Like seven inches from the midday sun
Well, I hear you whispering and the words melt everyone
But you stay so cool
My muñequita, my Spanish Harlem Mona Lisa
You're my reason for reason
The step in my groove, yeah
And if you said this life ain't good enough
I would give my world to lift you up
I could change my life to better suit your mood, yeah
'Cause you're so smooth
Well, and it's just like the ocean under the moon
Well, it's the same as the emotion that I get from you
You got the kind of lovin' that can be so smooth, yeah
Give me your heart, make it real
Or else forget about it
Well, I'll tell you one thing
If you would leave, it'd be a crying shame
In every breath and every word
I hear your name calling me out, yeah
Out from the barrio, you hear my rhythm on your radio
You feel the turning of the world so soft and slow
Turning you 'round and 'round
And if you said this life ain't good enough
I would give my world to lift you up
I could change my life to better suit your mood, yeah
'Cause you're so smooth
Well, and it's just like the ocean under the moon
Well, it's the same as the emotion that I get from you
You got the kind of lovin' that can be so smooth, yeah
Give me your heart, make it real
Or else forget about it
Yeah
Well, and it's just like the ocean under the moon
Well, it's the same as the emotion that I get from you
You got the kind of lovin' that can be so smooth, yeah
Give me your heart, make it real
Or else forget about it, yeah
Or else forget about it
Oh, or else forget about it
Oh, let's don't forget about it
Give me your heart, make it real
Oh, let's don't forget about it, yeah
Let's don't forget about it, yeah, oh no
Oh, let's don't forget about it, oh no, no
Oh, let's don't forget about it, yeah, oh no
Oh, let's don't forget about it
Yeah, yeah
This song as well, thought, "this must be Santana, although it sounds new and hip" and laughed when I saw this came out in 1999.
I agree that this rocks just as well as it must've back then. Great song. Thank you, Bill!
Mainstream bilge. All Sanata's solo's sound too much as one.
Says someone going by the name "ppopp". Bieber forever!
6.3??????? Hahaha! I'm done with RP community. From now on I'll only listen to the music and won't even bother reading this elitist crap.
Hyberbole much, bruh?
I actually like Rob Thomas on this song, my problem is with Santana. The continual background noodling sounds like he walked into the recording session without ever having heard the song before, plugged in, and started injecting his ever-so-tired bag-o-riffs into every tiny gap he could find. Pretty much characteristic of his playing the last 20 years. It's depressing to think that this is the guy who recorded some of the best hard rock material of the early '70's, who played the incredible solo on "Song of the Wind", who recorded with guitar god John McLaughlin, and who used to have artists like Flora Purim on his albums. A complete waste when you sell your soul in search of the almighty dollar.
This guy ^ nailed it...
I can't help but love this killer groove... Corazon Espinado, too... This record was s big part of my life's soundtrack during an incredibly rough time of transition for me; painful separations, confusion, global and cross-country relocations, eventual breakup, etc., so I actually couldn't bear listening to it for several years, which also hurt, because it had been so much a part of life right up to then. Now, I can rock right out to it again. The pain is still there, and will never go away, but thankfully, so is the Divine Music! All of Santana's gifts are among my most treasured pleasures.
and I had the slightly better experience with this album, as a post-breakup disk as I got over the relationship crap.
Long Live RP and all of us!!
Once my stream and the local Radio were playing the same Bowie song within a few bars of one another
fuck the "too cool for the room crowd"
overplayed = yeah,
but still a very good song
That would be a no on retirement. He is currently on an intermittent national and international tour, and has booked many shows at the House of Blues in Las Vegas well into 2020.
"Ugh, do you have some Michael Jackson? I hate thees salsa sheet!"
Man, that Moonflower live album is one of my all time favorite live LPs. Jealous. The clueless, bashing here on Santana, could never have seen him lean back and let loose on that guitar live. They are the poorer for it.
Exactly right. The haters are clueless, not very smooth, and they've missed out — they're still missing out — on one of the titans of the axe.
"same as the emotion that I get from Harrison Ford"
Yeah a lot of times the band is just a backup for Carlos riff whaling. Satriani's albums for another example. But when they play withing the context of a song it's really great. Similar feeling with Knofler playing on Dylan's Slow Train Coming album or Landreth with Hiatt.
I'm with you! Santana was my first concert way back in '77 for the "Moonflower" tour—made quite an impression on me back then that has lasted all these years. Santana's music resonates with the soul! 10+

Yes, you should definitely only hang out in communities that agree with your musical tastes.

It's the part: “Well, it's the same as the emotion that I get from you,” and I think it's pretty well-known what many people hear instead.
Give it a rest.
Enjoy what you enjoy. PSD what you don't.
Not everyone is a music historian, music critic, or wanna be... Music is for you. It affects eaxh of us differently and very different at different times.. IOW it's personal and subjective. It changes with fashions, times, moods and your history.
Enjoy the music. I do.
You're being too logical and neighborly in this post. What are you, a trouble-maker or something?

I hope you've flushed all the bile from your system with this ugly, ugly post. You could not be more off base regarding Carlos Santana.

Nah, it was pretty much spot-on.
Have you heard this song mashed up with Enya? It's surprisingly good!

A-Fucking-Men. That is all.
Actually that's not all. This pervasive attitude reminds me of Steve Martin's act when he played the cool hipster dude in the 70's who really dug Barry Manilow "before he went commercial".

average 6.
ok, 6 is just fair for this...
Being young and experiencing all the legendary pre-2000 music after the fact, listening to RP sometimes makes it feel as if I listen like it all came out yesterday.

I think it seemed like something of a 're-invention' when this came out. I think he looked to a younger generation of musicians to collaborate with, to refresh his work, and I think it worked on this album.
