I wanna pull back the veils and find out what it is I've done wrong
I wanna tear these curtains down
I want you to meet me somewhere tonight
In this old tourist town
And we'll go
Low rising
Cause we've gotta come up, we've gotta come up
Low rising
Cause there's no further for us to fall
Low rising
Cause I fear we've had enough, and we're
Low rising
All for the love of you
I wanna take you to the rock
I wanna jump right in and see what that big ocean's got
I wanna turn this thing around
I wanna drink with you all night until we both fall down
'Till we go
Low rising
Cause we've gotta come up, we've gotta come up
Low rising
Cause there's no further for us to fall
Low rising
'Till I feel we've had enough, and we're
Low rising
All for the love of you
(Low rising)
Low rising
Cause we've gotta come up, we've gotta come up
Low rising
'Till I feel we've had enough
Low rising
Cause there's no further for us to fall
Low rising
Oh
All for the love of you
(For the love of you
We're low rising, low rising
I wanna sit you down and talk
I wanna sit you down and talk about it all)
Sadly...they 'were' exceptional - or at least their recordings ARE still exceptional :-)
LLRP
They're touring right now!
Perfect. Has a kind of Ray LaMontagne vibe.
Glen and Markéta are exceptional.

Too good. Thank's RP to make me discover this band.
Loves me some Glen Hansard! If you haven't seen it yet, catch the move "Once", in which he stars with Marketa Irglova, featuring the 2008 Academy Award winning song "Falling Softly".
One of my favorite movies which i have not seen in a long time
Glen Hansard really honours Van Morrison here.
Wikipedia:
"Hansard has remarked about his musical influences: "In my house, when I was a kid, there was the holy trinity, which was Leonard Cohen, Van Morrison, and Bob Dylan with Bob sitting centre."[
"Once" is the reason I gave the song 7.
Remember the slogan for the movie:
"How often do you find a right person? - Once."
Ooo, good. Cambodian rock.
Try watching the "Tokay" video.
Almost tricked me to think this is from the 70's
Do you mean it's like a defibrillator?
OMG Proc, that is HI-larious!! As one who used to work for an AED manufacturer (my now-wife, irish_ei, too) I actually laughed out loud (i.e. LOL vs lol)
new thought on this song, which is to say that there's a lot of these "relationship" songs that I hear now and think "wow, that would have applied perfectly back when irish_ei and I were in the early years...esp. the "let's drink till we fall down" line.....to me, this one is a 9 defined.
I just bumped my 7→8→9; there's something so honest with Glen's delivery, a sorta "we got this, let's not fuck it up, babe"
too bad they didn't last as a couple....Long Live RP at least!!
In fact, any track that has a shaky egg automatically has an extra point.
Why? Sorry, I can't work it out either.
I searched this page for "Leon" before responding—looks like an army of people think so too. This isn't bad, but I don't know if I could listen to album of this guy or the one from KoL.

Holy crap, I hadn't heard about that episode. Awful.

hehe sweet - but you DO realise that Once was a work of fiction don't you :-) Who knows what kind of couple they made in real life. It's great that they still make music together and are friends though. They both seem like utterly lovely people!
well, do YOU realise that they actually never were a couple in the movie?!
Dude - you've got to be kidding. I think Bono is a big fan of Glen's. I know Eddie Vedder is.
It is a good song - yes it is!
But I do not like it anyway!
A band by the name "The Swell Season" is unlikable to me,
as you will most likely agree with!
That's just stunning to me. This song is brilliant.
Thought it was the cover art for a moment.
And I'd be just as wrong to suggest that there should be a law to keep you from commenting on songs.

This is a beautiful love song.
one more adjective: sexy
This is a beautiful love song.
Nope. this is too polished and smooth. Actually has a bit of van morrison to it.
This was at my favorite local venue. I actually considered going to that show but I was out of town. Awfully glad I was.
I think this is one of their best songs.

Nope :)
Yes, it does. And I thought, nice tune for the Kings.
but it's not John Popper.
Wha? :)
I try to avoid lyrics sites as most of them are loaded with malware or at least a bunch of annoying ads/pop-ups. I can't believe they're asking for cell phone numbers now.... Anyway, I found these at lyrics.com which apparently doesn't let you select any text to copy/paste. I don't know how common that is, but you can just copy them out of the page source (Ctrl-U in Firefox). Not sure how correct these are but here you go!

My heart goes out to Glen, Marketa, other band members and audience at this gig.
Exactly, it does the same with me....

You think there is any Van Morrison influence here? Very nice.
Let's be intellectual!
Low rising - aha!!
Thanks Bill, have a great day!
Dinna know they were ever a couple. They do make beautiful music.
Very nice music! Would like to meet him on the street and listen just to his guitar and voice!
The Swell Season 010. by =GermanCityGirl
Irish musician Glen Hansard and Czech singer and pianist Markéta Irglová of The Swell Season.
Photographed at The Paramount in Seattle, Washington.
Just what I thought, it's a good tune and a he's good singer but too much of a Van ripoff.

'Once' couple Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova split
See link...
Literally the same thing happened just now... Rated and ran to purchase.
Yes, yes, and yes. Love it!
I hear it now.
Absolutely!!!
Love the Frames album and this is a nice complement to that album. Nice that Bill can link these bands and their progressions together for us.
It's why I pay him and what he does regardless of my (or your) input.
The people playing the music are not the only artists here, the guy stringing all this together is an equal to all this.
RP rules. Thank you Mr. Goldsmith! (and Ms. Goldsmith too!).
Good observation ya'll! The melody is a lot like "Into the Mystic." AND Glen Hansard loves Van Morrison (almost as much as I do)!
He does lots of covers, check it out:

If you ever get a chance to see The Swell Season or Glen's band, The Frames, live...you have to go! Best show ever!
well there's that. yeah. pretty obvious isnt'. the vocal makes it not quite so obvious on my first listen. Distinctive enough voice to get away with it..................... until the la lal ala l ala lal alla all al la la la
oh well. at least it's not Queen

You called it, for sure.
Los Lobos
Tom Waits
Rolling Stones
Swell Season
now
Beatles Day in a Life...
This is why RP wins time on my Headphones/Stereo
Does anyone hear the lead singer's voice in KOL in this or am I plugged up and need an
ear, nose & throat specialist?
I hear more Cat Stevens.. also similar in style to the guy from Simply Red (doesn't sound like a compliment but it is one and this is a great tune).

Went to see Glen Hansard at Montreux Jazz festival, good performance but he was a bit up himself. He didn't like a noisy audience and told everyone to be quiet andl listen. Red rag to a bull.....
I've never understood why people go to a concert to use as background music for their conversation. Buy the album, put it on and talk yourself blue.
