Traveling north, traveling north to find you
Train wheels beating, the wind in my eyes
Don't even know what I'll find when I get to you
Call out your name love don't be surprised
It's so many miles and so long since I've left you
Don't even know what I'll find when I get to you
But suddenly now, I know where I belong
It's many hundred miles and it won't be long
Nothing at all in my head to say to you
Only the beat of the train I'm on
Nothing I've learn, all my life, on the way to you
One day our love was over and gone
It's so many miles and so long since I've met you
Don't even know what I'll say when I get to you
But suddenly now, I know where I belong
It's many hundred miles and it won't be long
What will I do if there's someone there with you
Maybe someone you've always known
How do I know I can come and give to you
Love with no warning and find you alone
It's so many miles and so long since I've met you
Don't even know what I'll find when I get to you
But suddenly now, I know where I belong
It's many hundred miles and it won't be long
It won't be long
It won't be long
It won't be long

I know I'm five years too late, but I'm guessing you heard the original, by Vashti Bunyan, in a Samsung TV ad, which came out in 2011. That version was also in season 2 of True Detective and over the opening credits on Patriot, but those came later, and I'm guessing you didn't have a time machine in 2012.
(For those of you who don't remember, time machines weren't invented until 2023.)
((I found this out on the song comments under the original on YouTube, so thanks to medoras for the singer's name.))
Where have I heard this before? Anyone know what soundtrack this was on. I hope it wasn't a commercial.

Yes, I'm old enough, but, no, I don't remember the original by Vashti Bunyan. Because of your comment I had to Wiki Vashti Bunyan and Train Song. Apparently it had very little radio play, but I've got to tell you I'm impressed with your acute memory and your insightful study of music even back in the 60's.
Is anyone old enough to remember the original version of this practically-forgotten song released by Vashti Bunyan in 1966?

came up on my first 'play something else' try...nice
Wow, pretty good, I'd say! Recognizable voices singing for a good cause, to boot!

Great song! Great pairing of Feist and Gibbard.
