The first time I hard this I thought "WTF", this is gonna be gross, but then I was really enjoying the banjo, then I was thinkin "Hey, this is actually OK", and by the end I was really enjoying it. I was Not "Dancin' like a bow-legged Muleskinner in my Hotel Room'", but my toes were tappin pretty good.
Sometimes, as we all know the covers of great songs are great on their own:

Everyone-Hallelujeah (Jeff Buckley #1)
Jose Feliciano-Light My Fire
Johnny Cash - Hurt
Van Halen- Ice Cream Man

Eva Cassidy - Fields of Gold
(My Fave) Shawn Colvin - One Cool Remove (A Greg Brown song)

I don't think this Cure cover is an all-time great, but I enjoy it as much as the original.

As other comments say, this version does demonstrate that a great song is always a great song, but for me it is too throwaway and loses the passion of the original.

I hear this and I'm reminded of a comment on here about the Ben L'Oncle Soul cover of Seven Nation Army. It said (paraphrasing), if you were never aware this was a cover, you could make the mistake of thinking this was the original.
