At the starting of the week
At summit talks you'll hear them speak
It's only Monday
Negotiations breaking down
See those leaders start to frown
It's sword and gun day

Tomorrow never comes until it's too late

You could be sitting taking lunch
The news will hit you like a punch
It's only Tuesday
You never thought we'd go to war
After all the things we saw
It's April Fools' day

Tomorrow never comes until it's too late
Tomorrow never comes until it's too late

You hear a whistling overhead
Are you alive or are you dead?
It's only Thursday
You feel a shaking on the ground
A billion candles burn around
Is it your birthday?

Tomorrow never comes until it's too late
Tomorrow never comes until it's too late
Make tomorrow come, I think it's too late

Weird mash-up, I dig it a little,  52 Girls is my favorite B-52s song

I knew a farmer who had a dog named "Two Times" because if you call him Once, he wouldn't come, but if you call him Two Times, he'll come. Cats won't come if you call them Once either, but if you call them Two Times, the dog comes,  so the cat was named "Three Times"
The problem with this mash-up is that the only thing faintly interesting to it is the B-52s component. So dispense with the doggerel and get on with playing the music by the actual musicians — the B52s.

Odd but it's why I tune to RP!

And the sampling is from the song '52 Girls' by the B-52s, not 'Rock Lobster', Baby M.

Also bass line from The Cure  (Close to me)

Thank you again RP for broadening the auditory horizons and supplying hot air to the blow-horns abound. I equate the judgements to every time the Olympics come around and suddenly everyone is an expert, would love to hear the haters attempts to do something similar.

This works! I'm not generally sold on mashups but this takes the old B-52s tune in a completely new direction.
How can this be 20 years old? B52s ref? Fair point. It’s a sample version of DJ Shadow’s original, I think. Assume he is being playful.
Turn it up
Always REALLY makes me want to hear 52 Girls - not this. More classic B-52s would be most welcome here on RP.

Don't hate on Shadow for this song.  BTW - It's called a "sample"...not a rip-off.  Thousands and thousands of musicians over the centuries have built entire careers around samples.

I sooo don't hate RP for playing shit my ass has never heard before. What the hell is WRONG with some of you?

None of your rationalizations will make this sound good.
I always have to shut off RP when this song comes on... the random alarm/ringing sounds are really distracting.
I would really prefer to hear the actual B-52's track.
Huge fan of DJ Shadow (finally got to see him performing in Rotterdam a short while ago), but I much prefer the "original" version of this track (as compiled by DJ Shadow :P)
I like it... yes - yes I do
This got my attention.  Rock on RP
OK, time to turn off RP and put on real B-52's.
Started out sounding like "Walking on sunshine" to me
Slava Ukraini
Reading the lyrics and hoping he's wrong !

I really hate rip offs and this one is quite obvious....doesn't anybody give a shite anymore??  if so, stop with the short cuts and be original....
Tomorrow arrived for me this day and I revised my rating appropriately to a 1 from 2.

Really tired of hearing this song - please stop, you're turning into a radio station where you play the same songs again and again. There are so many good songs out there why do you have to keep repeating this annoying one?

Not the Original, then...

I don't normally comment on plays but the level of dislike that this B52 mashup induced me to pitch in. The track is new to me but as a fan of the Bs since the 70s I thought it interesting enough for a good listen; not bad, even pretty good. Thanks RP for the seemingly endless stream of new stuff.
There’s just no need for this rubbish

This song will never end ... this song will never end ...
Not Shadow's best work, I'll give you that. But I'm still surprised by the level of hate and ignorance ("such a B52's rip-off blah blah blah") of what mash-ups and sampling are about.
Open your ears, open your souls!
I have come to despise the subhuman that is the Celebrity DJ
it feels like hopping beween couple of trains in midst of a thunderstorm
Worst mashup ever.
Complete rip-off of a truly great band.

And yet they apparently are.  Which is how you know you're incorrect.
BORING...................
Worst mash-up I have ever heard. The parts are such s poor mismatch that the producer must have been intoxicated when he yakked this up. 😒

Perhaps -but definitely on the Main Mix

I don't ordinarily like to say this, but I really despise this thing. I like remixes and mashups, but this particular concoction absolutely irritates me to the nth degree as soon as it comes on. This is an instantaneous skip for me.
What is this? Less DJ more B52s please!
Things I never thought to hear on RP but I'm glad to be mistaken about #386: this.

Love the lower, menacing "original",  but this a groovy alternative.
Given coronavirus shape of things nowadays, this is an appropriate song

I stand corrected, Scott. Thanks for the additional info. It's funny, but when this song just came on I went to my computer to look it up. I told myself that I wanted to figure out who was doing this mash up because I liked it. Little did I know that 14 years ago I commented on it. It's tough getting old and forgetful. But then again, everything is new again when you don't remember it from before, right? :)

WHAT, Sonny?

Frickin’ abomination. Mash-up = white boy stab at hip-hop = Frankenstein music
Dance This Mess Around.... play that instead Bill
How many other people kept turning it down to see if the telephone was ringing...?
Don't listen to this song while driving
All this does for me is make me want to hear the unadulterated originals that were sampled.

Good comment.  This piece gets a solid 2 from me.
Made my cat run for cover and I did the same, in my opinion, awful.

Also, it sounds completely unlike the original mix by DJ Shadow. The Soulwax version is completely transformative, in  my opinion.

Here's a list of some of the samples used in the original track.

I just love the Ouroboros that is a sample-based song getting such a transformative remix!

The beat that has you tapping was completely the sample from the B-52s "52 Girls". I think what the critics are saying is that when you hear the original 52 Girls, and then listen to this song, you don't get much more than the original. That is why they are upset. I am not sure i agree. This mix adds a little something to it, like a Beatles sounding lyric ("Tomorrow never comes").

Most Excellent - Got me grrovin like an old 80s tune

Yes I think it is which I am guessing why it has a really bad rating. I don't like someone canning up a song and calling it their own.

The original version is much better. This remix makes the track too "happy". Really poor selection of DJ Shadow tracks in the RP library.

Spinning into space over that song....
Yeah, but at the beginning, I can sort of hear Pat Benatar. We are young, heartache to heartache we stand, no promises, no demands Love is a battlefield We are strong, no one can tell us we're wrong Searchin' our hearts for so long Damn. I love that song. This one, not so much. (But I lurve Rock Lobster!)

Walk like an Egyptian? I'm hearing that, too.
Thanks for trimming the squeal off the end of that, Bill. Now can you just trim back another 4 minutes or so?
Is this song meant to be funny? It's buggin'.....
The ending never comes, The ending never comes, The ending never comes...
Annoying to say the least.

Augh! Horrible ending. And sampling always seems indicates a lack of actual talent.
Obviously "Rock Lobster" was sampled for this. Nice but just makes me want to hear the B-52s. Sampling is okay for dancing but just listening? Nah. ANNOYING ENDING. A. Noy. Ying.
