Oh, my heart,
I think of you night and day,
Loyal companion.

I will love you all my life,
Companion for life,
My baby, my beloved.
Oh! My heart
I think of you night and day
Loyal companion
I will want to love you all my life
Companion for life

You can't please everyone. You can't please everyone.
Where are you my beloved?
Come here so that we can see you
You shouldn't be ashamed of being lovely
Come here so that we can see you
You shouldn't love from far away
Come here so that we can see you
I know now that you don't please everyone
Come here so that we can see you
I know now that you don't dislike everyone
Come here so that we can see you

My love, my baby,
Oh, baby.
My baby, my beloved,

I think of you night and day,
Loyal companion.

I will love you all my life,
Companion for life,
I know now that you can't please everyone
Come here so that we can see you
I know now that you don't dislike everyone
Come here so that we can see you
Where are you my love?
Where are you my soul?
You are not the same as your brothers
You are not the same as your sisters
It's God who made you so pleasing to me

LOVE Amadou and Mariam - thanks RP for introducing me to them!

Jumping to a lot of conclusions there mate.  Good grief.
I really like RP, however, the Main mix contains too many worldly songs. They have a Global mix for these songs.
ooooh

hot guitar

hot keyboards

dig that call...response jammimg
If you have never seen them live do yourself a favour and find a way.

Life changing

Insightful comment.

I think this is more Stevie Wonder than actual World Music. This is essentially "Higher Ground".

One of the earliest songs I remember hearing on RP, around 2010.

What's with the 6.1 rating?  I seem to remember we had a different crowd of RP listeners 10 years ago who would have rated this more highly.

Sounds like a good show. Seen these two on Jools Holland, some time back, and they did a good show in that setting.

I put this in my personal playlist and it's one of my favorites. I try to sing along even if I have no idea  what they are saying. I dig the call and response of the singers. The horns and keyboards are the bomb!!! It's just a great song IMO.
Love the horns in this one!

This is most definitely an 8.

And in other news, milk doesn't come from cows, but from the supermarket.

Actually, archaeologists and historians (you know, those whack jobs who actually research stuff for a living), discovered flavored ice was produced in the Sahara dessert in ancient Egypt during the first dynasty in 2890 B.C., by placing thin clay trays with water on straw beds, which would freeze over night by evaporation and low night temperatures. True, the Persians later around 400 B.C improved the recipe by adding dairy products.

Last time I checked facebook. someone claimed  (that was sarcasm) that both the Sahara and Egypt are to be found on the African continent. And, if you truly want to split hairs,  those 3 guys descended from Africa along with you, me and everyone else. -Unless of course you're a hardcore creationist, then of course none of this will make sense to you.

Quid quo pro, uncle.
Thats it...I am taking French lessons!!!

this is quite nice, but talking about Mali you have to look out for "Tamikrest". i was in the first gig of their european tour 14 days ago and i tell you these (touareg) guys (and girls^^) rock like hell  - or... like DESERT!!
A great track off a really enjoyable album. Malitastic!

Really enjoyed that!!
I really dig their sound. {#Sunny}
They rock this one!
Dont have a clue what they're singing about but its a lovely mix of brass and beat.
I'm surprised this isn't rated higher.  I, for one, really appreciate the airplay A&M gets here on RP!  Thanks! {#Sunny}

It's even arguable that pretty much all modern pop and rock music can trace its roots to Malian (well, most West African, really) griot tradition.

Heard it a lot on RP to date, and still like it!  I like how it blends the classic Mali sound with a fuller arrangement and a rocking beat.
Argh j'accroche pas, j'accroche pas, j'accroche pas... Peut-etre que c'est parce que les paroles me paraissent vraiment pauvres. Joli et tout mais non. Voila. Dommage.
5 points for the Hammond,,+ 1 for the rest = 6.{#Bananapiano}
overplayed / boring
More! More! More! I luvs me some Amadou et Mariam!!{#Dancingbanana}
A&M pack some great riffs into this tune.  Love it.

Others may disagree but this does nothing for me. Not lacking in talent, just... that it sounds like its been done so many times before.
