And I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel all right
You know I work all day
To get you money to buy you things
And it's worth it just to hear you say
You're gonna give me everything
So why on earth should I moan?
'Cause when I get you alone
You know I'll feel okay
When I'm home
Everything seems to be right
When I'm home
Feeling you holding me tight
Tight, yeah
It's been a hard day's night
And I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel all right
Ow!
So why on earth should I moan?
'Cause when I get you alone
You know I feel okay
When I'm home
Everything seems to be right
When I'm home
Feeling you holding me tight
Tight, yeah
Ooh, it's been a hard day's night
And I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel all right

Sir George Martin on cowbell, ladies and gentlemen.
Can never have enough cowbell!
The opening chord ALWAYS stops me in my tracks and I immediately smile.
And I turn up the music!
Kingmaker...
The Beatles Bible: The ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ opening chord
Awesome. Thank you. : )
That seems totally incorrect.
Of course this is a 10 - Maybe not much else is but this one is!
Because nothing is

I'm sure they'd love to join their heroes "The Fab 4" with some enshrinement!
More cowbell !
...and if a log sleeps in the forest, does it dream?
WTF?
I know, what is not to like?
WTF?
Sorry, but I'm tired of the songs by the early Beatles. I loved and bought them when they first came out, but they've been played to death over the decades.
I'm sorry for you really, but for me it's like saying Mozart and Beethoven, i used to love them but they were overplayed so i don't like them anymore !Yup!
I think that the arrival of another band with Beatles level talent would be the swift kick in the butt of the music world that is so desperately needed in this age of auto-tuned crap, American Idol-The Voice shows, and charts dominated by hip-hop, rap, Katy Perrys, Biebers and Timberlakes.
sorry for the long sentence. In a nutshell, it's the only way rock makes itself relevant in the current culture. That's no slight on the many great bands out there currently. Just my wish for another massive talent like the Beatles to come along and change the landscape like they did.
Don't forget: They broke "Three Minute Rule."
They wrote their own music-as bizarre as that sounds now.
They played their own instruments
They were in on the creation of the record package
They owned their own record company
So unheard of then
Well, they really weren't the first to break the "three-minute rule", and not the only ones who did most of the other stuff either, but still...

You're no fun!!

Watch Let It Be
watching let it be was like watching a really bad, bad marriage disintegrating right before your eyes. it was too painful, the arguing and bickering, the fact you could see none of them wanted to be there anymore....
it's like watching those old grainy videos of jfk leaving love field - you want to scream through the tv "DONT GO!!!! STOP!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE DONT GO!!!!!!"
but even through all of the nastiness they still managed to give us some great music from those sessions and then put aside their shit to give us the greatest album of all time - "Abbey Road"
Everybody in my multitude of churches loves this classic song... the same year this album came out, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law in the USA the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964... the following year the Voting Rights Act was signed into law...

Truthout
They might as well have burned a cross on Dr. King's grave. The Jim Crow majority on the Supreme Court just took away the vote of millions of Hispanic and African-American voters by wiping away Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965...
what do you think the NAZI'S have been doing given our government brought 20,000 of the top boys here? then we have the home grown aholes like the Bush Klan , from Prescott on. good Nazis all.
marvelous song from a marvelous album...

Peace doesn't mean lack of enmity, just that you don't hit each other, and AFAIK the moptops never had fistfights.
This has to be a classic 'beat the intro' number - one chord and you know what the song is. Shame it's been played gadzillions of times on radio over the last 4 decades.
Yeah, well, they also preached love, for a while at least. But eventually all hypocrisy will be brought to light.
I have heard that several times before and what great fun to hear Randy Bachman break it down into it's multiple parts. It is further proof that the Beatles were brilliant.
Well put!
Love McCartney's bridge. It's hard to believe he was ever capable of such succinct rock brevity. Particularly when one considers the mess he made of his input to "Free As A Bird".
This is just about the coolest thing I've heard in years! I didn't know about Vinyl Tap before, but I suspect that if there's a way to upload the podcasts, I'll be loading a truckload of them onto my MP3 player. I love how Randy Bachman embraces the music - not just the tune or lyrics, but the whole technical and historical aspect. So much fun... Him describing his first guitar (particle-board and lipstick-tube pickups!) and then playing it - that ol' guitar sounds pretty darned good, even after so many years.
Thanks for sharing this, PJB - I owe you.
As keller1 said... we miss you so much Cynaera...
That was great! Thanks.
Need more Beatles on RP
Why does everyone blame Yoko and Linda gets off scot free?

True. Feels like I lost a family member. It's not the same around here no more. The comment board will never be the same.

Peace and Forgiveness can be very different things.
I just saw the movie "Hard Day's Night", for which the Beatles wrote the song for. I recommend it.
I also saw the first part of their "Beatles Anthology" DVD, which I also recommend. In it, George Harrison admits, "We were very tight". It is also clear from from the film, that they have put all the ill feelings behind them and forgiven each other (before Harrison and Lennon passed away).
As for peace:
1) Violence discredits (the other)
2) Violence begets more violence
3) Loop back to 1
The only way to break out of the cycle of hatred and violence is by not being hateful or violent yourself in step two, in other words, forgiving others. I think the Beatles have demonstrated to us how to practice what they have preached.
it was that bitch yoko

LMAO Nice one Bill/Rebecca (the follow on from Mary Mcaslin 'Things We Said Today')
OMG - I'm old!!! But still rockin'!!
Did Romeotuma's gang get into trouble...?

Wow! It was two guitars and one note on the bass. No wonder I—nor anyone I knew—couldn't figure it out. Thanks for this.

I think they were getting into creativity power battles. E.g., George went off and did a 3 record LP. Still a real shame, and I think they did "come together" in later years.

Wow - very cool. And great rendition of the tune following the story and the deconstruction of the chord. Thanks for the link!

Since I haven't posted anything in awhile, I thought I would post this pencil portrait I did of John Lennon a while ago. The reference was a screen cap from A Hard Day's Night. I always loved this scene with John. Once again, my scanner read the texture of the paper more than the soft shading, so it looks a little rough. Looking at this drawing makes me sad sometimes. I'm a huge Beatles fan and I still remember the day he was killed like it was yesterday. And then the loss of George.....yeah, I'm a sentimental sap. Well I hope you like the drawing.
Yeah, that's George on the cowbell.
