Shine on, prodigal son.
Gotta have your morning glory
Keep on having your fun
It'll be the same old story soon.
Soon it will be afternoon
Sun getting hot as a fine
Never mind.
Keep on watching the sky
Keep on waiting to die
Keep on wondering why
Afternoon
Afternoon
Burn on, celestial star
Burn away the times that find you
Move on wherever you are
xxx do the thing that one will find you here
You won't have nothing to fear
but time slipping away
day by day
Keep on watching the sky
Keep on waiting to die
Keep on wondering why
Afternoon
Afternoon
Shine bright prodigal son
Rushed off to your happy ending
Good night, celestial one
No use wasting time pretending now
Now that you xxxx xxxx xxx
Hating the time and the space?
Lose that race
Keep on watching the sky
Keep on waiting to die
Keep on wondering why

Johnny was one of the best!
This was a great album. Loved that lineup with Johnny and Rick Derringer.
This however is not the best track on the album, that would be Ain't That a Kindness or Rock n Roll Hoochie Koo.
"Be careful with a fool"!
Caught him in D.C. a couple of times in the mid '80s.
Great shows.
R.I.P.

Heard the news on public radio here in Germany on the way home from work. They played an awesome rendition of him doing Johnny B Goode.
Cool legacy. Thanks!!

Most definitely. A really impressive show. Saw him years ago. I remember where but not when. Was definetely back in the 80's here in Cleveland at The Empire. The building is long gone. A casualty of the area redeveloped when the new Indians stadium was built.
The Empire was one of the best places to see a show in Cleveland. It's missed to this day!

He'll be on the Oct Blues Cruise as a special guest.
He is a bad ass guitar player but I hate his voice.

The original "And" line-up, the album doesn't do justice to their live show. If you had a chance to see them before the unfortunate death of Randy Jo Hobbs, you got to see RAWK at its most intense.

Finally achieved a lifelong anbition to watch this genius perform live back in 2010 and even though he could hardly walk his fingers were as electric as ever. Amazing band with him too.
Anyone who finds Johnny Winter boring needs to listen to 'Return of Johnny Guitar - Best of 1984 -86' - unbelievably brilliant!

Is it possible that this song is 42 years old? Yikes.

Never got much into Johnny Winter back then, but I'm really appreciating the music now!
New to my ears. . .but bearing in mind its from 1970 - this ROCKS!
I know Johnny's considered a blues icon, but I never cared for his tone, and his song writing isnt that impressive.
