who could see and not believe? the heart that beats the wavelength.
and who could say but never do. things they've said to someone who
thru all that's been and all will be - so in line so thoughfully(lessly)
in tune with you. so in time for me. new thoughts arrive. so in time for me.
who can count the time i'm beatin... with my hands?
who can stop the smoke from breathin... in my head?
words will come and words will go. make believe and overthrow.
just believe and you can do.
you know my heart - it beats for you.
it beats4u - so in time we beat. your thoughts align - so in time with me.

Not understanding lyrics? Maybe pictures are better for you? 😀

I couldn't understand the lyrics, so I read them. I still can't understand them. Possibly too much MMJ was smoked before writing this one?
I have this whole theory that the right amount of weed needs to be smoked for good music. Too little, and it's boring. Too much, and you get, well, this. Or most Grateful Dead songs.
The good news is that the guitarist can still play even when zooted out of his mind.

Duh, glad this will be over, whiny and thin vocals. It's only good at the beginning and has a great ending with a thumping bass.

I can never play this loud enough here at work to hear the bass. But based on your comparison of the bass work to Jack Casady, I am going to raise my rating of this song a couple of points.
Lovely Jefferson Airplane-ey bass guitar. Closely followed in rotation today with Somebody To Love (Live). Nice touch.

Hey Mr Edge, listen to what a difference a bass makes to a track.
Amazing live band.

Yeah, it has an engaging sound quality. Earnest and enthusiastic, too. And because of all that effort put into the art, I expect to comprehend the words. I can't figure out if the words are indistinct as a matter of production choice, or a lazy singer.
Damn, I did type in Jim James' name after googling it, but I guess I forgot to update my earlier comment. I hate when I do that! Anyway, the original's fixed now. And today, this song following the Bodeans' "Fadeaway" has capped an excellent set begun by the Dandy Warhols' "Godless"!

A lot of people bitch about ?? voice, but there's an innocent, joy and vulnerability in his voice that I really appreciate.

Enthralling high energy music. Wish I could say that the vocalist was equally captivating. He's in the Tom Yorke category of singing flat and swallowing mumbling the lyrics.
Can't wait to see them again!
Oh my ...loving this not sure how many is in the band...but in my head this is them playing ...love it:O)X

When a song catches your ear that you go to the extent of pulling it up on RP that has to say something, right? Just sayin'

Not knocking this jam, but sad we don't here anything off of their earlier records - Tennessee Fire, At Dawn, or It Still Moves.

Saw interesting MMJ performance and interview on Boing Boing TV, which only made me like the band more.

yeah - i like the way the drum goes bada bada bump
Nice groove, good motion.
Title should be: It Beeps 4 U.
Saw them in Paradiso, Amsterdam. Music was so loud I still hear a beep in my ears. Since November 2011.

I think I figured something out. Too many listeners are being too analytical. "It doesn't sound like the Beatles", or "it doesn't sound like Metallica". Hey, not everything Bill plays is "great". As much as I love Neil Young, there are several of his songs that don't move me. But I don't over-analyze it. Just listen, or not. That's radio. Sometimes I think some of you don't drink enough. Too many inhibitions or encumbrances. Toss a few back. Enjoy.

still amazing.
runs back to their old song "the bear" which is a classic if you are a long time MMJ fan.

Fleet Foxes! Got it. That's where I've heard this voice before. That info was stored in a deep, dark, corner and took some time to dig out.
My 8 and 10 year old love it when I crank this song up in the car. They sing along with the most serious look on their faces, it's precious! And yes i really like MMJ.
My favorite "new" band! Love them. Thanks RP!
I like to point out positive things, I like most music that is played on RP. But this Morning Jacket stuff is pretty lame. It is basic rhythm patterns with some guy who is not that good of a singer, singing through some echo chamber effects box.
The drummer on this track is good.

The baseline is taken directly from a Buzzcocks song, the name of which eludes me.

Apparently you've never heard of or seen The Sadies. Always high on the MJ and will blow your mind live. Incredible players, sadly, Dallas passed on this year. They are worth checking out and RP should give them a listen as well.
