Colder than the moon
It's been so long
And I've been putting out fire
With gasoline

Feel my blood enraged
It's just the fear of losing you
Don't you know my name
Well, you been so long

See these eyes so red
Red like jungle burning bright
Those who feel me near
Pull the blinds and change their minds
It's been so long

Still this pulsing night
A plague I call a heartbeat
Just be still with me
Ya wouldn't believe what I've been through
You've been so long
Well it's been so long
And I've been putting out fire
With gasoline
Putting out fire
With gasoline

See these tears so blue
An ageless heart
That can never mend
These tears can never dry
A judgement made
Can never bend
See these eyes so green
I can stare for a thousand years
Just be still with me
You wouldn't believe what I've been through

You've been so long
Well, it's been so long
And I've been putting out fire
With gasoline
Putting out fire with gasoline

Stevie totally makes it into a masterpiece.  Some of his best playing to my tired ears.
Natasha Kinsky....
What amazing energy in this song
I kinda think they should have named this track "Putting Out Fire With Gasoline".  Cat People isn't even in the lyrics.
original version much much better!
Like the original version this is pretty good

Yes, crush of of my youth. :-))
Good but in my opinion not a scratch on the moroder version
Nastassja Kinski!
An excellent re-version. Honestly not sure I’ve heard it before now, which is surprising me. Thanks Bill!
Purhased the album on vynil when released, treasured and still have it! Great to hear it on RP!
Sorry Giorgio, but he was right to re-record this.
I don't think I've heard this song in 38 years.  When I heard that riff I was immediately transported back to listening to this song on FM radio when it came out.
Quite possibly his best….. I had the 45RPM pressed on a full sized 33 disc. The dynamics were amazing.
For me…. One of Mr. Bowie’s best.
Good ol' SRV
