She'll lay belief on you
Skin sweet with musky oil
The lady from another grinning soul
Cologne she'll wear. Silver and Americard
She'll drive a beetle car
And beat you down at cool Canasta
And when the clothes are strewn
don't be afraid of the room
Touch the fullness of her breast.
Feel the love of her caress
She will be your living end
She'll come, she'll go.
She'll lay belief on you
But she won't stake her life on you
How can life become
her point of view
And when the clothes are strewn
don't be afraid of the room
Touch the fullness of her breast.
Feel the love of her caress
She will be your living end (repeat)
RP still rocking our house down under for all these years
Fun story
I once ordered The Working Man's Dead vinyl off of Amazon. Since most employees there work in impossible conditions, I got this record instead which I never heard. I put it on the turntable just as my then flat-mate Liza came home and (bless her) she was so impressed by the whole experience she bought me David Bowie socks for my birthday!
Been a Bowie fan since. The universe can be a funny place.
Support small shops and the labels, not the mega-corpos. And support RP. PEACE my sisters and brothers.
This song's just all over the dang place. Not your best, Mr. Bowie.
One of his very best, actually.
A little research and the 'house' piano at Trident Studios is/was a Bechstein!
Nice piano.
Had a kind of Liberace vibe there - intentional, perhaps?

Sane" Excellent, thanks again RP for the unique mix !!
This was the album that made me realise he was more than just a glam rock pop star.
Hands down the best James Bond movie theme song evar.
Yes, I know, but still - wouldn't it be?
Can't you just hear Shirley Bassey singing it?

Agreed
Not so much the dancing on top.
I agree, at least with the first word of this comment ;-)
Can't say enough about Mike Garson's contribution to Bowie's sound over the years. Title track to this album is another great example.
I love how it spun out the final grooves on side 2 of Aladdin Sane, fading into the future
The perfect rock star back with the perfect rock guitarist.
...waiting for Garson to join them. (Not too soon, I hope).
Oh, memories....
Haha haha haha.
Luckily God is imaginary.
This song is excellent.
Awful damn good!
Great choice, Bill.
RIP Ziggy.
Amen
car and home player all loaded with Bowie
As a singer, he makes a great shampoo model.
I must confess I haven't heard this album, but I'm gonna go way out on a limb and suggest it's no Sgt. Peppers.
UP YOIR NOZE WIT A WUBBER HOZE!!
Yep, I was also thinking that this would make a great Bond theme. Great minds think alike :o)
Great album
Was there a poor album from the seventies ?
Not from Bowie
With DB's passing, I decided to delete the goofy Travolta post.
And as far as Bowie albums, I don't think there was a bad one in the 70s.
Great album

There were a great many "poor" albums in the 1970s; selective memory has helped a lot of people forget about them. However, I agree that this is a great album.

So...how was the "Bowie Is" show in Chi.?
He was a genius who understood what a good song sounded like but he also had the good sense to go into the studio with other highly creative musicians who could contribute their own ideas.
Oh, you're the guy who saw that movie?
—-HA! NICELY DONE!!
Hey, I really wanted to see Michael Shannon's take on Kim Fowley, as I'm fascinated by his work on Boardwalk Empire, and pretty much everything else he's in.
That movie had potential, but it just didn't work. But at least Tatum O'Neal got a paycheck coming out of rehab, which is nice...
And I don't...It's his most overrated song, and pretty much ruined that Runaways movie for me a few years back.

"The Great" Mike Garson (his work on the title track alone is worth the price of admission).
Love this song/album.
Agreed. Best selection of music at any given day or time.
Oui en effet! Godlike, imo (grand portrait d')
Can we agree the 70's were a desert in many ways, but in music - the cup runneth waaaay over. Amen.
Yeah and I feel pretty lucky to have grown-up in them. Such a diverse period. But really it is even more diverse now. It only seems limited if one only listens to mainstream radio. Luckily we all know about RP
No wait, sorry .....that was another song.
Absolutely.
Indeed! On a grey wet morning in the UK this lifts the spirits. Timeless
That's how I remember Rick Wakeman. Showy, bold, brash.
Except the piano genius on this is Mike Garson

Well said...RP puttin' it together like NO other. Ahh, my ears are happy.
Is this for real?
Mine too. And I still LOVE this song. Just melts me everytime.
and again!
Yes, frickin cool transition, isn't it?
Reminds me of a woman who claimed to have slept with Bowie twice and justified it with the statement "well, my husband practically forced me into his (Bowie's) arms".
Felt like saying "And your now ex-husband did that twice, did he?"
Remember the barking "Jingle Bells" dogs? Can't resist the image of "Barking Vivaldi Dogs."
same to me here at this early afternoon CET. The story went similar, but I fell in love with both, David, and Beate. She was engaged already, so what remained to me was rowing the other love besides the 200 other loves in at that time in my record room.
