Waking up is harder
Than it seems
Wandering through these empty rooms of
Dusty books and quiet dreams
Pictures on a mantel
Speak your name
Softly like forgotten tunes just
Outside the sound of pain

Weren't we like a pair of thieves
With tumbled locks and broken codes
You cannot take that from me
My small reprieves your heart of gold
Weren't we like a battlefield
Locked inside a holy war
Your love and my due diligence
The only thing worth fighting for

Change will come to those who
Have no fear
But I'm not her, you never were
The kind who kept a rule book near
What I said was never
What I meant
And now you've seen my world in flames my
Shadow songs my deep regrets

Weren't we like a pair of thieves
With tumbled locks and broken codes
You cannot take that from me
My small reprieves your heart of gold
Weren't we like a battlefield
Locked inside a holy war
Your love and my due diligence
The only thing worth fighting for

I hadn't heard it - but will never be able to unhear it now.. Always preferred Horlicks

The drum track is a reason why I rated this song higher than I would, actually.
I remember her great aunt, Vera.

Another listener reports it was cowritten by Roseanne Cash and T-Bone Burnett. So props to you for hearing that.

Fabulous. Firm 9 from the Bristol office.

I often think I should listen to another radio station, just to get some variety, you know? Or perhaps Spotify for a bit.

Then you blow me flat again with this superb material and I think "Nah, you're alright mate. Stay where you are".

Thanks from the bottom of my heart Mr & Mrs G.

Why not rank songs and then download the csv file - that is what I do - one of the excellent perks of having an account.  Plus I get to give some $ back to this wonderful station that has been my daily soundtrack for over 20 years
This verison is a 10. No doubt in my mind.

After listening to both I much prefer the 'hauntingly spare' original. Her voice and instrumentals win out over the reptition and the over-long rhythm intro of this one. Those of you who haven't heard the original:it's worth finding.
Another talented artist that i heard on RP going to increase this to 9

I was hearing Sofi Tukker at first.
good song. reminds me of True Detective TV show.
Tasty. Love this one.
Any wagers on whether that's a drum machine?  It sounds really plain, almost the very same beat as "That Don't Impress Me Much", but I do like that it doesn't take away from the guitar layers.
I love the way the guitar growls...
I love. Love. Love this version of this son that I can never find online.
Love the simple lush guitar… that keeps changing through various textures… fresh and juicy.
 Ogilvie...?

Holy Cow, Batman...

Live...
Free Again - Lera Lynn

This song appears in the trailer for the upcoming game Endless Dungeon - haunting, beautiful.
I could listen to this on a daily basis!! Just love the groove...

Yup, yup, been doing that since 2010.  I probably have a list 200 songs long.  It's great for when you have a riff or a fragment going around in your head.  Usually the list is enough to look up which song it is.

Bill ought to add a little button on the website to copy song/artist info to the clipboard, lol.
Katie Tunsall's song.  Love it.
Judy Collins anyone?
sounds a little like roseanne  cash

There's a youtube vid of her performing with Joshua Grange in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 2016 at a club.  The two of them are so killer diller together.  Lera Lynn is amazing. She should be much better known.

I do the same thing. Hope Bill adds a bookmark feature into RP. I've discovered so many great new artists here!

Nice vocals.  Girl can sing.
This song is just listening to loops and tracks not impressed
I wish Spotify had this version… Good thing there’s RP!!

Tikeram's voice - amazing. Great album as well.
I love the way the guitar just so gently growls...
Today I am hearing shades of Joni Mitchell in her voice. And that's a Good Thing. Either she is petite or she likes jumbo body guitars. Or both.

agree! RP is quite singular in that they are as hard left as any could be politically, and their listening audience is clearly same-minded. but they play this and so very many opposite minded bands. good music is good, though, so cheers to that. glad they don't censor what's good cuz an artist is pro gun, pro anything the DJ is anti.

How's that pro disease, pro gun thing working out there in Covidland?

Who is Lera Lynn? Well, I'd never know if not for this station. Thank you!

No, I like this remix better than the 'pure' version. It has a constant beat whereas the original stutters, varies the timing and puts pauses where they're not needed. Not as good, IMO.
same song you just played

The original is haunting and just lovely.  This version is like someone performed sloppy surgery and forgot to close the patient =/   I love Lera Lynn, but this version gets a regretful 2 from me.
solid 3.
weak, shallow,  and oh so ho -hum.
Her name reminds me of an old Brit joke:

Two Inuit discussing the evening's food. One asks " What's for dinner tonight?" and gets the reply "The usual -Vera Lynn special". "Ah," says the first, "whale meat again".

I'll get me sealskin...
Damn.  She was just in town and I missed seeing her perform live.

Reminds me of Tanita Tikaram.......twist in my sobriety....
I gave it a 2 because I think this remix guts the original.... which I love.
Here's  Lera Lynn performing 'Lose Myself' with John Paul White. A song they co-wrote.

That man is consistently surrounded by beautiful women, that sing fantastic.

This is why I keep coming back here!
One of my very rare 9s!

This remix is no where NEAR as good as other versions -- in my humble opinion.
I agree with other posts here -- that the drums /guitar just don't fit. Lera Lynn is a superb singer -- I discovered her on YouTube just about 5 years ago-- that version is just Lera -- on a stage with her guitar.  Simplicity is superior some times-- and this is one of those times.
I must confess -- I was attracted to the video because she is a gorgeous woman ( so call me shallow )--  and then I heard her sing.
So I went and hunted for more of her material... and I  still wonder why she is not  a superstar.
( Oh YEAH-- the  so-called 'mainstream' music scene -- doesn't like people who can actually SING without auto-tune)

If you want to hear the version of this song I am referring to-- go here :

Thanks for sharing that link,  I now prefer that rawer version, but this "remix" is still good, just different. I concur that she is a beautiful woman, with a beautiful voice.

I'm right there with you!  Or I was, somewhere along the line I upped my 7 to an 8.  I'm finding I like her effortless sounding singing style, which floats on top of the notes like an extra layer of aural pleasure.  Still, this is still an 8 to me...Long Live RP!!

Now why did yo have to go and say that!?! Now I can't hear the proper lyrics, when I listen all I can hear is Lera singing about Ovaltine.
I prefer the original Lera version, the one played in the TV show.
Anyway, not bad.
Love the series and this tune's sound is perfect

What a beautiful natural voice without affectation and in perfect pitch.

I could listen to her singing all day long {#Heartkiss}

I much prefer the version without the drum machine.
Starts out sounding like “JahLove”
Only 10 rated song after 3 years listening to RP. I don't get tired of hearing it.

I LIKE IT! She has a lovely voice; shades of Jesse Sykes' huskiness in some spots...but the guitar-work and delay is definitely unique.
