Honey found time costs
You never learnt to economise
You look around and before you know
It's gone, turned to dust

There she goes
Plays the part of sorrow
In the garden running free
Steady nerves, taking all the hard knocks
You've only got yourself
Falling out of love
Making other plans

Lady knows how to go
Making eyes in a photograph
But we all know you're a lonely girl
All sad and lost

There she goes
Walking out the front door
You've only got yourself in deep
Daily life driven to a cold heart
The only god you know is greed

People in my head it goes
Break up the band
Man overboard
See Hollywood
Run out of cash
Get out of bed
Call off the dogs
Take out the trash
Stare at the sun
Man on the tracks
Cat out the bag
Sit on the fence
You got blood on your hands
Run out of luck
Lay down your arms
Curled on your bed
And then do it all again

Are times so lost
You wear the look of a modern girl
You wander round like a loaded gun
Armed for the cause

There she goes
Walking out the front door
You've only got yourself in deep
Lord knows I closed your eyes for so long
You're in the garden running free

Greetings from the Walrus. Great Song.
As I first heard this song on RP I thought that it sounds a bit like…. Supergrass. And maybe they’re influenced by the Beatles or Tears for Fears or whoever. But they have (or better: they had) definitely their unique style. The album “Road to Rouen” is a masterpiece.
This is a sad song. And I’m not talking about the subject. One of my least favorites on RP. Play something else by Supergrass please.
I first thought Brendan Benson / the Ranconteurs

Well maybe "Sowing the Seeds of Love" was veeeeeeeeery inspired by the Beatles...
Hmm ... I'm always extra happy when this band plays on RP ... I must like them a lot ... they must be a great band (light bulb finally comes on over my head).

Indicating sarcasm in writing has been an issue for hundreds of years, and solutions have been proposed since at least the 1500s.  I did some research on this issue when I took Linguistics at the Univ. of Wash in the late 90s; of course at that time I wasn't able to just "Google" it and get an answer.  And I think the problem of unmarked, and therefore unnoticed, irony/sarcasm has gotten worse with electronic writing having replaced handwriting as much as it has, and it also seems like people are more prone to sarcastic remarks in the 21st century than before (...and that is based completely on my own decision to say it...) and there really should be an acceptable standard to denoting sarcasm in writing.

Check out this fascinating article (https://the-toast.net/2015/06/22/a-linguist-explains-how-we-write-sarcasm-on-the-internet/) -  It is much more in depth than the research I completed 20 years ago.  She talks about the earliest attempts at creating a percontation point to the latter attempts at the irony mark - and the current "smiley-type" trend of using ;S, we the people using language have come up with a lot of ways to indicate our attempts at writing or speaking disingenuously.

PS - I rated this track as a bit better than average at a 7.  LLRP!!

There are 13 suggestions on Acronymfinder.com for "LLRP" -- but "Long-Live Radio Paradise" is not one of them, so I'm going with "Low-Level Recognition Processor".

You're overestimating your own detective qualities. Anybody who has ever heard the Beatles can hear how this was inspired/stolen/... Supergrass knows that anybody will hear it. Btw so many bands did this, e.g. Tears for Fears, Oasis. Oh, and the Beatles and the Stones themselves borrowed quite heavily from others as well. So what?

Funny who it still sounds like Supergrass. Not their best song though...

Throwing some love Supergrass' way.

A stellar band with a wonderful back catalog.
I've always enjoyed how this group has such a unique and distinctive catchy groovy sound -- and a bit different on each track, to boot.  I love this whole album, but Tales of Endurance alone was worth the price of admission.  Thanks, RP for jamming all day all night forever...

This sounds like the Beatles?  Didn't know Supergrass were fakers, either.  Thanks for the very educational post.  Boy...  other than all that, what a great band and great song.
Check out Gaz Coombes' new solo 'effort' Bring on the Bombs or summat.

The Tour de France rolled into Rouen yesterday and all I could think of was "Road to Rouen" - too bad none of the other folks in the room appreciated the pun.
Sounds like Beatles, sounds like Kinks? Yeah, I hear those influences and I'm good with that.
Summers just aren't the same without some new Supergrass tunes.
This is Supergrass.. and yeah, it rocks... thanks, RP !

I love this album, but they have lots of great songs on other albums... "Caught by the Fuzz," "Alright" and "Pumping on Your Stereo" would be welcome additions to the RP playlist.

Ok, I've been at work since 5:45pm last night and my replacement is 20 minutes late.  Again.

I could so use some Supergrass myself.

In order to keep this comment at least somewhat relevant to the song, I find this band somewhat hit or miss for the most part.  I have nothing against this song at all, but it just doesn't exactly grab me.  If I wasn't sitting next to the computer and grinding my teeth in annoyance, I would forget that any music was on at all.

Speaking of other bands ... Supergrass here reminds me a lot of Grant-Lee Phillips' "Dream In Color" so much so that I thought he was in this band. I like them both.

Nice!

You guys need to stop bitching about bands mirroring other bands. If more bands could try to emulate Pink Floyd, Beatles, Radiohead, and Hendrix...I'd be thrilled. Instead, we have FM radio trying to showcase the next Nickleback; might as well go back to Whitesnake, and really just get more depressed.

P.S. HMV is like the old Sam Goody. Selling CDs way overpriced...making people find alternative methods to widen their horizons.

I agree. The Beatles borrowed too.

John said he hated "Run For Your Life" because he "nicked" Elvis.

Nothing is created in a vacuum.

I agree, I kept drifting off with good memories of Beatles remade.  Catchy tune, popish, but me likes this band.  This is what RP is all about, something new, different and not likely to hear on mainstream, generic airwaves.  The eclectic variety that keeps me coming back for more RP and for more obscure bands and albums to add to the buy list.  Keep it up Bill!.
