One plus point for the second half (it's worth sticking around until the end). -> 3
I'm a long-time RP listener, and like a few listeners have commented on this thread & on one or two others I've seen this week, I'm also noting an uptick of rap here - and I'm glad for it (and pleasantly surprised).
Don't get me wrong, rap did not resonate with me in my formative years, so this isn't nostalgia for me (plus the songs I've been hearing are all very, very new); rather, I feel like those RP's been cultivating for us have insight, depth, meaning & musical/artistic merit like so many others we listen to regularly here.
Why wouldn't they warrant a turn at the mic on our stage?
Gen X total energy reply: I KNOW, RIGHT?
I don't mind some rap. It has to be something that surprises me and gets me to listen. This does.
Edit: not the song I know but here it is.
Open your minds people. It's pretty good. Seems like some people hear rap and automatically dismiss it without hearing it.
I tried. I really tried. But I don’t like it and I’m not ashamed to say it.
I know it's important as well as difficult to keep evolving musical offerings as to keep relevant and draw in new listeners.
But there has to be better offerings than what your are playing.
8 from me. Might bump it up on next listen.
BILL IS PLAYING THIS BECAUSE HE'S WHAT WE ALL MISS. A DJ that actually experiments and expands. If you don't like this, there are thousands of mainstream radio stations for you to choose from.
I am a listener of Radio Paradise since 2002, and I always loved the "eclecticity" of the music selection. But I have "music boundaries" that were always respected in the selection.
Of course, these are MY boundaries, but I have the feeling that certain genres as reguetón or rap didn't suit the spirit of Radio Paradise... till now.
C'mon Bill stop with the rap.
For better or for worse, rap/hip hop is the most widely listened-to form of contemporary popular music and has been for many years. RP's foundational ethos is eclecticism and diversity and it would be remiss in its mission if its big tent did not include at least a sampling of the sort of music most younger people around the world are listening to. That's not to say RP must play the most recent rap hits or showcase the current stars of the genre as listeners can hear that anywhere. I have to believe that there are corners of the rap universe that would appeal to RP listeners with open minds and open ears (this particular track being a case in point). I'm no fan of rap but I echo a previous poster: more please!
I'm all for a mix of music on the Main Mix.

Rap is taking over RP? Don't hear the N word so it feels inauthentic.
What a lazy take.
